The game is interesting but its got some bugs and hang ups at least playing sitting down. Items not coming out of inventory or the wrong item. Selecting items sometimes can be a real challenge. There is a boss battle that is next to impossible and it really has me to the point of dumping the game. Having a tough opponent is one thing but this is more than that. Other than that the game is fun. the story is interesting although half the time i have no idea what i should be doing. Combat is fun and I like the addition of the axe much like another vr game. There are several parts of the game where you stop and take in the scenary. A couple of the boss battles are a real pain but finally finished the game and I think its worth a play through. I do want to say though at several points in the game i was left trying to figure out how to proceed which got annoying...

truly an excellent VR game. Loads of interractable items, fast paced game loops and addictive gameplay. The story is great and the voice acting that presents it is equally fantastic. The only negative I can think of is that some of the music sounds SO MUCH like Skyrim that it will bother you in places. But other than that, there's very little to complain about here. I think where the game shines the most is in the enemy AI, which is hard to predict and extremely mobile, so basically, they nailed the combat, environments, story, mechanics, designs, mobility and game loop. They just get a 5/10 for the music, but they get a 20/10 for the many different ways you can grab items. I will definitely be getting the next thing that comes out of this dev team. So much polish,

Buy it so the studio can make more. Not a sandbox or tech demo but a full fledged video game. Real impressive stuff on a gameplay and technical level. The environment is good looking, game runs smooth, and theres plenty to explore despite the overwhelming linearity. Gameplay consists of traversing levels, flipping switches to reach other areas, and fighting enemies along the way. Theres only a handful of enemies but they're crafted with attention to difficulty and detail. Enemies aren't pushovers in that they'll all attack you at once and with frequency making combat a tense dance of managing sightlines while holding off enemies in melee range. Enemies have easily recognizable silhouettes to make decision making easy. If there was anything to compare it to it would be Infinity Blade. Enemies telegraph attacks, you swipe in the direction of their blade, and they open up for attacks. This is while encroaching enemies fire upon you. It works very well most of the time and is always challenging up until the end. The game balances it's lethal enemies and small player healthpool by giving the player access to a large supply of fully healing medkits. They're cheap and you can carry hundreds at a time which pretty much breaks the game's balance so long as you keep jabbing yourself. A good thing too as the game's later enemies aren't so well designed. The story is optional. You can care if you want. I didn't. There are lots of boxes and pots to break with stuff inside. This is one of the best mechanics in the game. Bugbears: This game features a climbing axe mechanic which is very cool and dynamic. Only when it works. In order to bring out the climbing tools you have to flick your controllers upwards and they'll slide into your hand. The problem comes with the sensitivity of these. By default they are way too difficult to bring out, by upping the sensitivity of even slightly they are way too easy to bring out by accident. When you have them out you can't grab things. Which is a problem because you are constantly grabbing stuff in game. It should've just been a button. The motion controls for this mechanic fight against your every gesture if you have the sensitivity turned up and without you'll look like an idiot flailing his arms about. It really should've just been a button. In the second half of the game two enemy types are introduced, large hulking enemies with miniguns or maces, and green reskins of previous fodder enemies. The thing that these enemies share is the ability to push the player. If you knock a green enemy over and run to slap them with your sword they'll do an AOE as they get up, forcing you to fly in the air for a second until you gain control again. Or you'll block a shotgun enemy's attack, pushing you back, and again forcing you to wait until you gain control. Same thing for the large enemies. You'll get close to push past their enormous weapon's collision box and get constantly pushed back. It's like the game is afraid of the player killing the enemies too quickly, which is hogwash because these enemies can kill you in less than a second. This even persists in the final boss which is constantly pushing you around with flashy AOEs for no reason. Imagine fighting Gwyndolyn but the floor is a treadmill constantly setting you back. The game would only benefit without this mechanic. Another bugbear are the resource kiosks in the game. There are two flavors, money and healthkit kiosks. The former you take enemy bodyparts you collect and put them in a grinder for dosh. You can't walk away or else the machine shuts down so if you've been hoarding you'll have to sit there as this slow machine churns away. It really should've just been an instant sort of thing. The healthkit machine is even worse. It wants you to take fruit you collect from the environment and burn off it's individual pieces to create a single healthkit. The whole thing takes 6 seconds for one fruit. Multiply by the many respawning fruits you'll have collected. The thing turns into a chore that doesn't need to exist. I say it doesn't need to exist because the machine will also convert three fruits into a single healthkit instantly. The designers know this is a chore, programmed a way around the chore, but made it yield less resources. It's as if they're chiding the player for not having the patience to sit down and peel fruit for a minute. Very silly I hope the guy in charge of it peels open a black and gooey banana. The final boss isn't a guy with a sword. No spoilers, but it's not a sword guy. It's an incredible piece of art and programming but it's not a guy with a sword. You don't even get to do any cool parrying until the final phase. Not fighting a final boss with a sword in a swordfighting game is lame. I want to be tested on the abilities I gained throughout the game with a tough swordmaster bossfight. Imagine going through sekiro and the final boss is the guardian ape again.

An absolute VR must play. The level design is extremely inspired, and there's a depth of environmental detail you just dont find in other games (with the only notable exception being half life alyx).

Above and beyond the best VR game I've ever played. The overall game play mechanics are pretty solid, the story is simple, but interesting and it's longer than any other VR game I've played so far.
