I haven't played a Kingdom rush game since I was in middle school, back when Flash was still an operating service and the game was free on Armor Games. Coming back to the franchise, I was scared that all my nostalgia would betray me, and the game wouldn't be worth it. I'm very glad to say thats not the case. I've only had the game a day, but it's everything I remember and more. More than that, it's one of the most engaging tower defense games I've played: You can't just get away with going idle while your towers slaughter enemies. You need to position your heroes, decide where to deploy your abilities, and reinforce weak-points along the track. I'll probably update this review as I get further into the game, but my initial impression is incredibly positive.

Not as good as the other entries in the series. If you feel you have to play it, wait for it to go on sale.

They charge you for the entire game, and then ask for more money for dlc that's so tiny? I've loved this game series for 10+ years, sad to see you fall so low.

The game is too short and lacks innovation. There are annoying in-game purchases everywhere. Buy it only if you are a true fan of the Kingdom Rush series or during a large discount.

I don't know what all the bad reviews are talking about. In my opinion this is the third best kingdom rush game. The towers are far more balanced than in origins or vengeance. Some reviews are asking to buff the "premium" towers, please don't. I hated feeling like I was forced to choose the same 4 towers with only one tower spot left for a tactical choice for every difficult level in vengeance. The double hero mechanic is cool, despite me disliking the leveling system that's been used in the series past the first installment. Dragon heroes are also OP but that's also been the case for every game except the first. Also I beat Starving Hollow on Veteran pre-patch on my first try (with one star but seriously its difficulty is overhyped)

Okay, first, the good: 1) There are a lot of different towers and heroes to try out, and the dual hero mechanic is fun. 2) The design of the final (main) campaign enemy forces is neat. 3) It's a new Kingdom Rush game. 4) The final boss is beatable. And cool-lookin'. The less good: 1) Several of the enemies seemed like reskins of enemies from prior games. 2) A number of the maps seem like very close copies of maps in prior games. 3) The challenge just isn't there. On past Kingdom Rush games, I've had to try a number of different strategies before finding one that works (if I'm good and on my game), on normal difficulty level. On this one, getting three stars on each of the (main campaign) stages was honestly pretty easy, again on normal difficulty level. Heck, I beat the final main campaign level first try! That never happens. I know I can up the difficulty level, but this game just didn't make me think. 4) That popup where they try to sell you DLCs, every time you open the game. Wow. Not cool. 5) The story is.. okay? I don't play these games for the story, so that's fine. I felt like this game was light on new content and that it wasn't as engaging as the others. Combine that with repeatedly trying to sell me a DLC while I'm playing a game I've purchased (being a pop-up makes it worse), and it's a thumbs-down from me. If you really need a new tower defense game, or heck, if you haven't played any of the others, this might be fine for you. I don't regret purchasing it, I'm just a bit annoyed.

The game is fine. Not as good as the rest of the Kingdom Rush games and it really need an encyclopedia and i really miss the option of choosing between the two max tier towers previous titles used to have. I give the game a 6/10.

So not worth the money for many of the reasons already stated. Beautiful artwork, some new towers, pretty cool. But sort of a rework of KR2. Here, they artificially increase the difficulty by adding a great many "dual path" scenarios. Their last couple games had some, and it was ok, but this game seems to depend on dual path to increase difficulty instead of using ingenuity.

Rating: ★★½☆☆
Quick Review
Kingdom Rush 5: Alliance TD uses the same Kingdom Rush formula with a few changes as part of the new alliance system. It’s a cool idea, but honestly, it doesn’t make much of a difference compared to the previous games. It scratches my tower defense itch, but that’s about it. It feels like the series is playing it too safe to make any real changes.
Key Points

What’s New?: The alliance system lets you team up with Kingdom and Veznan's factions and allows two heroes at the same time, which is neat. But it’s more of a small twist than a big leap forward.
The Experience: Classic Kingdom Rush. Great visuals, smooth gameplay, and all the charm you’d expect. Still, it’s starting to feel a little too familiar.
Biggest Letdown: They didn’t take any risks. The alliance mechanic is nice, but it’s not enough to make this feel fresh or exciting.

Conclusion
If you love Kingdom Rush, you’ll have a good time, but don’t expect to be blown away. For newcomers, it’s a fun game, but maybe check out the earlier titles first—they feel just as good, if not better.
