teeny bit slow to start but really fun. good alternative to animal crossing, haven't come across any bugs. only thing is it would be nice to have more strawberry crates or incentives as a single player.

Animal Crossing but with Hello Kitty and other sanrio Friends. Its cute. Its cozy. And it will make you Look into it every day for 1-3hrs for quite some time.
I personally would prefer Hello Kitty over Animal Crossing New Horizons since the gameplay feels a bit different overall. While Animal Crossing aims on you building and modifying your own island, Hello Kitty aims on repairing an already existing island (that FEELS bigger than the animal crossing idea of an island) that unfolds infront of you. Over weeks you have the chance to unlock new areas, friends, items and mechanics.
The wiki is your friend. Be prepared to Check fish or critter Locations, to hoard Iron and Wood. Preparing is half of the fun of the Game, plus the Game will Limit your daily progression; be it in hoarding or finishing tasks to make you come back. If this isnt to your Liking, better Check Out some YT Videos before purchasing. I would Not recommend going for the cosmetic dlc since i find it absolutely overpriced. It isnt mandatory and enjoying the maingame without it works fine. If you feel tempted to purchase the cosmetic dlc, keep in mind there are already options in the game to customize clothes and furniture. if you just want different colorshemes, you don't need the dlc.
Oh yeah, its best played with Controller, but playing with Keyboard+Mouse works too. Its a little more clunky tho. it's amazing on steamdeck. ♥
If you enjoy sanrio creations there's No reason Not to buy it.

Super fun, super cute. I was looking for something relaxing and I feel like this really was it! I love the Hello Kitty franchise so its nice to be in her world. I do agree with some of the criticisms that the non-sale price is pretty hefty. I also have mixed feelings about real-life timed quests and such, and I hope future updates pivot a bit away from things like that, especially considering a lot of players are going to be children who may not have access to their gaming time that frequently due to other activities and school and homework and such.

Yes, it's very cute. Kinda repetitive and sometimes I have no idea what I need to do. Theres no time penalty. It is addicting to just get cozy in at night or to just see cute stuff while feeling down.

Let me start by saying, this is a really cute game BUT it can be incredibly tedious and repetitive. Fetch quests dominate this game, which I usually don't mind at all, BUT for some items you have to wait a full day in real time before being able to proceed. Items that you need the most are few and far between, so some quests take days to complete unless you have a special item that replenishes items on the island. There are daily and weekly quests that don't really change a whole lot from day to day or week to week. Some quests cannot be completed unless you get someone else to play with you, that's just not cool. Especially at the price this game charges. Game progression is locked behind friendship levels with the characters, so you basically spend most of your time crafting gifts and handing them out. The characters level up pretty quickly at first, but then it starts to take longer and longer even when giving them the best gifts. Truth, it's cute, but definitely not worth the price they are charging. This is another game where I wish Steam had a middle option between thumbs up and thumbs down. If you can get it on a deep sale, go for it, but just know what you're getting yourself into before buying.

Hello Kitty Island Adventure picks up the best parts of Stardew Valley’s gentle progression and Animal Crossing’s cozy collecting, then wraps them in a stress‑free loop. The rhythm of play feels just right: exploration and growth unfold at a calm, steady pace, with plenty to do but no pressure to optimize. I also appreciate the soft gates — those little pauses you can overcome if you really want to, yet they naturally suggest a comfortable stopping point for a session. Cozy, charming, and kind to your time.

Very enjoyable, cute game for every age. Especially Sanrio lovers like me. Sometimes frustrating because you might be out of materials quite quick at the beginning, but theres always communities that can help. Flower breeding quite complicating but can be learnt easily. Overall, a relaxing, cute game to play daily.

It scratches a lot of itches that Animal Crossing: New Horizons just can't reach. Initial leveling friendships seems unnecessarily difficult without looking up an online guide, and I think some areas should be unlocked sooner in the game, but overall I will continue to play it and enjoy the time more than if I had spent that time watching the news cycle.-

I love this game, but right now I'm frustrated. Apple Arcade takes priority over any other platform, and events that should let us get past and current things do not. In the current friendship event, users on Steam, Switch and Playstation have furniture in boring colors like green, brown, etc. while Apple Arcade users get happier colors like pinks, purples, etc. Not only that, but we aren't allowed to dye them to the colors that AA has. And apparently people on AA are getting special My Melody and Kuromi furniture that isn't on any other platform. And we still don't have City Town. The coding and everything is already in the game, so I don't understand why it's taking them so long to give things to us. We all spent our money and we should get everything that we paid for. Or at least release the furniture sets and City Town as a paid dlc. Everyone got this free winter area, and log cabin furniture at the same time, and still no City Town for the other platforms. It makes me less happy to play the game knowing I can't experience everything or have everything unless I pay for AA. So, while the game is fun, cute, and relaxing, I don't recommend it in its current state.

I bought Hello Kitty Island Adventure thinking it’d be a fun game to play with my toddler: cute, easygoing, and ideally not a drag to play, like most toddler games out there.
That was a mistake. It was too fun. She got annoyed that I was too interested in the game than in her, so I started sneaking in sessions during nap time. 130 hours later…
This game is really enjoyable. I think most of it being so great boils down to game design, to it being carefully crafted, and even if very cute and obnoxiously wholesome at times (for better and for worse), it has many nuances that made me discover, little by little, that the game definitely is targeted towards older audiences.
Hello Kitty Island Adventure (HKYA for short) is a huge daily quest simulator. It has all the goods and bads that come with it. Everything is time-gated, from the number of gifts you give to your friends every day go the resources you collect.
And thus, fear of missing out will drive you. It rewards you for logging in every day but also at specific days, to the point where you feel you are missing out if you have to skip. Some content is trickled down, and depending on the day and on the (very short) story quests you have to do, you might need to play anything between 20 minutes to 2 hours at any given day.
Still, if you don't mind much the daily time-gated nature of the content, the game can be incredibly fun. It's also a puzzle on its own, to figure out how to maximize your days and how to unlock the main story elements in the shortest possible time.
Things I did not expect to find in Hello Kitty Island Adventure:
- An actually fun world to explore, akin to "A Short Hike" but much larger.
- A love triangle (Carl, you're bad!)
- Amazing soundtrack, like the Ennio Morricone inspired area.
- A red panda who aggressively sings (screams?) heavy metal to blow off steam.
- Edgy dialogue options for your character (they don't affect their responses, but still).
- Extremely easy puzzles altogether with an extremely complex "puzzle" in the game: figuring out how flower hybridization works.
- Lots of content and story quests for hundreds of days.
- Finding out how complex the Hello Kitty universe is.
At 130 hours played, it's one of very few games who haven't tired me out by this point. Quite on the contrary, it has me even more invested in it.
I got this for my kid. She lost interest. I now log in daily like it’s a second job, only cuter.
