KH1+2 are as great as I remember, but the spin-offs not so much. However, the main games are what is important here so it's deffinitely worth buying just for those 2 games.

What can I say, it is Kingdom Hearts. Don't ask me to explain the story though.

Why in the unholy name of ass would they turn 358/2 days into a goddamn movie. It went from being an actual game, to an elongated cutscene. 2 hours and 50 minutes of just cutscene. Id have a better time getting an actual ds, and getting a copy of the real game. Screw you square enix.

Ah, the beautiful baby of the Disney-Squenix love affair. The Kingdom Hearts franchise is an interesting one. First off, credit where it's due: for the time KH1 originally came out, it was kind of earth-shattering. Even by today's standard, the combat system is fun and challenging with great scaling almost all the way through level 80 or so. The music and atmosphere was also next tier. Definitely pretty corny and cliche with the story-telling that was mostly pretty weak, but at the time, that was more than acceptable. Definitely revolutionized combat systems for these styles of games. With over 20 years of age, though, KH1's short-comings really stain its glorious legacy: bad story-writing, annoying platforming, targeting and control mechanics that really don't facilitate the hardest difficulty on the game. Game's a lot better if you skip all the cutscenes, assuming you know where you're supposed to go. Re:Chain is bad. I don't even want to talk about. The progression and scaling in the game is all badly paced, the card-based combat system is more annoying than anything, and the navigation... eh, it just all feels like a slog. The story's not too bad with Riku's story definitely stealing the show, but... this ain't it. KH2 is definitely the best game in the whole franchise. The story-telling is still plenty cliche at some parts, but at others, it's actually deeply moving and engaging, somber and emotional. Sure, the pacing of an extremely long prolong is a little weird, but it's totally okay because Roxas is probably the best character in the entire franchise. And the combat and music all got dialed up a couple notches. Stupendous game that not only continues the tradition of fun power-scaling and epic super-boss fights, but freakin' smashes it to pieces. 358/2 days is definitely the best-told story in the entire franchise, and one of the best-told JRPG stories of all time. Simple set up, small main cast with tons of chemistry (thank you, Axel), powerful villain, and the world-building lends itself so well to the story-telling, it's kind of shame it detracts from the stories of the other games in the franchise. Leads to some extremely emotional and powerful moments in the story. Never played the actual game though. Would have liked to. BBS is another great KH game. Story-telling again is a little cliche and weak except for a few parts that hit pretty well. Combat is a ton of fun, with the command form mechanic really stealing the show. The balance in the game is pretty bad, though. Aqua is just objectively the best character, some command forms just straight up nerf your character, and the grinding in the game is next-level slooooow, especially on the hardest difficulty, so don;t even think about maxing out your characters. With some good skill, you can 100% the game, including super-bosses, with a lv 40 Aqua on critical. Re-Coded is not a good story. If you're going to enter it into the game as a story only, I'm going to judge it as a story only, and it is 90% wasted. There are two useful things that happen in this story: (1) Sora (supposedly) learns and connects with the pain and heartache of the people connected to him--people like Roxas and Ventus. Except that the story brushes through this so quickly, it doesn't feel genuine, and besides that, this is just data-Sora--not even the real Sora. So it was another failed opportunity to fix one of the biggest problems with the story-telling in the franchise, and that is that Sora is just too dang happy-go-lucky. I'm not convinced he knows what real loss feels like, even though he definitely had a dark-ish moment at the midpoint of KH2. It's frustrating, because I don't feel like he's fully emotionally invested in the stakes of the franchise. Anyhow, I ramble. The other thing this game is supposed to do is (2) set up a possibility to save all the characters that are connected to him and that are counting on him to help them. It was alluded to in BBS, but this game spells it out quite clearly and shows that there is definitely going to be an effort to do that. That's actually kind of nice, but the issue is all this stuff happens in the finale of the game. The rest of the story is utterly wasted. All in all, though, I'm still very impressed and get a lot of fun out of the combat system of these games. Combat is definitely where this franchise shines. There's just a good flow to it: your character can close the distance and attack pretty easily in most instances, learning enemy attack patterns sets you up for powerful counters, strategizing your abilities can let you unleash massive damage, forms are just satisfying, and it all feels immensely rewarding when you get the mechanics down. Pity about the current state of the franchise, but most of the games in this bundle are definitely worth the play-through, especially KH2 and BBS. And with the bundle that often goes on sale, it's a staggeringly good value.

Kingdom Hearts 2 was the first game I got on PS2 back in 10th grade. Words cannot describe how much I love this game. The music, characters, combat and overall innocence of this game is truly remarkable. I'm a grown ass man and I never thought this game would make me cry again... after all these years.

I adore the kingdom hearts games but I absolutely cannot recommend buying this. There's always going to be a chance that you'll lose huge chunks of playtime because you simply tried to open the menu and the game crashed because of it. I know it says I have 6.6hrs on record but a large amount of that was straight up lost because of crashes.

Most of the negative Reviews tell about crashes. Have 55 hours now and not a single crash. Game runs good on pc and on steam deck. So I can only recommend to play it. Fantastic game collection.
