For some reason this game runs like absolute shit on my steam deck. The game constantly lags on it, but works fine on windows. Also, I can tell this is a rough port because of how low res the opening is. I highly suggest you get this game on sale, but don't get it if you can only play it on the deck

Dungeons, especially the late-game ones, feel like a massive slog. Salvation Tower (oh horror) alone takes what feels like an eternity, and you’re looking at floor after floor of monotonous, white, maze-like corridors. If you don’t like repetitive dungeon crawling, prepare to hit a wall (I sure did). 52x52 tiles of backtracking per floor.
Backtracking is strong with this one, and you’ll be spending a lot of time retracing your steps, just to unlock new parts of the dungeon that are more of the same.
They had some interesting new ideas, but it felt like I was playing against the system, not with it. Damn boxes and keys! By the end of the game (last 15h), I was playing on easy - not because I couldn't handle the dificulty - I just wanted to get to the story faster. The encounter rate is like every 15-20 tiles at most.
The game isn’t as good as "Nightmares" and "MS 2", but… if you played the previous games, you can’t just abandon your favorite Blood Maiden(s), can you?
After finishing all 3 games with the true endings, was it worth it? Yes.
Yet to touch that "locked in love" thing, but I’m sure I’ll enjoy it since there are no dungeons or fights, as far as I know. And I need to take a long break from dungeons and fights. Characters went through suffering, so am I. Sore, but happy.
Give this trilogy a try, if you haven't yet. You won’t go wrong with the first 2 games. Just grab "Mary Skelter 2" it includes the remastered first part (Mary Skelter Nightmares). And if you don’t feel like going after part 3, you’ll still be satisfied with the hopeful ending. Just make sure to play the second game first - it’s a prequel. Trust me, second game first. Second first.
