the game looks fine and has many qualities. it's a 6 for me, but i want to regulate the positive reviews, and i cannot give it a thumbs up because the controls are not the best, also the plane design is a bit too "round" so it's often hard to actually see where you are pointing at. also the UX is very unintuitive. of course, the designers wanted to keep the oldschool interface, but - we are not oldschool players anymore.

Good arcade game! The menus are janky but the gameplay is fluid once you get used to how each engine handles. However, SFMT mode suffers from the same issues as Nuclear Throne hard mode - it's a massive step up from classic and the difficulty often feels unfair. The SFMT 'kill an ace at max combo' and 'get 25k' missions are very reliant on enemy spawns and can be frustrating. It's a shame that the game locks a final piece of content behind these missions, but if you ignore them and enjoy the standard gameplay it's a fun game to pick up on sale!
