This game couldn't have come at a better time. I turned 30yo this year, and its been many years since an "mmo" could really keep my attention. I do enjoy playing most games solo other than things like raids. I also had to put down my the last of my 3 childhood dogs. With a mod, I was able to add in custom usernames, giving 3 simpcs my pups names and now I get to party with them and continue our adventures for a little bit longer in my heart. The game definitely needs a bit more polish in its animations. The graphics arent anything special, but they have their charm, and for a game meant to simulate an older grindy mmo-rpg. It suits it well. I'll be playing this for a long good time I hope. So I truly hope to see "expansions" and new quests added in. There is a road map for 2025 so we know that we will get a true large scale raid by the end of the year or start of 2026 :D. I give the game an easy 9/10 for its charm and success in achieving what its wanted to. And it suits my needs and niche in gaming. I would likely rate it slightly lower. Maybe a 7.5 because it can still feel slightly clunky and many features are accessed through current mods. When many of them should have already been native to the game. That said, its in early access. . Give it a shot!!

Worse part of this game is running out of content. If you enjoy MMO's but dont have time to be social get this game. Updates are frequent and meaningful and couldnt ask for better. Looking forward to more endgame content and raids

This was a pleasant find that reminded me of my time playing WOW back in 2015/2016. Right now it does feel a bit bare bones, but knowing it's in early access we might get a more rounded experience with the 1.0 release. I saw one bug where i was trying to destroy an item from my inventory and it didn't let me or i didn't know how to do that exactly. The combat is fine, but i felt i didn't do any damage to some monsters without being in a party. Also i couldn't see where the level of the other players was so i presumed they either had better equipment or higher level since they were melting ghosts and skeletons. Really looking forward to the 1.0 release, but right now i'm not going to invest more time in it and just wait.

Just got this game. 10 Hours in after one night. It really hits the old school feel and the best part is there is no fomo or competition, so it's really fun to have a very similar experience in a single player world. The combat at first was very forgiving , but after I left the beginning island, the experience began to level off, and I actually had to heal, etc. No spell batching, its animation based which I don't hate, but it did take me a second to get used to (I don't love or hate it, and it's a welcomed feel from me for a different feel). As far the AI and the world feel, it's really good! I log in and have Sims i played with message me and say "whats up" or something along those lines or ask if I want to xp in an area, or whatever. I love the implementation of this. It's very natural feeling. I would say if you like EQ era games, this game really hits the spot and is extremely enjoyable. I am curious to see the growth throughout EA.

Note: I have not completed all the content, but after 25 hours I think I can fairly judge it to an extent. Other note: Played on steam deck, max settings. Default controller setup is not fully there, but is a great jump off point and only needs minor modification. TLDR Erenshor doesn't feel like it's trying to monopolize my time, and doesn't feel like a cynical "product" meant to maximize profit. It feels like a genuine passion project born from a real desire to share something meaningful to them with the world. For those with little MMO experience, it takes time to understand, but patience rewards with a unique and fun experience worth your time. - The closest I've ever played to an MMO is Destiny, and I'm pretty sure Destiny is to MMOs what Jabberjaw is to sharks, so I genuinely had no idea what to expect with Erenshor. It took me time to really figure out what I was doing. It's not often I feel like I'm playing something "new," so it took me a couple weeks of playing a few minutes here and there to get my bearings straight, as diving in head first was overwhelming. However, once everything started to click, about 2-3 hours of real gameplay spread over a few weeks, it's now my current main game and I'm enjoying it immensely. Combat is interesting. It can be relatively hands off, but mastery does require attention to be paid, and overall does feel worth the effort to learn. It doesn’t feel like you’re doing much input, but I’ve found myself really getting into the flow of it. I don’t know how to describe how combat works, but you can’t get to the reviews without passing gameplay videos, so you know what’s up, or you scrolled too fast. Simplayers, the NPCs that bring the game to life, are a delight, and my favorite part of the game. Watch them chat, bicker, demand help, be silly, etc. It’s really fun. They are also generally competent at teamplay. You can control their roles, but so far I haven’t had much issue having them be a cohesive unit without role adjustments. I hope the simplayer system continues to develop. They're a big part of what makes the game tick, as they fill in the MM part of the game. While it's clear the developer wants to bring in an audience unfamiliar with MMORPG gameplay, it feels like maybe there is a gap in terms of how to make it accessible to new players and get over that initial hump without alienating those with ample experience. Think of it like you’ve never purchased a car, and you ask the salesperson about the features the car has, and the salesperson says “oh don’t worry, it has all the features you would expect” but you have no frame of reference as to what that means, as you’ve never owned a car. I don’t know how to fix this in-game without bombarding the player with a billion intrusive tutorials, but ironically, I believe a solution exists within the larger Erenshor community. When things didn’t make sense and I couldn’t figure it out, I turned to the Erenshor discord for help, and in my experience, they are friendly, helpful, and mostly excited to see more people exploring the genre. There is so little hand holding in the game, the remaining context suggests to me that was probably the case back then, and the larger community was probably an essential pillar to the survival of any particular MMORPG, so it makes some sense that would be the case here too. I also feel that because the game is SP, it takes a lot of tension out of the community and has so far kept it a pretty healthy environment, as you don’t rely on other people in game, nor are there in-game constraints like time-based events you can miss and be locked out of forever to consider, so you’re never having to fight the time, only the challenge at hand. It’s a very interesting thing to see and experience. In all, Erenshor is a great game, and I am excited to see the continued growth. It feels pretty full for an early access game, and I am in no way disappointed with my experience thus far. I hope to see larger cities and towns (I haven’t gotten far past Port Azure so that may already exist), even more simplayers with increased interactions (I can’t emphasize how enjoyable it is to see a gaggle of simplayers beating up a skeleton), large raids (I hear some MMOs had up to 30 players for raids) and maybe a clever way to better integrate the larger community. Whatever comes next, I'm along for the ride.

formed a party, went to a dungeon, and got the loot. 1 guy from the party was mad that I looted the boss. 10/10 mmo experience.

Lightning in a bottle. Erenshor is still rough around the edges but it has been improving almost every single day since early access began on 4/14/2025. I'm really looking forward to seeing what comes next. It definitely reminds me of the first days of playing Everquest in 1999. It's nostalgic but can be a little daunting to people who aren't familiar with the earlier MMOs. Where do I go? Who do I need to talk to? I can understand that, but like those early games, part of the fun was discovering something on your own, researching online (wiki), or asking around (Discord). Yes, Erenshor is filled with SimPlayers but it feels like my own game. I can go anywhere or do anything I want on my own schedule. I don't have to log in at specific times to join raids or deal with the drama of guilds or toxic raid leaders. I can play when, where, and how I want. I've enjoyed exploring the zones, learning strategies, farming for items, gearing up my party with "best in slot" gear, leveling up, and gaining ascension points. I've even started gearing up other groups of SimPlayers with gear for future raids. The developer (Brian) and the community are very responsive and helpful.

I am now officially beefing with a sim player. Keep talking shit, Sparkles, no one wants to group with your dusty ass. Feels like home.

"I shall try this game for 5mins see if it's as good as it seems"... 45hours later...... "Why have I not slept in 2 days?!". Seriously, this game has amazing potential, it's a true throwback to the days of Everquest and Ultima Online, only without actually needing to wait around for 4hours in East Commons begging for a tank to join you in Lguk for that corpse run.... It's still early access and it isnt a finished nor fully pollished product, but even as it is now it's more than playable, its downright addictive, it's brutal, it's unforgiving, its amusing, and the AI isnt above whispering you to tell you "You suck at tanking". Honestly, if you are looking to scratch that old EQ itch, or just wanting to play a decent game, this comes highly recommended.

First of all, thank you. That feeling — the one you had with your first MMO, where the world felt impossibly big, and every ding of XP meant something? I thought that was gone. Lost to time. But somehow, Erenshor brought it back. And not in a shallow way. In a way that matters. This game doesn’t just imitate the golden era of MMOs (1999 to 2004). It resurrects it. You log in, and the world feels alive. Other players (or eerily convincing AI) run by on their own missions, shouting WTS/WTB, camping mobs, grinding quests, or just chilling in town. It's so convincing, you find yourself checking if they’re real. It’s that immersive. And your party. That’s where it hits deep. You can build a team from the party builder. See who’s LFG. You can keep them with you. You can watch them grow alongside you, level by level, dungeon by dungeon. They’re not just tools; they become your people. I’ve had to bench someone and felt bad about it. It hits those pseudo-social ties in the same way old guilds used to. It’s wild. Progression is slow, as it should be. You’ll actually use your level 2 spells before you hit level 3. You’re not getting steamrolled by upgrades. Instead, you learn your flow. You earn your abilities. I’m 45 hours in, and I just hit level 20. Twenty hard-fought, satisfying levels. Every piece of gear was hard-won, every skill earned through trial and error. And yes, the gear shows up on your character, looking rad and letting people see your story. I’ve had whispers from characters just to say they liked my loadout. That kind of thing sticks with you. And let’s talk about camping. The joy of finding a good grind spot, setting up shop, and having one of your party go out to pull mobs while the others rest and recover. It’s perfect. The rhythm of classic MMO group play is alive and well here. No other modern game dares to recreate it, but Erenshor does and nails it. Quests? No GPS. No glowing breadcrumbs. You read the dialogue, follow clues, think things through. It’s a game that respects your brain and your time without ever feeling hand-holdy or opaque. The world? Massive. And you better believe there’s no map unless you choose to enable it. You learn by being there. You explore, adapt, memorize landmarks, and eventually just know your way around like you used to know West Karana or Greater Faydark. And there’s minimal fast travel. You just died and respawned in Port Azure? Tough break, son. Run your happy ass back across the continent. It’s brutal, but it’s fair. It makes the world feel real. This isn’t just a nostalgic throwback. It’s a full-on, handcrafted, loving recreation of what made MMOs magical in the first place, with none of the modern nonsense. It doesn’t chase trends. It doesn’t apologize for being deep, patient, and slow. It dares to be what the genre forgot: immersive, demanding, rewarding. Erenshor is, without question, one of the most special games I’ve played in years. If you were there back in the day, if you remember what it felt like to fall in love with an MMO, this will hit you like a freight train of serotonin and tears. Don’t miss this one. Seriously.
