I got this game as part of the Humble Bundle years ago. I recently decided to give it the attempt it deserved. There's a lot that's good about the game, and it was definitely worth playing under my situation. Here are some things I really enjoyed:
It's short, sweet, and fast paced. You won't get bored playing it because it isn't grindy.
The mechanics are fluid enough. Stringing combos for more money is super fun.
The checkpoints are forgiving. You won't have to replaymore than 5 minutes if you die, allowing you to progress steadily.
It looks nice, and the OST is serviceable.
It's cheap!
However, it has problems that tip the scales against it.
The game crashes sometimes on the deck: uncaught node.js errors.
It doesn't have any achievements, demotivating me to 100% it.
Steam cloud is disabled, so I can't play it on both my PC and Deck.
The camera is placed to make travel upward easy, but traveling down is a guessing nightmare.
Enemies with more than 2 HP must often be avoided. They slow the pace of the game and halt combos.
It's easy to destroy progress + restoration requires noting down a code.
It can be hard to tell background from foreground (for collisions).
Really, I like the main character but I didn't really get what the story was about.
