DO NOT BUY THIS GAME! It's absolute gutter-trash. It's EXTREMELY based on RNG. I purchased this back when it was still in alpha, and all the game company did before it's final release was remove all of the strategies people were using to get through it. Dodge does absolutely NOTHING to prevent higher end mobs from damaging your characters now, so even bards with 21 or higher levels in the dodge skill just get ran over.
If you try to build magic resistance on your characters; the Melee mobs run you over, and the same goes for getting high physical resistance. You just get squashed by magic. Sadly If you go either of the resistances you get killed over time because you don't do enough damage, and If you go straight damage, you'll end up missing 80% of your hits and just die from MASS damage.
Before the final release of the game, guns were the go too weapon to clear stages, but now they do nothing at late stage. If you decide to try to stack health, you can't heal your characters back up to full fast enough because they lack the special ability to heal all the way to full. But this is all irrelevant because a mob that does 15 points of damage each hit will just mow your characters over anyway.
The biggest sin in this game is that you can't reset your progress, this means that even if you uninstall and reinstall, or even delete the game from your registry it will not reset the game. If I would have know this, I would not have purchased the Vampire (an absolute POS character that once it is purchased will show up in about 1/3rd of all character select groups), this also includes some of the pet upgrades that are absolutely worthless.
The only character worth getting is the apprentice, but even getting past the stages necessary to unlock this character is so nerve racking it's not even worth the time spent to get to that point.
I loved the art style of this game. It is definitely what drew me into the game when I first saw it for purchase. The music is also very well done, and the initial game concept is good, but that's where this games better qualities end.
Just do yourself a favor. Don't buy it. this game company shouldn't be given funds for a game that clearly wasn't designed to be entertaining, and was pushed out as a finished product just to get something out for sale.
