I'll buy anything this man makes. I just wish there was more nuance for steam cars.

An Unparalleled Simulation of Industry, Ambition, and Genius GearCity is more than just a game about building cars; it's a deep and profoundly rewarding economic simulation that puts you at the helm of an automotive empire from the dawn of the 20th century. It masterfully simulates over a century of major and minor historical events, from world wars to economic depressions, and challenges you to navigate them. While cars are the main event, you aren't limited to them. The simulation is vast enough to include designing and producing engines for aircraft and ships, opening up countless strategic paths. The combinations of what you can build, and the economic environment you build it in, are nearly endless. This is not a game where you simply tinker with an engine to watch the parts move. This is a game where you feel the intense pressure of running factories, scheduling multi-year development projects, and retooling production lines, all while balancing the books in a deceptively quiet but chaotic marketplace. It’s about the triumph of seeing a meticulously planned vehicle finally hit the market and obliterate the competition. It’s about the slow-burning anxiety that follows, forcing a strategic cunning that few other games can consistently demand—pushing profit margins to their limit just to fuel the next cycle of R&D and expansion. The freedom of design is staggering. Want to build a 1hp single-cylinder horseless wagon? You can. Want to create a monstrous 85hp flat-8 engine in 1902? If you have the money and the engineering prowess, you can make it happen and watch it dominate the market. Why not a 420hp supercharged radial engine in a modern sports car chassis? Absolutely. The game's design sliders contain a wealth of real-world engineering concepts—from the ancient to the cutting-edge. What truly sets GearCity apart, however, is the developer. As someone who primarily plays indie titles, I am consistently impressed by their passion. With GearCity, I have yet to find a shortcoming. Every time a new mechanic clicks, I’m left in awe at the game’s sheer depth. This is backed by a solid workshop community with great mods. GearCity is, in my view, a masterpiece. It features the most dedicated developer on the market and is easily the deepest economic, business, and automotive tycoon simulation available. I cannot wait to see how it continues to evolve. Note: This review is based on my experience with GearCity: 2nd Gear, the upcoming DLC available via the developer's Patreon. Even in its early state, it elevates an already stellar simulation to an entirely new level of realism and depth.

It was a little tough to figure out. When I first bought it all the tutorials were not coming on line for me.

This is a really nice economic simulator that I can easily recommend, but if you are here to create fantastic looking automobiles like you were playing "Automation", you are not going to get that here, what awaits you are: -Charts -Spreadsheets -A Lot of Replayability -A Satisfying Gameplay Loop of Profit and Progress -A Vehicle Designer that is clunky, cludgy, grumpy, crappy and just underwhelming to use The graphics engine uses DX9.0 and it shows and the designer is sadly just as basic, but if you like watching virtual money pile-up and enjoy the resulting satisfaction of launching successful virtual projects, you will enjoy GearCity, just don't expect to be terribly impressed by the cars you are able to design or the ease of making parts behave.

Very excellent and in-depth game. I really recommend supporting developer through FBS fundraising since they are still updating the game and you gain access to unreleased DLC. Waiting for their future AeroMogul game :)
