Played this right after Shadow of Chernobyl, skipped Clear Sky. This is definitely better than SoC. Story is a bit more interesting but the biggest improvement is the overall gameplay. Still a bit buggy and janky but I guess it's to be expected from this series (even the enhanced editions, I guess). If you enjoyed the previous Stalker games, then you'll most likely enjoy this one as well.

For this I'll link my opinion of Shadow of Chornobyl, my feelings about the enhanced version are the same:

For the game itself I'll link what I said in the original release (page store is hidden nowadays):

A game that truly stands the test of time. Couldn't ask for anything more from GSC.

This enhanced edition is fine for those who just want to experience the vanilla game, but have it work on modern systems for the most part. Call of Pripyat includes the quality of life changes from Clear Sky, as well adding the ability to sleep to skip time which is helpful if you want to skip playing at night. The main story, and even the side stuff, is unique and the way the player completes them does effect how the story turns out, increasing replay-ability. The 3 zones included in the game are interesting, fairly massive compared to the previous games, and fun to explore. All and all, CoP is my personal favorite out of Shadows of Chernobyl and Clear Sky, and definitely worth checking out.

Game is empty and boring. I don't remember the original being this way. I think they removed half the enemies. Play Radiophobia 3 or LFO. I would say play STALKER 2 but with update 1.5.2 it is empty and boring too now.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat was what the first 2 games should have been. This was a vast improvement in all aspects, from gameplay to storyline to open-endedness.
The gameplay is smooth and intuitive. Gone are the weird bugs found in the first two and the controls are more precise.
The story is cool too - you play an outsider coming into the Zone to complete a mission for the military. So in a way you are "starting over" and learning about the Zone as you go, which helps fill in some of the gaps. The dialogue is stilted and silly at times still, but the open world aspect is much more meaningful in this installment. The various outcomes of your missions and who survives/dies affects the ending, and you are given the choice to not end abruptly to tie up loose ends right at the endgame.
In short, the best of the Stalker games within the trilogy of number 1. Highly recommended if you like the Stalker series, and recommended anyways if you enjoy FPS games with some open world flavoring.

welp... 16 hours played, and i loved playing the game... however, this "enhanced edition" is not enhanced at all... the game still is very buggy and even worse, cutting out content from the soviet era because Ukraine is in a decolonization period is also a bad idea, because yes, it is tragic, and it is bad, but removing content from what makes S.T.A.L.K.E.R what it is is not the way to go, it's a soviet era time capsule zone... so... the game is still buggy, the graphics are not that much better and that's it, I love this game, but I should've just played the regular one.

Similarly to Shadow of Chernobyl, this Enchanced version of the game barely differs from the original one. Since there's no option of acquiring the classic game anymore, I'd recommed buying this one as the game itself really deserves it. Of all old three S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games Call of Pripyat is the one I'd most likely replay as the gameplay features impress me more - sadly it's quite short.
All three classical games were rated positively here on Steam, because the trilogy is really spectacular. But, with the release of Enchanced editions, the basic games were removed and now the trilogy has mixed reviews - fully deserved. If I were to rate these new releases and the original games were still available, I'd give a negative review and advice to buy the original ones. But, they're now gone and if you want to play old S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games, Enchanced editions are your only option from now on. That is why I give them a thumb up - because I don't rate them in comparison to the old games.
