Game Review: Warlords Battle Simulator This Tactical Roguelike Auto Battler is a unique and engaging experience that brings a fresh twist to strategy games. Combining tactical depth with roguelike unpredictability, it challenges players to think critically about positioning, unit synergies, and adaptive strategies. With three distinct modes - Roguelike, Challenges, and Sandbox - it offers plenty of content to keep both casual and hardcore players entertained. Strengths: Varied Gameplay Modes: The Roguelike mode is the star of the show, offering an evolving and unpredictable narrative. The over 100 challenges add replayability and teach specific mechanics, while the Sandbox tool allows for creative experimentation. Strategic Depth: Success hinges on careful planning and understanding the strengths and weaknesses of units. This keeps battles engaging and forces players to adapt to new situations. Replayability: The game's roguelike nature, combined with numerous challenges, ensures that no two playthroughs feel the same. Areas for Improvement: While the game is undoubtedly fun and innovative, some aspects could be improved to enhance accessibility and reduce frustration, particularly for players stuck on more challenging levels. Hints and Unit Information: A hint system for missions or more detailed information about units’ strengths and weaknesses would be immensely helpful. For instance, knowing explicitly what types of enemies a unit counters or struggles against could save players from frustrating trial-and-error gameplay. Balance Issues: Certain levels, seem disproportionately difficult compared to the progression leading up to them. While difficulty spikes can be expected, they should be more clearly telegraphed or manageable through skillful play. Player Frustration Example: In a feedback provided, a player detailed their struggle with a specific mission involving orc archers and peons. Despite experimenting with different unit compositions, including the newly introduced mages, they were unable to progress. This frustration, compounded by the lack of guidance, detracts from the otherwise enjoyable experience. A simple tooltip suggesting effective strategies or adjustments to balance could resolve such pain points. Conclusion: This Tactical Roguelike Auto Battler delivers a compelling mix of strategy and roguelike gameplay, making it a standout in its genre. However, minor adjustments to player guidance and mission balance would significantly elevate the experience. Despite these setbacks, the game remains highly enjoyable and worth playing for fans of strategic and roguelike genres. I love it! Rating: 8/10 With improvements to guidance and balance, this could easily be a 9 or 10!

I love auto battlers, I love rougelites and rougelike games.. This however far on the worse end of games I'v played. The dev is doing something very different from other auto battlers and rogue lite based games by having this one not give you ability to upgrade any specific units and everything be army based and it seems ok at first however, it seems lazy. That's literally only pro I can give it over other games in the genre is that its very unique in this aspect, however its also having very little in the game. The supply aspect is interesting too how you can create different army every round though it doesn't make up for the numerous issues the game has. For example when units are fighting they arn't actually fighting and hit and take damage animations, the units do fake animates but the enemy health just slowly drains as if constant micro hits are happening. Not like hit and damage its simply draining damage based on what units is pretending to attack them. Also there's not much in the game, I don't mean for indie game with 1 dev being not much made compared to a triple A game I mean in terms of choices, actions, what you can actually do and interact with the game. It seems like the goal was to make a game, make it work, give it graphics, have a different idea then others and implicate that. There's not really spirit put into the game how you see games that have you being able to see what the dev had in mind instead your just playing a game that works. If there was a lot more in the game that you could actually interact with like upgrading units either specific units or giving a higher quality (not quantity) of abilities and that terrible animation crap where its fake combat the game could be worth while. I can't even have this on my steam deck for airport rides how much a this game lacks. The idea to the game is there, it just needs like 100 different things for it to be worth anything.

Dont be fooled by devs. It is not a battle simulator. There is absolutely no tactic in this game. Your units are retarded and always goes for nearest enemies. You can not flank, you can not give them orders - nothing. It is a game based on luck. If you get good random perks you will finish a game regardless of units. Dont waste your time. It is more a sand box than a game. I am really dissapointed and will refund this "game" now.

Strategic depth is non existent. The only correct way to play seems to be to maximize ranged unit damage in the back, and maximize armored unit hp close to your ranged units. Upgrades are 90% dmg or HP, boring I just won all the time no contest, no strategy, no counters needed.

So this game for $10 is great fun roguelike mechanics, the core gameplay loop is solid. You get into the action quick and... thats it. its a $10 game dont expect the world. With that said... This game has A LOT! of potential.. I could def see this as a slay the spire for roguelikes But its missing some really key "wow this is cool" upgrades. most of the upgrades you get are make this type of character deal x more damage or gain x hp. Thats pretty boring... Give the characters abilities and some add terrain changes, maybe a combat triangle like Fire Emblem to add extra strategy. Theres just alot that you can enjoy in this game. But it feels unfinished

Fun game, the AI really needs work and makes the game unplayable at times completly ignoring the closest target and loosing easy battles is just frustrating and beyond any standard.

A very solid game in the auto battler genre. Pros: - Low price for that quality - Adventure mode (StS like) - Good graphics - Lot of units with different battlefield roles - Unit choice and placement matter (some battles require really good planning). I know, there are reviews claiming that spamming most powerful unit will win the run, but good luck trying. - 4 factions with different play styles - Easy to learn... Cons: - ...not so hard to master: units attack the closest model at the beginning of battle, so if the enemy placement allows, there is a possibility to place a slower or shooty unit and your faster soldiers can cut the enemies without retaliation from their part until your bait unit dies - A lot of heroes for the adventure mode with different abilities and starting units which both can be gained/purchased on the way towards final boss, so not much difference between heroes apart from few starting battles - Funny ragdolls (some do breakdance after death) - Lest important, but annoying for me: no matter which faction you play, your colour is always blue For me 8/10 (7,5/10 if the price was higher) but much better than Mage and Monsters. After completing all missions and finishing adventure mode with all factions, I feel I will get back to this game for a run in the adventure mode during a spare hour after putting kids to sleep and while being too tired to play something more complicated. If the Devs will add a DLC with different faction, I will surely buy it.

i played 1 hours of this game there are good and bad point for me, but the bad one just remove the fun. i will judge this game for its price i play alot of auto battle and roguelike even tho its a bad review i hope this will help make the game better so i can change my view ^^ I only play the campagne mode (roguelike) so this review is only for this mode, from what i saw there is a lot of mission but its not a mode that attracte me if you like small mission with little puzzle i think this game is worth hes price. but to talk about the good and the bad : ++ a lot of units : there are a lots of choice for your army + fate systeme : the fact that if you cannot win a battle you can skip it avoid the fact where you get stuck and having mutiple life made the game easier if you missplayed ++ heros : like the unit you have a lots of heros to change how you start a run (not 3-4 more like 20 of them) +++ Devs : to be frank i was here at the start to refund the game but i wanted to see if my probleme was the same for other player but i saw that all probleme adressed was answer by the devs and patch for some of them its why even tho i don't like making review if it can help a little bit i will make this :) now the part that almost make me refund the game - ennemis : fight can feel almost the same after some time (don't forget i only talk about the roguelike mode) -- balancing : i didn't play before having the new targeting systeme but now he is there the fact you are the only one using it and the unit having no weight make some battle really easy if you see archer put your unit on focus them first and you make a straigt line to the killing them -- event : in the rogue like gender there is often event where in some of them its more high risk high reward in other its high reward if you make the right choice sadly in this one its avoid them a all cost ... you have a normal ecounter or loose 1 life (i think there is also a better shop with more rare drop) but if you pick one with a lot of gold you take risk to go against a battle and have normal reward, and if you go against bad omen loose 1 fate you also loose 1 battle so you loose an upgarde for yours army i think more event would make the game more enjoyable -- upgarde : i think you need more unique upgarde not a 35% damage against this but more like "armored unit gain 10% to not take damage" "ranged unit gain damage when nobody is near them" "precise unit deal more damage to unite with same keyword a them" for exemple (i didn't think a lot for the previous one i let you decide on what is better in your view) for now all upgarde is more like my stats are better to kill your unit cause i will be outnumber so i have unit with more stats ---- strategie ? : i don't know if the tactics update made the game too easy but i won the game twice and the run i started seem to go the same way you don't need a army choose your unit and go i won my first run using only light cav and the seconde using only ballista and if i had something unique to my run that alow this its would be fine but if my goal is to win the mode i just need to choose a unit pick all the upgard of this unit and you have so much stats that you don't need to have a real strat and overshadow the fact that there is a lot of unit. i don't really know how to fix that? maybe having a maximum of the same unit sorry for the writting english is not my 1st language and even in my 1st my writting is bad :S i hope this can help this game growing in a good game at least for the roguelike mode TLDR : you just spam a unit and win in rogue like mode , upgarde is all the same and you need to avoid event i would not advise buying it for now wait to see how the game evolve if you like roguelike i would be happy to change my opinion in the future and if something was to badly written to understand i will be happy to explaine what i meant
