Brings more pleasure than one expects from it!
Early Access sucks. I usually don't trust developers who haven't completed a game to 99% completion before they start selling it.
However, this time I stepped back from my preference and took a chance by watching the walkthrough on youtube.
But, I did like some of the mechanics vopletized here!
I admit, the game gets boring after 2 hours, so.... just keep that in mind.

I recommend this fun indie.
The game already looks quite decent in early access.
Everything is playable, without bugs, I like it.

I'm enjoying the game so far. The gameplay mechanics are intriguing, and exploring the game world is enjoyable. It has some issues, but the developers are responsive on Discord. A great start, looking forwards to future improvements.

The game reminds me a bit of the original Alien movie - capturing a compelling descent into mystery.
Landing on a planet and unravelling what is happening.
It's a genuinely enjoyable experience with a fantastic feel.
Looking forward to more.

Here's my first 2hrs playing game review
I'm not an FPS player but Relic Odyssey didn't make me feel dizzy or nausea. That's a big plus for people who don't often play FPS games.
Game's plot is easy to understand and to play, game's pace is just right for me, not too fast or too slow to me feel asleep. Graphic is decent.
HUD is simple, just display enough information for player, to me this is another plus point.
No bugs in playing this game so far, but in terms of game experience it's not very good:
- Lack of proper tutorial
- The support language (Vietnamese) isn't good.
Overall, I'm still enjoying playing this game despite the lacking I just wrote above.

Enjoying it so far! Lots of interesting game design concepts but not too different. Unique visual style for the environments and enemies. Small nitpick I wish the sound effect for the starter pistol had a bit more oomph to it but I assume that would be an easy tweak. Engineering-wise, the game has seemed quite solid so far. Looking forward to seeing the progress!

Fascinating!
However, it's a niche game. More precisely, I mean that it will not appeal to everyone. More specifically...Hm.... I think I'm confusing myself.
I like it:
+ the way the weapons look and the way they shoot :)
+ the way the locations look
+ some puzzles and item finding
+ enemy animations
But for example my friend Relic Odyssey : Ruins Of Xantao didn't like it at all and was surprised why I talk about the game with a smile.
I don't know, maybe after the developers implement the planned content in the game...maybe I will make him look differently at Relic Odyssey : Ruins Of Xantao ? maybe, maybe, maybe

As a casual gamer who doesn't play FPS games, Relic Odyssey has given me an enjoyable little introduction and experience so far. It offers a mix of exploration, crafting and fighting.
You start off with a small handheld gun, but once you have the glove, it's an absolute essential and made my overall gameplay all the more fun. The glove has multiple purposes not limited to combat. It has saved me in a few fights after I didn't pay careful attention to my ammo and ran out mid-battle haha. The glove is really useful in collecting resources and minerals and you can also pull and push objects around.
I also enjoyed the exploration of the unique environments and gathering of resources with the digging rig. With the digging rig, you can come across mini lab dungeons. Within the labs, you can loot chests and battle cool robot enemies of all sorts that differ from the alien-type monsters. Each time you defeat the mini boss at the end, it'll reward you with lab reports and items which you can use to obtain blueprints to craft better equipment and weapons.
Another highlight for me is Clunky—one of your companions who assists in battle and follows you around as you explore. You can also send Clunky off to gather resources for you which I thought was cool. Hopefully we get to interact with Clunky more as I enjoy its humour and dialogue.
Looking forward to the future updates and enhancements! :)

Fun shooter with cool enemy designs, and some interesting mechanics. I think the hand-glove thing is what sets it apart from other shooters for me. It's fun pushing around enemies with the hand blast when I want to conserve ammo. And sucking up materials with the glove is really satisfying.
Make sure to craft the hand-glove thing as soon as you get the option, cause I almost missed it when I played (and also makes gathering materials way better).
Also, the colour choices on the environments and enemies are really nice.
Excited to see the next updates!

I can't recommend the game in it's current state. While I understand it's still in early access, there are a bunch of issues I'd like to see addressed.
Performance issues:
- Booting up the game takes forever on a fresh boot. You'll get the logo, and then the game just hangs for a few minutes. Probably less of an issue if using SSDs for storage
- ~~Opening up the graphic settings has a hitch every single time~~
- Generally poor performance. Running on a RTX 4090 + I9-10900KF, on max settings I go from anywhere between 60-90fps, on the lowest settings, I run at 90-120fps at 1080p. While, the game doesn't look like it'd be something that'd max out my system, at the same time however, I've seen games that are visually equally as good looking or better, that runs better for how much resources it uses on my system.
Visual Issues:
- When I first opened the game, my first thought was that it was hard to distinguish enemies and interactable things from the environment. For enemies, they seem to be very similarly saturated, for example like the very first enemy is some kind of small crab? Both it's shell and it's exo-skeleton are so similar to the environment that you wouldn't think they were there in the first place, and this re-occurs for many enemies for the given environment they spawn in. For interactables, things that can be mined or important facilities like the digging machine, storage box etc, are all highlighted, whether by using lights, or some UI you could see visually, but a lot of others things I question, can I interact with it? I can't tell except by walking up. If those exceptions didn't have those highlights, I would be asking each and everyone of them the same question. Though I did later find you could use the scanner
- Another thing hard to distinguish are dead enemies, the only way I could tell is if they didn't move for awhile now, but most enemies look the same, dead or alive
UX issues:
- Adjusting graphics settings with a mouse requires you to press the tiny square box in order to get the drop down menu. There's logic to know that you're hovering some graphics setting, so why can't I just click that instead?
- There's a lot of missing prompts. For example, the first time they want you to use the scanner in order to talk to the spirit to repair the digging machine, the lack of prompt to tell you how to activate the scanner is very bothersome. I don't think many people would open up the controls page just to find this out and it ruins the immersion of the game. Other missing prompts are for using the digging machine. You get a prompt in order to dig, but how about going up and down, and exiting the digging machine? I almost thought I got stuck underground using it the first time.
- I some times see a floating white triangles? I haven't seen it in awhile, but I think it's supposed to be a follow guide to the next objective considering the first time I did notice it was trying to get me to talk to the spirit the first time to repair the digging machine. Maybe it is there, still where I'm at, but I haven't noticed it. If those triangles are supposed to be a guide, I think it's doing a poor job at it as they're hard to spot and at first for me, made me question what were they anyways? a visual bug?
Despite all the above issues, I haven't found any glitches that would affect gameplay or game breaking bugs yet, and visually the game looks nice. Reminds me of early 2000s games if it had higher quality textures available.
