dogshit port with worse music and the most retarded name change to ever to an already established character that had a name for a decade, kill albert kao and kinoko nasu, just download the fanmade patch from way back in the day that adds the relata nua content to the base PC edition

Books-level boring ;)
Main real complaints are the art is dated, there's very little VO, the text displays almost 1 line at a time and won't auto-play, so you have to click after almost every sentence to advance it, and most of what I got through had a lot of repetitious navel-gazing commentary.
Books are entirely passive in that you have no control of the story, you're just along for the ride, and it's entirely text based, which means nearly all visualization is from your own imagination. VNs are books with less need for imaginative visualization because they provide far more visuals. They're still mostly passive, but you do have some that are a bit active in that they're like choose-your-own-adventure books where the reader has at least a few opportunities to steer the story a bit. Video games are far more active than books or VNs. They can still be on-rails to an extent, like Mass Effect or Fallout. It's not an entire free-for-all, but the player has a lot more agency. So, I think video games are not the right vehicle for a VN like this. I expect more visual action in this medium, and more audio. So, they could have animated more of it, and VOed more of it, and automated the text so you didn't have to click so damn much. I honestly can't say how malleable the story is because I stopped reading before I saw many choices.
Basically, I'm disappointed this wasn't more interactive and made such little use of the medium's opportunities for visual and auditory story telling.

Fate/Stay Night Stays Garbage. Not a single improvement in this garbage ass port and it doesn't even have the Hentai. WTF? Shirou is a mygonist dumb ass and Saber isn't even a badass like people claim her to be. My GOAT Shinji should've won the Holy Grail btw. I hoped this game would be even half as good as Fate/Zero, but it doesn't even come close to Urobochi's masterpiece. Fraudsu's lazy ass can't even finish Tsukhime Red Garden and his only good work Witch of the Night, so why should I buy this? Here's a tip play a good VN like Doki Doki Litereature Club or Dream Daddy. 0/10 Shit's ass.

Fate/stay night REMASTERED delivers a refreshed and accessible version of one of the most influential visual novels ever made. Originally released in 2004 and later updated as Realta Nua, this new edition brings the story to modern audiences with high-definition visuals, improved user interface features, and an official English translation. Every character sprite, CG, and background has been upgraded to a clean 16:9 aspect ratio, preserving the detail and atmosphere of the original while making the presentation feel contemporary. The visual enhancements breathe new life into iconic scenes, especially during emotionally intense or action-packed moments.
The core narrative remains unchanged and just as compelling. The game is divided into three distinct routes—Fate, Unlimited Blade Works, and Heaven’s Feel—each presenting unique developments, themes, and character arcs. The Holy Grail War serves as the backdrop for a philosophical exploration of ideals, morality, and sacrifice, with each route peeling back new layers of the story. Together, the three arcs form a complete and multifaceted narrative experience that spans over 60 hours. It’s a game that rewards patience and attention to detail, offering not only gripping drama and romance but also a deep dive into its richly constructed world.
The remaster also introduces a number of quality-of-life improvements that help streamline progression. A branching path flowchart allows players to track their choices and easily revisit key decisions to explore alternate routes or endings. A built-in glossary and character database provide much-needed context for the game’s dense lore, especially useful for those new to the Fate franchise. The infamous Tiger Dojo—short comedy skits that appear after bad endings—return with their signature charm, offering both humor and hints to help players find the correct paths. These features make the experience smoother and more inviting than previous iterations.
Despite the impressive updates, the remaster is not without technical shortcomings. At launch, many players encountered issues with sprite layering, out-of-sync voice acting, and buggy transitions—particularly when running the game on systems using English regional settings. While most of these issues were resolved in early patches, they left a negative first impression for some. Additionally, the interface, while functional, can feel sluggish. Gamepad support disables certain keyboard shortcuts, and the lack of options to disable visual effects during combat may be problematic for players sensitive to flashing lights.
The new English localization has generally been praised for its clarity and tone, offering a polished reading experience that feels faithful to the original Japanese. However, there is some division among fans regarding the soundtrack. The version included in the remaster is based on the Realta Nua release, and while it complements the story well, others feel it lacks the emotional resonance of the original 2004 OST. Thankfully, modding options are available for those who wish to restore the classic music or make other custom tweaks to the experience.
Fate/stay night REMASTERED succeeds in modernizing a beloved title while preserving the qualities that made it legendary. The improvements to visuals and accessibility make this the best version yet for newcomers, while the faithful story and added polish provide plenty of reasons for longtime fans to return. It’s an experience that stands at the intersection of romance, action, and philosophical depth, cementing its place not just in visual novel history but in the broader landscape of narrative-driven games. For anyone interested in where the massive Fate franchise began, this remaster is the definitive starting point.

This was my first exposure to the Fate series. I decided to try this game just for fun but now after completing it, I think this is one of the best VN I've read so far given the fact that I'm not the biggest fan of VNs.
Most of the main characters are quite fleshed out, great story for all three routes, great soundtrack and most of all, my favorite part which is the Tiger Dojo. Also it's really long for a visual novel which is a first for me (~100 hrs to 100% the game)
Great game, 10/10.

As someone who first played the original Fate/stay night from 2004, I can truly say that the visual novel made a huge impression on me. It was probably the first visual novel that I played that hit this hard. I quickly fell in love with its detailed story, interesting characters, and the deep background of its world. My love for this universe grew even more after watching the anime versions.
So, when I found Fate/stay night Remastered on Steam, I didn't think twice. I bought it right away, feeling a strong sense of nostalgia and hoping to experience that first magic again. Now that I've finished the remastered version and earned all the achievements, I can honestly say: no regrets at all.
For long-time fans like me, Fate/stay night Remastered is a wonderful trip down memory lane, a chance to see a beloved classic with a fresh look. For new players, it's the best way to experience the original story of the Fate universe - I'm not going to lie, I'm a little bit jealous of you for being able to play this game for the first time.
I highly recommend it to anyone who loves the original or wants to start an unforgettable visual novel adventure. After finishing this replay, I now intend to rewatch the anime. ^-^

*SPOILERS*
“So, everything is over?”
“…Yeah. This is it. There’s nothing left.”
“I see. Then our contract is at an end. I became your sword, defeated your enemies, and protected you.
…I am glad to have fulfilled this promise.”
“…Yeah. You did well, Saber.”
Nothing more needs to be said.
Saber is far away, and I do not run to her.
The morning sun rises.
The halted wind begins again.
A gold that seems to last forever.
In it…
“In the end, there is one thing I must tell you.”
She says in a voice filled with determination.
“…What is it?”
I reply like always with my best bluff.
Saber’s body wavers.
She is facing me.
She looks straight at me and in a voice without regret…
“Shirou I love you.”
Says those words.
Wind blows.
I close my blinded eyes and open them again.
I don’t think there’s any surprise.
I kind of saw this coming.
That…
…Our parting would be like this.
An open field fills my eyes.
As the wind blew, the knight disappeared.
Just as she appeared.
Leaving no trace.
“Yeah it really is just like you.”
There are no regrets in my voice.
I squint at the rising sun, keeping everything I lost close to my heart.
I stare at the horizon, wishing never to forget, and for it to never fade away.
