Very unexpectedly fun. I bought this when it was on a really good sale to try something fun with leftover cash. If you like 2d style games this is for you!

Honestly, the game has been hit really hard by the reviews for the revamp.
As a new player I can only judge the content as it is, so if you're reading for that - this is one of them.
The game has a lot of classes and variety, a ton of items, a loot filter and a very unique gameplay loop (very similar to Vampire Survivors in a way).
If you like aRPGs, this game is one for when you're playing in the off-season of your main aRPG - absolutely no question about it. And given how well it runs and how few bullshit deaths there are in the game, this is also quite nice on Hardcore or SSF (you actually get drop increases in SSF).
Highly, highly recommended for the absurdly low price. Less than a dollar on sale, about 15 euros total if you want all the classes and DLC.

Played this back in 2015. Back then it was a roguelite and pretty fun. You could get seriously busted without leveling up much too. But coming back to it and finding out it's like Path of Exile was wild. The beta version for "herosiege1" is just a Diablo version. At that point I shelved it. Came back when someone else bought it and decided I'd at least give it a try while they played. And it's fine. If this is what it was at the beginning I'd maybe recommend (though the heavy mtx is absolutely ridiculous. Paid game with paid skins with a subscription service? That much greed for an indie really? I partly play indies to get away from AAA scum). But it is by no means the game it used to be and the one that I enjoyed and wanted. Making such a drastic change with no way to go back is already scummy. It was a cool game. It's now an.... okay game at best. And I will not be buying anything from this studio again.

Loved this game with my friends in the pass, but it is now a shell of its former self as a bunch of its content is locked behind DLC and the butchering of its originality was stripped from it, this was a great rogue-like game with fun and goofy elements turned into a low effort none inspiring Diablo clone.

Many preditory Microtransactions, its insane, I bought this on sale for like 77 cents, and its still not worth, because buying inventory slots is 4 bucks there, getting another class is another 8 bucks there (on sale 1,75)
I was okay with this game being a diablo-like because I was looking for a alternative to the live-service model diablo-likes, but this game has that same monetarization without the live-service server structure to have at least a reason for said microtransactions

ultra repetitive gamplay and clunky , similar / boring zones and monsters
passives and items are mediocre at best, itemization feels like a chore more than game experience since from level 1 you have 99999 items on the ground including epics. played for 1 hour and already have too many mythic items to carry
I wish they would focus more on the game experience than microtransactions. I spent 0.7$ for this game and now I see why ... they make you come in in the hopes you buy all the garbage in the store
Game has potential but it's being managed by morons. Focus on gameplay not in game stores you cashgrab trash scum ... stick to mobile games and f...k off steam if this is your idea of game development
P.S. really amazing how I feel scammed even by paying $0.77 this is worse than a FTP mobile game

The gameplay itself is a nice Diablo 2 clone but I can't recommend it over the amount of microtransactions, subscriptions and DLCs that was slapped into an already paid game.
Classes and lategame content is locked behind DLCs and some of the newest ones have noticeable powercreep to them. Your cabin is locked behind a subscription and there is a microtransaction for just everything although the latter can be somewhat ignored alongside it being entirely cosmetics only.
Overall? Consider other games like Path of Exile which, ironically, is F2P and has better monetization model than this.

Locking character slots and stash tabs behind paywall in offline mode is complete and utter BS.
Also, can't even pause the game. In offline mode. What the hell is this, first week of early access?

Came back after not playing for a year or more to find out all characters erased and DLC gone. never playing again. The absolute nerve to delete hours upon hours of peoples gaming time is ludicrous.

was a good game years ago
it was called finished and had a few expansions
then all of a sudden the game was handed off to another team
they turned it more diablo like with a mana system among other things
now today looking at it seems they removed the old expansions, even from owners dlc lists?
its changed so much from what people paid for in the past
when it was considered and called finished
its honestly not the same game anymore......
games should not go from finished to vastly changed
if they wanted to do that they should have made a second game dont vastly change what people paid for
there was three early collector edition expansions or regular editions
they are now removed from everyones accounts so any extras from collectors editions are most likely gone
supported and lost your dlc and most likely any items that came with collectors
another thing was old days if recall did not require a login to play the game
so it was shifted to online
https://steamdb.info/search/?a=all&q=hero+siege
listed game and dlcs they purged the old expansions completely from the steam database seems leaving us with nothing we paid for? no dlc and possibly no items
