I played the demo version which I thought was great and the full game game kept the same creepy atmospheric feeling if not better. More lore was added to these dolls which was awesome and the jump scares came right at you which were almost impossible to predict and I had tons of fun with it. The dolls were wonderfully made in a scary way and I thought they were cool. Only 2 very minor glitches occurred such as a floating knife in the air which I thought was hilarious and for some reason when i tried putting in one of the codes and try to exit out, it wouldn't let me so I had to exit out the game. Best part about the game was that there were saving points and i picked up where i left off with the puzzle and it worked beautifully which was a saving grace. Very happy with the game 8.8/10 https://youtu.be/CMwsC7IxM3Q

Jumpscares: 3/5 Storyline: 2/5 Atmosphere: 2/5 (It's too quiet of a game) Voice Acting: 3/5 ( Was a bit silly as mentioned in other reviews) Puzzles: 3/5 (Nothing too difficult to figure out) Price: Fair Playtime: About an hour if you know what you're doing. Other Known Issues: I died several times and still wonder why I need 7 lock picks. Had one of the dolls able to attack me from downstairs through the floor twice Overall: 3/5 Just for it's price but the storyline is where I wasn't sold.

Played on Linux using Proton Exp, Worked okay, played okay, Graphics are okay (Assets), sound is somewhat okay, Game Play is Okay, You can die (Only happened 1 time for me) and then have to restart from the beginning of the Level, It about an hour long, Mostly walking sim with some codes to find and work out to open safes to get keys, Objects to pick up and use somewhere, battery's for the camcorder, some notes to read, etc, The night vision of the camcorder is awful and can see better without using the camcorder at all, Tries it's best to jump scare but only once did it catch me out and made me jump, Might be a bit Pricey for an hour of play, so best to get it on sale. Oh and the players voice is err weird, sounds like someone who done a YouTube Video with commentary... I will recommend the Game as it does have some nice atmosphere.
Be Very Careful and Never Underestimate Her Dolls...
I played through the demo for this game back in October and thought it had a lot of promise. Unexpectedly, I saw that the game was released last month, so I had to check out the full version. Overall, it was an okay experience. Playing an unknown protagonist, players arrive in an abandoned village that once was home to many, including one doll maker named Martha. One may wonder what happened to everybody in the town. Still, as you progress, you get a potential idea of where they went along with the doll maker herself. The only thing left inhabiting the town is dolls once owned by Martha. But be very careful of them. Can you solve the mystery and have the survival skills to stay alive? Firstly, I want to say that the game isn’t the worst in the world, but it isn’t the best. I found things about it enjoyable, like the puzzles that made you think, the beautiful graphics, and the fascinating notes (lots of big words used). The story is pretty simple and okay, not really spectacular. It’s also a short game, so it shouldn’t take anyone long to get through. What really brought down this game for me was the use of AI voices. While I understand using AI is free and easy, it would’ve been nice to hear voice actors lending their voices to the characters. However, I will add it was slightly funny at times. Some of the jumpscares felt like they had no purpose, but it didn’t take me out of the game too much. As a whole, was Martha’s Dolls an okay experience? Yes. Would I still recommend playing it once? Yes. Do I still think we need more horror games involving dolls? Absolutely!
3 out of 5 ★★★☆☆!
If there was A way to rate this game neutrally I would, The start of the game I was fairly Impressed, but then upon playing some more the game started showing signs of being very rushed (Maybe an asset flip??), I really wanted to like the game more than I did but I simply can't. Pros: -The game is very nice looking graphically. -Gives heavy Outlast and dead silence vibes. -Puzzles were actually made you think at points. -The notes were somewhat poetic. Cons: -Too short. -AI voices and dialogue were outlandish and jarring. -Exterior was rushed and had very little outside of the play area. -Certain areas had no ambient sound at all. -Jumpscares came by the dozen and carried no weight because they were very predictable. -Felt cheap and shallow in terms of story. I cover a few more points in my playthrough here: https://youtu.be/dyv-_v39lQE?si=8QJmYxVwbxrgq01K

I really liked the first impression that the game gives off, it feels like it was made with passion and a lot of effort. I haven't finished it yet but for now, but the game is well worth the 3 dollars maybe even more.

i dont know how to describe this game in any other way then to call it a janky masterpiece. there where so many bugs, the voice acting wasn't good but it was amusing and had me laughing several times. there wasn't a whole lot of story but from the story there was it wasn't that bad kinda bland but i dont have anything negative to say about it, the characters where honestly my Favourite part, the player was stupid but had quite a few funny lines and somehow even after the dolls literally told him what happened he was still not sure what happened, the dolls where fun characters that did have me feeling bad for them by the end (even though they f#####g stabbed me twice) the map design was actually quite good if you can ignore the missing corners in a few rooms and some objects disappearing when you get too close, the ending made no sense to me but maybe i missed some lore. but overall i liked the game and think it was 100% worth the $10 if you want a janky horror game with good jumpscares.

Played it yesterday, not everything was kind of clear on what to do from the start. Eventually when the developer joined the stream I figured out where to go next, wich was helpfull. The jumpscares were good, and the dolls are already creepy on their own. Voice acting was a bit off at some times, but that didn't make the game bad in any way. For a one man developer this game is pretty solid!

Emily wants to play with a different setting... different dolls... and a way to eager protagonist (the voice acting in this game does not match what is supposed to be being portrayed in the game itself). This game could've been better had it actually done something with all the dolls you get introduced to like Emily Wants To Play does... but most of the time you're just spent doing nothing of merit while the dolls do random stuff in the background. Save your money (and more importantly you're time) and pass this one over.

I really wanted to like this but I kind of cant. The AI voice acting kept taking me completely out of it. I even said on stream, especially for indie horror devs, you wouldnt believe how many horror content creators would gladly lend their voices to a game and not ask for pay, with that I dont believe theres any excuse to use AI voice acting. Aside from that, while SOME of the scares got me, most I ran right at because I saw them coming from a mile away. Audio levels were all over the place, ranging from too loud to too quiet, too literally no sound. I had to keep checking in some spots to see if I muted the game by accident. Visuals, it ran better than many other indie horrors I've played and didnt have to adjust graphics which was nice but also ran into many spots with randomly floating objects and items completely disappearing. I also almost never used the camera as I felt the night vision was just too dark to be helpful. The premise of the story I thought was actually good, just felt it was too rushed and needed expanded upon. Thats probably the best way to describe the game as a whole. Rushed and needed expanded upon.
