A great, beautiful pixel art, a lot of music genres that is interesting to listen and a great adventure game about kindness and that looks doesn't define you and full of religious allusions. Dropsy is both a nod to christianity and Superman (surprisingly). Would've been great to have all the previous small games that came before as a package for collectors :)

Awww, what a lovely game. Seriously, you can see that there was a lot of love in the making of this game. Dropsy is a misunderstood, unfortunate-looking clown who just wants to hugs everyone and make people smile! There's a lot of lore to the game and you uncover it little by little. I was shocked to find out that there's a very specific reason as to why there's no text in the game - actually, the text looks like gibberish, but there's a VERY interesting reason to it, but no spoilers here! The art is pretty cool too. It's not an easy game. The map is really big and you have to do a LOT of walking back and forth before getting a vehicle - by the way, that could have happened sooner in the game. If you don't my using a walkthrough or tips, you'll have a lot of fun though. Dropsy is very endearing, his animal friends are adorable, and seeing them happy feels like a warm Dropsy hug!

I bought this game in 2016, just after my now wife and I had started dating. Since then we've played through it a handful of times, and it brings back good nostalgic memories each time - from our humble beginnings in a single bedroom apartment, making 15 bucks an hour, to now. Dropsy oozes with charm, a cute and intriguing storyline, and character development - all without readable text. Well worth your time and money.

Dropsy has a weirdly put together story with a lot of loose ends. It's based off a "choose your own adventure" forum post that end up having parts cut or vastly changed for the game to work. Although the core concept remains, saying the story was "made by the internet itself" is a bit of an overstatement — the original thread is much shorter and the changes result in a mix of questionable plot points and sudden lore dumps on the final chapter. I reached out to the developers back in 2018 and found out the game was meant to have one more map, but they ran out of time and had to cut it out. I can't tell whether the Beach episode update fills in the plot holes or not; to be frank, I just found out about the update. Either way, this is a very good introduction to the adventure point and click genre. The day/night cycle and character swapping mechanics keep things interesting even though you can't combine items. It also teaches players to search for leads around maps and knows not to overwhelm or trick them into incorrect solutions. Last but not least, the tracks by Hypnospace Outlaw's Jay Tholen are remarkable and both him and Jesse have done an amazing job ensuring characters have personality despite coming from an internet hot pot. That's what got people interested in contributing in the first place: seeing their decisions being translated into pixel art scenes.

For some reason I kept putting this off because I was under the impression it might be scary? It's definitely a little sad and a little creepy but I really loved it and Dropsy is such a wholesome lil guy. The ending was really surprising and made me a little emotional! Really enjoyed the art and sound design in this, big recommendation if you like point and click games!

I really enjoyed this game! The art is great and the story was compelling. I like that you get to hug everything. I did find this game really hard. The puzzles weren't intuitive and I had a hard time navigating the story since there was no text, only pictures. I had to use a walkthrough because most of the time I found myself wandering back and forth, unsure of what to do. If you're really good a puzzles, are patient, or are ok with consulting a walkthrough, I would recommend this game. The only annoying thing is that the achievements don't work properly and will only pop on the menu screen so you will need to click the yellow refresh button in the setting menu to make them pop. There is also a point of no return so make sure to have multiple saves going in case you want to 100% the game.

Dropsy is one of those games that makes my heart melt and is a certified Jay Tholen banger, genuinely one of my favourite point and click games of all time because of how it made me feel, and I say that as someone who rates Hypnospace Outlaw as one of, if not my favourite game of all time. It's so bouncy, colourful, cute, adorable and is just a wonderful adventure from start to finish. It is a fantastic little open world point and click adventure, where you play as a wholesome but sadly misunderstood clown called Dropsy who just wants to help people, spread joy to others and give out as many hugs as he can along the way with the help of his cute little animal friends. The graphics are wonderfully drawn and animated with bright pastel colours and chunky pixel art, the music is really fun and varied, the strange and interesting world that's weird in all the right ways, the many characters are fun to meet and even more so when you solve their problems. Without a doubt it has that Jay Tholen/Tendershoot magic that made Hypnospace Outlaw so amazing and special even before that game released. I would say it's a con that I often found myself stumped, lost and wandering around a lot in my playthrough, but I can easily chalk that up to me missing the small clues and details and a guide to help me through didn't hurt my experience one bit. I certainly tried to solve as much of the game as I could, but whenever I do get stumped, I always feel dumb whenever I find out the solution was so simple all along, apart from those really complex and multi-faceted puzzles of course. It also has a really memorable story to boot, with a wonderfully animated intro cutscene that shows the backstory of why Dropsy is so unloved by his community at the beginning, where even his dreams are constantly haunting him with memories and visions of his past, the guilt that torments him and reminders of what he lost due to these past events, it's genuinely sad stuff. And to have this game's entire story told without words and still getting these emotional moments out of me makes it quite the special game. But even with all that said and all the sad, tragic and messed up stuff you can find in this journey, it is the main character Dropsy himself that really brings this whole game together into a wonderful, wholesome and adorable point and click hugventure. He doesn't have a single bad bone in his body, he never judges even those who hate him, he is willing to go out of his way to right the wrongs he never caused and wants to bring nothing but joy and happiness to everyone around him, because that's what make him happy. Every problem solved and every hug given makes him smile with such goofy sincerity that it makes me wish I could hug him too. Dropsy is genuinely the kindest, most loving and most wonderful game character I've ever seen in my life and this game handles that in a way that's so genuine, so well done and so impactful that seeing those small details when he draws pictures of his friends that made hanging up in his room, or how he tries to hug a certain character at the end of the game (not spoiling it because of course) shows how powerful Dropsy's love for everything and everyone goes beyond anything any other game character has ever achieved. He alone really brings this game and its strange and out there elements all together into a wholesome whole. I wish I could give him a hug just because it makes him happy, because happiness is what he deserves. Dropsy is a game that made me feel the whimsy, the sadness, the joy, the heartache, the happiness, the feels and most importantly; the love of this silly weirdo clown who just wants to make the world a brighter place in his own little way. 10/10 would hug again
