Took me a minute to understand the game since I have no previous experience from Tarkov or any other PVEVP game... Im mainly a solo player and this gamer has been nothing but fun and straight forward. the task set you up in the game to progress slowly against weaker but still challenging AI to later places with even Stronger and more Geared AI. the replay ability in the game is great due to its open world function. Over great game so far would recommend!

Love the game, love what the devs are doing and the direction they're going, can't wait for 0.3.0... Let's be real, the game is unfinished, there's going to be bugs and imperfections but what these devs have pulled off while still being in a EARLY early access, even if it's been a year is truly remarkable, they are working on setting an entirely new bar of quality in detail. The weapons for the most part feel great, wish pistols handled a little better and didn't feel like shooting spitballs at your enemies. AI is tough, with almost god level detection and tracking at times, I just wish they couldn't see right through the brush. Might as more later...

The game is lots of fun, has a great set of bones and i am looking forward to seeing the game fully fleshed out. now that being said i hate wipes. as i play this game with a few friends and only little time here and there. i would prefer a Multiplayer mode that we currently have and a co-op mode for just a squad of friends or at the very least having separate characters for the pvp and pve game modes. wipe the multiplayer server but let us keep our progression on our co-op characters.

I’ll be honest, I had my doubts at first but man, Gray Zone Warfare really grew on me. The more I played, the more everything started to click. The realism, the tension, the tactical game play. it’s all super well done. Every mission feels intense, and the way teamwork actually matters makes it even better. It’s not just another shooter this one makes you slow down, think, and plan, and that’s what sets it apart. I’ve had some of the most fun and immersive gaming sessions in a long time. Also, super hyped for the Winds of War update. The new content and improvements look 🔥 and I’m glad the devs are actively building on an already solid foundation. Can’t wait to see where this game goes! Highly recommend if you're into tactical realism and games that reward patience and strategy.

At the time of this review I have about 70 hours of playtime in Gray Zone. So far, I absolutely love this game. The map is huge and offers a lot of variety in the locations that you can visit. Exploring and unlocking new LZs and finding new POIs is extremely satisfying. What I like about the game: -weapon selection and customization. There’s not a TON of weapons yet but the ones that are available are fun to use and offer a lot of customization. -map design. The map feels alive, you can walk from one side to the other and encounter hostile and friendly forces along the way. -realism. People like to compare extraction shooters to Tarkov and while this game is similar, it does it better in my opinion. You don’t break your leg from stepping off a curb but you still have to be mindful of injuries and hydration/food. The gun mechanics are also realistic. -overall fun. To put it simply, this game is fun. Very fun. Completing tasks and exploring the map doesn’t feel like a chore. Losing gear isn’t the end of the game either. -ability to play PVE only. I don’t have to worry about other players camping an extract or hiding in some corner if I don’t want to. You have the ability to play against other real people if you want, but it isn’t required. What I don’t like: -there isn’t really anything I dislike about the game. The only “complaint” I have is the difficulty of the AI at times. I saw an enemy through my scope, probably 200 yards away, and he turned and shot me in the head with an AK with no optic. One shot. Dead. I think the AI needs a little work to make it great. Overall, I believe this game is fantastic. With continuous support from the devs, it can be even better.
9.5/10 !
GRAY ZONE scratches all of my itches for a first person Shooter. This is the game that I always wanted the Ghost Recon series and any extraction shooter to be. I only play PvE mode, and mostly palyed with a friend of mine. The missions are fun and the enemy AI hit hard. Missions are fun and challenging. i did have to youtube alot of the missions, but honestly it added to the fun of the game. Most areas you go to have specific areas that you end up going back to over and over, but the enemies always are in different places and, trust me, your approach to each area of interest will never be the same twice. You aren't gonna approach this game like you are invincible, you will get CRUSHED by the AI. You need to be tactical and aware of your surroundings to be successful. Playing with a friend is the best experience, for sure. Although after several hours of playing the game and learning the best techniques that worked for me, i could go solo with about 75% success. LOL Took me a good 20 hours of gameplay to get a real good feel, and that was when i started getting better gear. the devs should let you buy silencers for every weapon from the beginning of the game, because that was a game changer for sure. Community is very cool and helpful on PvE.... Cant say the same for PvPvE mode------LZ campers day and night. Probably played 120 hours to finish all the missions. I would imagine most people do it in alot less time, especially if you play with 3 other friends. We played the game very methodically and went through the missions together, Some of the missions we could do at the same time, others have time restrictions (like complete between 12:00am and 6:00am) and others only have retrievable items that spawn once per game session. So we would have to do the same mission twice, which was fine by me. Here's my only real complaints: After the missions are all completed through the vendors, there's really not a reason to keep playing. After the final mission, I tried approaching different areas to loot items and take them back to base to sell, but i ended up losing more money buying ammo and equipment to get the equipment than i would make bringing them,, back to sell. So that ended up being a net loss to play that way. The devs have added earning credibility with the vendors to level up the gear they sell, but i had no desire to level up the other vendors that didn't sell equipment that i used. RE-playabity just wasn't there for me. I can play Gray Zone in 4K native with almost all settings maxed out. I get 110+ FPS average, with a few drops here and there. I was getting some crashes ((because the i7-14700 doesn't play well with unreal engine 5)) until i found a tutorial about AS ROCK motherboard bios changes that i made. These changes have helped with all of my UE 5 games. Trust me , it's WELL worth searching videos for BIOS settings for your motherboard for UE5 fixes if you have debugging errors and crashes and/or directx crashes. I didn't update my BIOS to latest , I only tweaked a few settings..........a couple settings at a time. Can't wait to get another map or a whole new set of missions on Lamang. It's a BIIIIIIIIG map with lots of unused areas that could have potential for new towns or enemy bases. overall 9.5/10 for me-----a shooter fanatic 4080 super 17- 14700kf 32GB ram ASRock Z790C WD blue sn580 ssd

Review as of 04/06/25 Almost 1 year after GZW launched into early access and unfortunately I cannot recommend the game for a few important reasons. Reason 1: Game still experiences frequent crashes and instability even on servers that are well below the player cap. The game usually crashes about every 30-45 minutes with de-sync causing battles vs the AI to be like fighting a terminator. Reason 2: The AI in the starter towns are using tier 1 ammo and severly damaged weapons but they STILL 1 shot the player to the chest even when equipped with tier 3 armor. The AI also still track the player through walls and fences with pin-point accuracy. These two issues have been persistent since the games launch into early access and have still not been addressed a year later. Reason 3: With the new updates to the game we now have durability for weapons and armor as well as attachments. This is nothing new in these types of games but the issue is the durability loss on the armor. The AI in the starting areas use tier 1 (soft point) ammo but 2 shots to a helmet or 3-4 shots to tier 3 armor will completely destroy them. Once destroyed you can not repair anything, armor or weapons/attachments. This makes even early game battles very costly and removes the benefit of doing the early game quests. The game has potential but, as per usual, it seems like the game devs focus is on pushing out more and more content rather than ironing out the problems with the content they already have. Gamers do not want to invest hours into a game when they could be 1 shot in their best gear by a low level AI using basic tier ammo and armor or crash 30 minutes into a mission. I have invested almost 90 hours into the game so far and recently returned to check out the state of the game before the 1 year anniversary of launch only to find it in worse condition than it was at the beginning.
