I enjoyed this. Some 21st century point-and-click games play more like visual novels, with token "puzzles" that give no challenge; in The Legend of Skye, though, the puzzles all need some thought and deduction, usually across several layers, and a few of them had me stuck for a long time. This is a good thing. I'd say puzzle design is the game's main strength, because it has that niggling quality that kept bringing me back for another try. Completion took me about 14 hours without looking at the walkthrough. As others have noted, the English translation can be spotty, and this becomes apparent as early as the opening scene. It never defies comprehension, but I feel it causes problems for the intended humour, as the success of a joke will often depend on a precise use of language. On a related note: although The Legend of Skye borrows its visual style from Monkey Island, the humour sometimes veers into territory that's considerably more adult. There are jokes about DMT, shrooms, and shady dealers that would never have been permitted in the family-audience Lucasarts adventures of the 90s. These jokes are pretty funny, but if you're looking for a nostalgic trip down memory lane, back to the clean and wholesome cartoon worlds of Lucasarts, then you may feel that the unsavoury drug jokes detract from the authenticity of the experience.
