I don't know where to start. This game was a masterpiece. A fun game. I guess it was too good of a game so the devs thought it was a great idea to destroy it. I am in tears. I don't know what to do anymore.
Yesterday I got so mad that I threw my computer out the window... now my wife and kids are gone.
Today I'm planning to book rehabilitation for my forever lasting scars... guys help me D,:

"Easy Anti Cheat - Waiting for game" during game launch. Why are we waiting for something to start a local single player game? Will servers go down and the game will be borked?

Me and my friend spent 1 hour trying to get to play online and isn't working. The game is using an external account manager, wants us to link our steam account even though it doesn't work and not available on their own website, I verified my game's account through the mail sent. Game was saying to me and my friend "Buy a license to play the game" which we both did during summer sale, the game is mixed reviews anyways, go figures... It looked fun, a nice Diablo-like game, but nvm... Devs are using strange methods to bring players into their game.

Even in a paid game, classes are locked behind a paywall.
I sincerely regret buying this game.

Aside from the server issues EVERY season (at least that's what it feels like) there's just no reason to play Hero Siege in its current state over the myriad of other ARPGS that do what it does but better or are just a better game in general. Ignoring the egregious monetization (POE is also fairly guilty of this but at least POE doesn't lock playable classes behind a paywall), the current gameplay loop just doesn't feel very rewarding and the highest difficulty to unlock is walled off by the prices of mats on the market (or you have to spend literal days farming for everything (iirc steelmage spent days farming for just one attempt)) not to mention that one ( might be both actually) of the bosses required was/is bugged in multiplayer groups so after going through all the trouble of farming materials for it you'd have like a 60% chance of it bugging out and just not counting the kill. TL;DR just go play a different ARPG theres like five different ones that are worth your time off the top of my head (d2r/pd2,poe1,LE,TL2,GD)

Randomly get one shotted, get stuck in terrain and bosses simulator. If you expected a casual, chill arpg that you can play while turning off your brain to kill monsters this one is not it.

I’ve played Hero Siege casually on and off over the years for the first time around 2014 when it released. Back then, it had a fun flow and a solid blend of roguelike mechanics.
But somehow, with each return, the game felt a bit worse.
The shift away from roguelike runs may have made sense long-term, but ever since, things just haven’t clicked the same way. The quest system feels pointless, especially when paired with how clunky and unrewarding the looting has become. Progression and balance don’t feel satisfying anymore, and overall, it just doesn’t feel worth the time.
I genuinely enjoyed the hours I spent with Hero Siege in the past but in its current state, I can’t recommend it.

The pixel art and visuals in Hero Siege are cool and full of personality. Unfortunately, the actual gameplay mechanics drag the experience down. The combat feels clunky and the reworked systems in 2.0 just made things more like a Diablo 2 cheap knockoff. Sadly, the game feels tedious and uninspiring.
4/10, only for the art style.

Making an account took ages of waiting and several reboots and even if you make it, when you try to login, game will keep timing you out

So I'm not as experienced as many of the other reviewers here but I will say how I see it.
I bought the game in the 2017, it was a nice arpg. Had some identity crisis, but still was original in some ways. Loved the game. I was taking some breaks, but every now and then I had to come back.
And then Hero Siege 2.0 happened.
So I tried Beta. It was complete revamp of what Hero Siege seemed to aspire before. Now It coppied many things from Diablo 2. Didn't like it. But oh well, I guess we'll see how the official launch goes.
Can't say much about the official launch tbh. I disliked it from the beginning and quit.
But years have passed and I thought to give it a shot once again. This time I spent some time but I believe my experience got even worse. Now the devs copied some mechanics from other ARPGs ie. Last Epoch. It seems like the game lost its originality and is now a mish mash of everything. And to be honest I hate it. If I wanted a D2 clone with some mechanics from different games I'd try a private server for d2, or modded d2. There's no point of copying from other games if the core is also not something original. I thought that it was just my mind seeing it that way, but now reading reviews of other people I see it's not my imagination.
So finishing. If you'd ask me 5 years ago if I recommend this game, I'd say of course. There was something that every now and then brought you back to the game. Now? Not really. The only reason I get back to play is to check if it finally changed.
I saw some screenshots of what devs were like during the whole HS 2.0 change and it looks bad, but I was not present during that so I will never know the context behind it all.
Nevertheless, if you're looking for a new experience, I don't think HS is the game you're looking for.
