Roguelike + insert weapon-triangle tactics game here. The art style is very 'vibey' so it's super chill to just load up an easy run and relax. The bulk of it is super straightforward, with synergies becoming more available as you get more commanders!

While somewhat clunky at first, this game has some really strong tactical turn based gameplay. While the number of maps is fairly small and you'll regularly see several of the same maps each run, the variations in enemy type and party composition make them still fresh while also being intentional. I found the early difficulties very manageable while I learned the systems (how to build units, prioritize weapons, and plan pathing through the overworld), and the higher difficulties incentivize playing quick but smart — enemies are strong and punishing, but you can't turtle through the maps due to the ticking turn counter which eventually makes fights stop rewarding experience. The writing is a bit awkward and limited, but it serves its purpose well enough. There seems to be some depth to the ending system that I haven't really gotten just by playing — some clarity while playing might be nice for achievement hunting purposes when runs take a decent amount of time.

I'm only a few hours in so far, but I'm really impressed with this game so far. Its presents with a veneer of low-budget quaintness, but as you play you quickly realize the devs know their stuff. This game builds expertly on the foundation of Fire Emblem with a delightful levelling system, meaningful weapon triangles, and lovely character customization that allows you to make a couple of hilariously broken units at the cost of a more balanced army. It's not perfect - there are some bugs and a some skill descriptions aren't entirely clear (particularly ones with variables in them, like "gain X stat"), but everything else is more than enough for me to recommend this.
