Violet Kingdom is a legitimately good RPG Maker game. The combat in it is both surprisingly fun and relatively well balanced (outside the extremely early game, where fights can be a bit of a slog due to the very large number of enemies in some of the early fights, the lack of AoE, and the fact that you mostly get good gear by fighting the fancy goblins for a bit of time). Despite the large number of party members, almost all of them feel unique in combat and are relatively balanced. Some of them are not as good at certain points, such as Beau seeming to have less late-game options, but I never felt a character was useless, and even Beau was handy in my party for the final boss, just probably not the best choice (and admittedly, I built Beau in a kind of ridiculous way, so some of that one might be my fault).
I will say that the game is not without flaws, but they are pretty minor, all in all. I only ever found a single even slightly meaningful bug, which is extremely impressive given the game's scope. Not all of the maps are that great (I liked some, but there are visible tile mistakes with like two-tile-wide bookshelves only having one of the two used in others). The story I actually enjoyed more than I initially expected going in, but (possibly due to the wide set of party members) some of the characters ended up extremely forgettable. The one downside is that the, although the story tells you where to go next consistently, if you don't remember where to go, there is often very little direction. Thankfully, it seems the forums will answer any questions consistently if you ever forget, and the game is both consistent about telling you where to go and clear about it without breaking the flow of things. Additionally, the game does have some spelling issues, but I did not find them so bad as to diminish my experience, and they never made anything even slightly difficult to understand for me.
The game's length is also quite impressive. It took me 27 hours to take my run through, and although I did most of the side quests, I did not try to do all of them, and I also didn't end up leveling up characters extra or grinding much (I had to grind a small amount for the final boss, but the game gives extremely good grinding gear by that point, so it didn't take long when I could get a character to ~1500% experience per battle). Given that this was made by a single developer, that's a remarkable amount of time. Throw into that the amount of gear options, some of the skills, and the two large "world map" style areas with a nice set of hidden things to look at and find, and it's a game that was so much bigger than I expected going into it.
Altogether, I will say that Violet Kingdom was quite a good game and I enjoyed playing it quite a bit. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a solid JRPG, especially if one enjoys solid combat.

A return to the classics. i bought this game because it reminded me of games I used to play. I wanted those nostalgic feelings and Violet Kingdom has not let me down. I haven't completed the game yet, but so far the story is engaging, I love the feeling of exploring and progression. I look forward to continuing my adventure in the next gaming session.

Another wonderful RPG by Wolfs Moon Studios/Shane. This is where this developer shines - good story, lots of interesting characters with unique abilities, well balanced game play, turn based system, lots to explore....took me about 37 hrs to complete. Highly recommend. Definitely check this developer's other games as well. Some are like this - old school RPG (like Barry of Wrath, Angel Made). Others have some different styles/game play. Definitely something for everyone!

I am the proud owner of all games from this developer, so I immediately bought this one as soon as it came out. It did not disappoint either. This game features a wonderful story, interesting characters and beautiful new maps. Although there is no weapon and potion crafting, the rewards after killing monsters are great so it makes up for it. Anyway, this is another great game from this studio, which I recommend to all fans of RPG games.

If you've played Shane's games before, this is one of them. You already know if you'll like this one.
If you haven't, maybe start with Barry of Wrath.

Let's just say that Violet Kingdom is one fantastic rpg. The story is well done and I like that you play different characters at different parts of the game until they all unite. Each of the characters have special skills and magic. The AP and VE point system allows you to upgrade your characters. Battles are quick and enjoyable as you never know what goodies they will drop (some are great weapons, armor and relics). So many different creatures and bosses to battle. There are quests and some take awhile to complete. Searching everywhere is a must. There is no confusion where to go next as it is explained in detail. This is Wolfs Moon Studios' 10th game and it is a must play rpg just like the rest of them. Super highly recommended.

Embark on the whimsical journey of Violet Kingdom, masterfully crafted by Wolfs Moon Studios, where Princess Violet's adoption story takes center stage in a royal symphony of multiple character storylines converging into an epic final battle. The game's nostalgic old-school graphics add charm, and the enchanting soundtrack is more magical than a wizard's melody. Violet, or perhaps 'Violent,' humorously dominates the scene, turning this kingdom into a 'Violent Kingdom' with a touch of hilarity as she effortlessly outshines the forgettable Daniel from the studio's previous venture. It's a nostalgic visual treat and a narrative rollercoaster, where every pixel unfolds into an adventure. In this kingdom, Violet proves herself as the reigning monarch, making 'Violent Kingdom' a whimsical triumph for Wolfs Moon Studios.

great game with lots to do.
Engaging and very varied characters allow for a wide variety of playing styles (as evidenced in the discussions on the forum)
It is worth talking to everyone and searching everywhere to find the subquests and the items needed to fulfill them, as the rewards are all worth having.
Loads of good drops (including some of the best accessories) from enemies make it easy to keep up with the pace. And don't kid yourself that you don't need all that cash - there is a really good way to spend it later in the game.

I can't stand this game any longer.
It is not that the dev used maps I've seen in other games before.
Or that the enemies are boring....well they are or at last the fights are. Someone tells about different tactics with all
the possible party members....but in the end it is the party with a) best hitters and healers.
No, what i real hate in this game are the endless tube-like dungeons were you encounter a few (very few for every dungeon) different groubs. They are not hard to fight but it cost time....and we shouldn't forget the boss-fights. Again, they have no chance to win the fight...but it takes ages till some of them are down.
And than comes the real boring part...for most dungeons after you beat the boss....you must walk all the way back.....fighting against the same boring enemies over and over again.
And what makes it worse: there is no way to increase the walking speed.
And now comes the hammer.....NO MAPS....not in dungeons...not for the overworld. Also no journal or quest log.
If you play the game after a few days....I hope you have an good memory what you must do...or have written it down.....else you walk around till you (perhaps) find the next goal.
And an RPG without an worldmap....hey dev that is a NO GO since ages ago.
There are so many other (not so overpriced like this) RPGMaker games around that are more fun to play.....decide for yourself if you want to waste endless time with this one.
I can't recommend it.
