Played it a while ago and I'll go back to get every achievement eventually but it's truly a charming game. I had so much fun with it. Every character having their own silly speech patterns makes them all so memorable. The speech mechanic is also so fun, and even if I'm ass at solving puzzles I enjoyed shooting different sentences at every character to see if they had a special reaction.

possibly The greatest game of all time. the gameplay gimmick / puzzle-solving is super fun with a lot of room for the player to explore and experiment with dialogue, the story/characters are some of my favorites Ever, the soundtrack and art are amazing........... if you're into story-focused games this is absolutely worth the price and absolutely worth playing. my only criticism is that i wish it was a little longer, but that just means that what's already in there is compelling enough to leave me wanting more. plus theres awesome puppets in it you want to see them trust me

I can tell this game's going to become a hyperfixation. I can feel it in my brain. The characters in this game are wonderful and the story has a lot to say on things going on in the world right now. IT tells a story about fear, and what that fear drives people to do, and how the only way to push past that fear is each other. It's a breath of fresh air with how it doesn't shy away from letting its characters form relationships, it lets there be a wonderful array of gender queerness that I don't get to see in titles that pick up steam. Great God Grove is special to me in a way I can't explain, but would always recommend. I didn't play Smile for Me, the other game by this developer, but there's just a whimsy to their game that is only really obvious when you play the game yourself. It reminds me of the games I would play as a younger kid and how the world would seem so vast while still being so close. I would recommend this game at full price, no hesitation. It even more fun when you hold a friend hostage to help read the characters dialogue. (thank u Okami <3) 10/10, easily. I cannot express my love for this game enough.

A nice time I didnt think too much about until playing it with some friends over discord, and now we dont shut the hell up about it. The art style is fresh, the characters are endearing (even the ones you hate), and there's ample help if you get stuck. One for the his-toy-ree books ps i dont know if i need king or if need to be king but either way rrrrRRUFFRUF BARKBARKBARKBARK ykwim

Great God Grove is a vibrant, artful puzzle game with an impossible amount of heart put into every inch of it. You can truly tell this game is the product of a team that loved their work. Visually, there's nothing quite like it, and while it won't blow your mind with insane graphics or crazy psychonauts style tricks, what it does deliver on is one of a kind. The writing and characters are charming, the puzzles were at time a tiny bit obtuse but never downright frustrating (or especially hard, if that's a concern), and the story itself was great. What this does falter on though is pacing. A lot of the major conflicts were resolved as quickly as they were introduced. If you were hoping to see the gods interact with or comment on each other, you'd be dissapointed. I came into this expecting to have to resolve interpersonal drama between deities, but I mostly spent it solving charming, albeit simplistic small town conflicts on their behalf. I think the writing would've benefited a lot from lingering more on the gods. Not extending their quests, per se, but giving us a little more to do with them. Side quests or some form of backtracking in the late game to re-visit the cast would've been a great way to make some of the resolutions feel more earned. Having to deliver messages or play out quests between gods of different zones would've made the world feel more tangible and less videogame-y. A little more buildup or work before it's excellent finale would've gone a long way. (Also, I won't spoil two exactly, but the fact we never got to help setup or even hear about the first date for a particular couple is criminal.) All in all, amazing game that I wish we had more time to linger in and really get to know. I understand indie games are limited in scope, and I'll always take a clever team that sets solid end points than one that adds and adds forever, but the assets were all already there, I just wanted to see them used more. (I'd kill for a little epilogue DLC, btw) Play this right away, I can't wait to see what the team's next big project is. This world is ripe to be re-visited, but equally so would I look forward to something wholly new. Great work, worth the price of admission, even if its a bit short.

An absolute treat of a game! Great God Grove has got a smooth and simple control scheme that's backed up by an incredible artistic direction, memorable cast of characters, and spectacular soundtrack. An absolute must-play in my eyes! Besides all of that, don't forget... Praise Inspekta!

Its a very cute and fun game! I really like it and the characters are so compelling and well written, would highly recommend. Its bright, silly and fun but also covers some heavy topics without feeling out of place and with a good amount of weight to it!

Obviously the art and the story and the characters and the puzzles are all so fun and I absolutely recommend it for all of those reasons, but on a deeper level I'm also just really entranced by the gods' animations... so satisfying to the eye...

Very fun. World and characters are quirky and enjoyable. P absolutely steals the show. Art is fantastic, the sound design in stellar. I love the unique music and voice of the different gods, as well as their animations. Story is fun, but it drags a bit towards the end. The penultimate chapter felt somewhat shallow: progression was linear, there wasn't much to explore, and stakes felt underwhelming. The story was wrapping up in a very predictable way, and I just wanted to get on with it already. That being said, Chapter 2 was fantastic. Cobigail was super fun, the mystery was interesting and suspenseful, Saul was a great mini-antagonist, and the resolution was wholesome as heck. The central mechanic of re-using other people's words is neat, but it gets very shallow towards the middle of the game. In the first chapter, you get access to a bunch of general phrases that are flexible and can get a varied reaction out of characters. As the game progresses, the phrases became more and more specific, to the point there was barely any point to playing with them. They just felt like keys to take from point A to point B rather than a new tool to try out on everything around you. This is noticeable in the limited inventory: in chapter 1 your want to collect as many phrases as possible because they all do something. But in chapter 3+ you rarely feel the need to 'hold onto' phrases because they're only used in 1-2 places. Obviously keeping this mechanic deep is challenging and would require more time and resources to develop, but since it's the central mechanic of the game I would've hoped to see more from it. One thing I think was missing in this game compared to 'Smile for me' is the connection to the characters. This game has a lot more characters, and most of them are limited to a single chapter. The only characters you get to bond with are the busyboys, which is why they stand out. As such, the world and the characters felt less 'personal' than in 'Smile for me'. Overall, a neat, cozy little game that's not afraid to talk about feelings. Worth it for the art design alone, but the story and game are pretty darn good as well.
