DWO is quite bloated. While it is fun to get back to smashing thousands of faces, facing off against the menacing lu bu, and there is some diversity in weapon/skill types to keep you trying things that you like, in the end, it has too many side characters who have side quests and reputation farming. It may be the english translation, but it sounds like each one is trying to date you or convince you into a relationship that sounds more intimate than simply platonic there are also six separate endings and blitzing through this type of game isnt the best way to play the game so farming for further endings seems like a stretch also its a crime you cannot play as lu bu

Graphics are good. Story is okay. Copy and paste enemies are bad. No character customization is bad. Can only play as 1 boring character is bad. Replayability is bad (you're basically doing the same thing over an over again to unlock a couple new boring cut scenes). As a person who has played 90% of all DW games, I'm disappointed, this game starts strong and ends very weak. C'mon Omega force, why don't you expand on Destiny mode from back in the day? That has huge potential. Maybe wait to buy this when it gets down to $20 or lower, then you might get your money's worth.

The dialogue itself was just horrendous beginning to end like someone's first draft of their first attempt ever at video game dialogue. As the main character, you are literally completely silent, yet they offer dialogue options for your character ... but every single choice is just variation of the same meaning thing you are saying like why even bother with any of it. The game play starts with having okay amounts of mechanics but then never introduces anything more, you get more weapons that have different mechanics sometimes but really it was the horrendous story that made it unbearable. And just the other sub aspects of the game outside of the battles themselves are just thrown together nonsense. It's like they tried to put stuff into the game besides the battles and failed miserably. It's like ... a 10 dollar game The fact that people say this is like better than the other dynasty warriors sequels is really really really scary

Continual game crashes after battles but before it saves wasting all that progress in the battle. I didn't buy the game to replay the same battles over and over hoping the game won't crash. I've tried all the tips and tricks but the game still crashes. I should have listened to the other reviews before I wasted my money. 8~ hours into the game so too far gone for a refund. I miss the days of physical disks and accountability for companies. First and last game from this company that I'll buy on PC.

For context, my primary experience with the DW franchise was Dynasty Warriors 4 (and XL) on the PS2; I also played the one or two of the Samurai Warriors games. I had not played the franchise for many years and wanted to see the latest, and noticed this game had decent reviews. Twenty years passed and if this is the best the developers have to offer, their dynasty is over. Having to play a single silent/boring protagonist rather than a full roster of characters is a massive step down, and it is made worse with very limited weapon availability; there were about nine or so, with the majority of them feeling very similar (i.e., like long, wide swinging, pike-like weapons, even in the case of the sword). Combat is general fine (with a few new features like orders you can give to your guards), but due to the lack of weapon variety, it felt particularly repetitive (even for a DW game). Also, the story is mid and does not make any real attempt to follow/teach history, unlike the games I had played in the past, which often had the option to learn more about the context of the various battles you fight in and people you fight with/against. Small point, but it shows the lack of effort that went into the development of the game. Overall, I believe this is a very disappointing addition to the franchise.

Though I love the Dynasty Warriors franchise and this game is no exception, it's currently unplayable as freezing occurs so often that's impossible to finish the yellow turban rebellion mission. I've tried many of the potential graphic adjustments as seen in the discussion blogs to no avail. Hopefully one day a patch comes out that solves this issue, but during the meantime, I cannot recommend this as a good purchase.

TLDR: Such a good Dynasty Warriors game it makes it hard for me to go back and play any older ones. Pros: -Reinvention of the game; Rebuilding the game from the ground up made the quality better. Each weapon is fun and unique to use. The system for combatting officers is simple but easy to understand. Gameplay flow feels great to the point I am not sure if I can play older DW games because they lack this level of polish. -Game looks great. Characters look good, and the amount of units on screen at once is sometimes to an absurd amount. And on top of all of that I can not remember having many glitches if any. The amount of units on screen does not slow my rig down to a level I would expect. -In general, it does the power fantasy really well. You get to be a one man army and the gameplay factors convey that really well. Cons: -Not a clear con, but they went for quality over quantity here. Not as many characters and weapons as past DW games, and the time period is only the early years of the three kingdoms. I personally feel that trade off is worth it because the quality of what is there is great but be aware of that if you want a giant roster. I'd personally prefer 10 weapons that feel fun and unique over 40 slop weapons. -The story and acting/writing is butt as always. Its not why we are here to play this, but sitting through almost any dialogue scene is a drag. Characters are as flat as can be, and besides a few small exemptions most characters performances are dull, and TBF the actors don't have much to work with. And if you don't know 3K history/lore you might be lost. I think the decision to make the player character a stand in was a bit unnecessary. When the dialogue stinks and my dialogue decisions don't mean anything why would I invest anything into this character? And they have you name your character to be referred to as in cutscenes and then the NPCs just have an alternate name they all call you like 2 hours into the game, it seems pointless. -Little side battles you have to do can get repetitive, but at some point you can avoid them. To me, the pros vastly out weigh the cons, strong 8/10

So having just finished the Wu campaign after 70 hours on Hero difficulty, both routes, I can say that this is a good game and a welcome back to the franchise. It does a very good job of having a somewhat open world while still keeping the linear world. I welcome it with open arms, and enjoyed my time immensely as I will surely enjoy the other routes. With that said, I'm only going to be discussing my dislikes here because if it isn't on this list, it can be said I had no issue with it. 1) Outfits. We start with a single outfit, you get one halfway through your first mission and you get a bonus one from the dev's. That's it. I'd love to see an officers uniform for each faction be given to you if you either choose their faction for ch4 or complete their campaign. It would add that extra piece of love you can carry with you. 2) Companions. If you're going to let us use companions in the game from multiple factions, when we're doing NG+ let us just choose to use them from the battle screen rather than force us to start the battle via the story tab in the lodgings. Make it max bond rank if you really want to gatekeep, but come on now. 3) For me the worst part of this game was... the MC's story. I'm here for the three kingdoms, not him. I can stomach the story once as something fresh but I despise that I have to do it again for each faction. Just give me the option to skip finding out about my past after the first playthrough if I want. Also, the fact we could name ourselves was a joke. The game is designed for us to play as "Ziluan", why even give us an option if it's practically unused. 4) I wish the game made morale possible to influence in battles. A vast majority of the time morale is something that fluctuates by the game deciding it. In the rare cases where your actions are able to directly influence it, it's usually a case where your actions to do so are unneeded because your team is already winning. This wouldn't matter if the morale didn't directly dictate if your friendly NPC's were strong or weak. But it does in a significant way. In situations where your morale is low you will usually lose the officer before he can even call for aid when playing at anything higher than the lowest difficulty. 5) The low cast of characters is somewhat disappointing. I understand that this had to be made into something after it got cut off halfway from being DW10, but I still feel the need to voice that I want to be able to play as the other officers. Not just switch between them and me in battle and especially not with such a limited crew to chose from as a companion to begin with.

Is it a translation issue or is every single character in the game flirting with me either way I'm not complaining
