It's a nice distraction and fun to pretend to be the GM for one's favourite team.

I've been absolutely hooked on FHM11! It’s the perfect blend of hockey management and that satisfying “I’m actually behind the bench” vibe. I love that you can manage or coach in so many leagues across the globe — from an obscure European club to the NHL — it’s a hockey universe at my fingertips. The best part for me is the “On-Ice Decisions” mode. It adds an arcade-like layer to the game that makes it so much more immersive. Sure, you’re making the calls from the bench, but players don’t always follow orders, which keeps things unpredictable and exciting. You’re not directly controlling players like in NHL 25, but the tension is just as real. That being said, there’s room to evolve. I’d love to see the staff career paths expanded — it would be awesome that your scout would develop into an assistant coach, then a head coach, GM. Also me, first as a head coach, than GM, than, and even eventually buy and run my own team if they’ve earned enough money. That’d add a whole new layer of long-term engagement. And of course you can go back-and-forth within the roles, as you wish. Another wish? Let us specialize our role — focus just on being a GM or just a coach. Right now, you're wearing both hats, which is great, but I’d love the option to settle just one side of the hockey brain. Also, the player-to-staff transition needs more. Right now, when a former player becomes a staff member, they feel like a clone — same name, same birthdate, but no obvious connection to their legacy. It would be amazing to see their player history tied into their new role so you can track their journey and give them the respect they deserve. Still, those are nitpicks. FHM11 is already a top-tier hockey sim with tons of depth and a growing set of interactive tools. If you love hockey, and especially if you’ve ever dreamed of being behind the bench or building a dynasty from the front office, this game is a must-play. Strongly recommended 🏒🔥

Let me start by saying I’m a massive hockey fan a die-hard Vancouver Canucks supporter, born and raised in B.C. I’ve always been drawn to hockey management games, and after years of curiosity, I finally decided to give this one a shot. I’ll admit, I was skeptical at first, but after diving in and spending hours exploring its mechanics and features, I can honestly say it’s a great game. Now, don’t get me wrong it’s far from perfect. It has its flaws, but it also does a lot of things right. What really stands out is the depth of control it gives you. Whether you want to focus on coaching or take full command of the franchise scouting, drafting, trading, hiring staff you name it, this game puts every aspect of running a hockey team in your hands. That said, it’s not as simple as it looks. There’s a steep learning curve, and figuring out all the mechanics can be a challenge. But once you get the hang of it, it’s incredibly rewarding. I’ve already lost myself in a full season of my own fantasy hockey world, and I loved every minute of it. So, if you’re a hockey fan looking for a fun way to pass the time, I’d definitely recommend giving this game a try!
