One of those situations where I wish there was an option between just a "yes/no," recommendation.
The game's writing is pretty good, especially one specific character who is really well written and voice acted. The world building is pretty neat, and I liked solving puzzles in the world.
Unfortunately the gameplay is only mediocre at best. The game is mostly a point and click adventure game, however intractable points only show up within your flashlight beam, and sometimes just hover over random things or in mid-air ,so the entire game is spent just walking slowly and panning your gun up and down. The puzzles are pretty simple though, so the game still didn't take that long to breeze through. However, the worst part is the combat which manages to be both so basic that it's not fun, while also creating one or two really frustrating combat scenarios that made me just want to quit the game right then and there due to the lack of options and horrendously clunky/buggy shooting controls. I can guarantee that if the combat was just straight up removed and the game was re-uploaded not a single person would miss it.
If you want to take a chance, buy the game when it goes on sale for like $1, which it and its sequel frequently do. However, personally I still don't think I'm going to buy the sequel, sale or not.
