Great Metroidvania! I am not going to spoil the story here but the game starts with a demon helping your character and becoming your companion throughout the game. This demon gives you certain abilities that you can use in the game and there are more abilities to unlock as you level up. There is a plot twist towards the end (obviously). I had a lot of fun with it even though it was a bit easy apart from some boss fights. Overall a very enjoyable game. I found myself coming back to it and even played it on the go on my Steam Deck. Great pixel art / retro inspired graphics. Great soundtrack. Great gameplay. Recommended.

Beautiful pixel art, fun unique mechanics, so-so story and an unbelievably good soundtrack. this game does it all. With a moderate difficulty and all those great things going for it this is a great starting point for anyone who is curious about the genre. Tons of secrets to discovery, and a decent amount of combat stuff to master the game managed to stay fresh from start to finish. The full price is honestly a steal for a game that is so well crafted and clearly made with lots of love. These devs are miracle workers

Blade Chimera – A Stunning Original from Team Ladybug I highly recommend this game. Team Ladybug has absolutely outdone themselves with Blade Chimera. This is their first game featuring a completely original story and cast of characters, and they’ve knocked it out of the park. The narrative is engaging, and I genuinely enjoyed following it from start to finish. The art style is simply breathtaking, beautiful, fluid, and full of personality. It’s clear the developer is evolving with each release, and Blade Chimera is proof of that growth. Every detail feels thoughtfully crafted, and the gameplay complements the story perfectly. The way the character traverses the world is genuinely fun and innovative, it adds a whole new layer to exploration and keeps the gameplay fresh throughout. It’s one of those mechanics that just feels good to use. I loved this game. It’s a strong step forward for Team Ladybug, and I’m excited to see what they do next.

After playing Deedlit in Wonder Labyrinth, I decided that I would buy Team Ladybug games sight unseen. I'm glad I did, because Blade Chimera is an absolute gem. The gameplay is strong (literally the closest you can get to cyberpunk Symphony of the Night) and the story is entertaining to the point that I would watch this as an anime. It's an indie game so of course there are going to be some issues (for one, the difficulty needs to be turned up), but overall I've really enjoyed my time and would love to see some kind of sequel in the future.

Another great Team Ladybug Metroidvania. Some translation issues aside - captivating story, interesting setting, fitting soundtrack, quality pixel art, solid combat and exploration. The fast travel system now makes me wish other Metroidvania's that were hurt by tedious backtracking had it implemented. Not much to complain about except the final boss being excessively difficult in comparison to the rest of the game's difficulty.

"An exceptional Metroidvania with god-tier gameplay—but the plot falls flat." Blade Chimera blew me away in terms of gameplay. The combat is incredibly fluid, and once you get a handle on your main weapon, secondary firearm, and soul familiar, you feel unstoppable. Maybe even too unstoppable. By the time I hit level 45, not even the final boss posed a real threat. The mechanics are so well-designed that they almost work against the challenge curve—once everything clicks, it’s like you’re breaking the game in half. One ability in particular—the early-game teleport—really broke the sense of exploration for me. Part of the fun in Metroidvanias is mentally bookmarking locations and revisiting them once you unlock new abilities. But with teleport, you can just mark a spot and zip back anytime. It removes that satisfaction of organically re-discovering past areas. It’s a cool mechanic, but feels more suited for a New Game+ mode than a first playthrough. Visually, the game is a masterpiece. The pixel art is pushed to its limits in the best way—highly detailed, full of atmosphere, and stylistically distinct. The setting is rich and full of potential… which brings me to the story. Unfortunately, the plot just doesn’t live up to the rest of the game. The protagonist is underdeveloped, side characters feel like placeholders, and while the final boss has something resembling an arc, the reasons for the conflict are muddled and unconvincing. The ending left me disappointed—it didn’t feel earned, and honestly made the story's shortcomings even more obvious. Still, despite the weak narrative, I strongly recommend Blade Chimera for the gameplay alone. If you love combat-heavy Metroidvanias, this is one of the most satisfying I’ve played in years.

Alchemetic Formula For Excellence 1. A dab of Shin Megami Tensei 2. A sprinkling of Shadowrun/Cyber-Punk 3. Two table spoons of Symphony Of The Night 4. A pinch of Metal Gear Revengeance 5. A flickering of Devil May Cry (Enchanted sentient sword with an assortment of guns!) 6. Crank up the rizz soundtrack that could be mistaken as a Yuzo Koshiro tribute compilation to harmonize the fusion process 7. Wear safety gloves to remove the perfect gemrald from its' crystalline encasement! For you if. +You like metroidvanias of the classic variety (Such as the ones showcased in Konami's recent Castlevania DS collection or the Gal Guardian games by Inti Creates.) +You have enjoyed Lady Bug's previous works. (Lunar nights,Wonder Labyrinth, etc.) +You are more fond of the journey than rushing to the finish line. +You are appreciative of a few new ideas while being equally appreciative of established fundamentals that just work. Not for you if -You speed-run metroidvanias without taking your time to uncover all the nooks and crannies off the beaten path. -You prefer metroidvanias with newer design philosophies and unique aesthetics behind them. (More Akin to Hollow Knight or Sundered.) -You want a metroidvania on a truly grandiose scale. (Something more like After Image or Frontier Hunter Ezra's Wheel Of Fortune) -You prefer romanticized gothic horror/gothic fantasy overtones over a cyber-punk futuristic setting. (Vigil The Longest Night,Ender Lilies,Bloodstained Ritual Of The Night, etc.)
