I really hoped this to be like Caesar III. It looks like Caesar III, but it simply lacks depth in the campaign and gameplay mechanics. The objectives do not feel hard to achieve and are incredibly repetitive.

This game is so much fun for those that love playing City Builders like I do! This one definitely scratches a brain itch i have with my ADHD and I am so thankful for it...do I ever finish games like this...NO but boy do I love spending hrs playing realizing i should change how I did my layout and with this game, instead of my starting new game policy you can move building with so much more ease which means I might actually complete one of my City Builder games!!! I'll check back in a month ;)

I initially was put off by the perceived difficulty of the game, but then realized that in order to build pretty mid or late-game, you have to be efficient in developing your city first. You can move buildings at no cost later. Work off of just one reservoir and one market to develop your city. This will be enough to get you through all tutorial missions. Leave space for stuff like bath, doctors etc. Work to increase housing levels rather than adding houses. It also helped that I stopped wasting resources in the beginning (fire station works with a well) which also saved money, and then focus on serving that first trade route, and things should go smoothly. Now I'm actually enjoying the game. Be aware that like most other city building games, you will need a pretty good GPU to play it. Also, if you don't like in-game military conflicts, this game is probably not for you. The buildings are beautiful, though, especially as they upgrade.

I think Citadelum is a very nice strategic city builder, especialy for beginners (since I am one). Its not to easy and can provide quit a challange in certan missions. Another nice touch is how the game leads you in step by step and get more difficult over time and missions. The Art is nice too. When you are searching for a city builder, where you can build your own Rom then this is just the game for you, and the free updates and dlcs are ofc very welcome as well. Very nice game indeed.

Cute game. Very easy. Very nostalgic of those good ol' Caesar days. Runs well, graphics and detail are good, no bugs from what I could see. Enough logistics etc to make it entertaining. Was a fun afternoon.

If you like watching numbers go up while buildings appear, this is your game.

What really hooked me early on was the way the game handles social classes. Plebeians wanted basic stuff like food and water, but once I unlocked the Patricians, they were way pickier—they needed wine, entertainment, and more. Balancing both groups kept me constantly strategizing.

It is Caesar 3 light. Less depth, simplified mechanics, distances are virtually irrelevant. External combat was added, which the original was missing, but unfortunately implemented in a way that feels rather gimmicky. Add to that, the game is not exactly a looker. Over all fun for a short bit, but due to its limitations gets old very quickly.

Played this game on original release and very much enjoyed the original campaign...It was a nostalgic diversion that kept me engaged throughout...but now with the FREE releases of two more mini-campaigns and the massive Julius 2.0 release I am back into it...the Julius update adds a stunning amount of depth and variance to the game and I find myself replaying the original campaign once again and it is like doing it for the first time...more nuance, more to manage, more level advancement and production management...This is a great entry into the historic builder genre...a throwback to Caesar 4 and Grand Ages: Rome but modernized just enough to make it relevant to today's burst of city builder releases.

If you played Zeus + Poseidon, this game is its modern counterpart with tons of cool new features. Definitely something I can get hooked on for hours.
