This game is like Stardew valley meets fable with a hint of Skyrim, Farming and adventure full of quests Mystic creatures and the art style is really cool.

Like other reviews have stated, the combat mechanics are subpar. However, it’s pretty easy to kite enemies and wear them down with a bow before hack & slash.
Artwork is beautiful and the game has a retro feel to it. Nothing is super time sensitive. I could be an outlier, but I really enjoy Mirthwood. I have a pretty busy life, and it is a perfect game to squeeze in 20-30 minutes at a time.

this game was awesome! like witcher meets stardew. Played pretty well on steam deck as well, which made it far more cozy and fun. Im not normally one for games like stardew but this one has enough fun combat, crafting and exploring to make it an easy purchase!

wonderful game! if you spend time exploring and enjoying the atmosphere, you'll find things aren't too hard to get going :) the tutorial quest (don't skip it!) helps you find shops and tools, and wandering the game helps with the rest! (if you're looking for gardening tools, head south from your house and help the blacksmith) can't wait to spend so many nights not sleeping and playing this instead

Feels unpolished and like it prioritized scope over gameplay.

I was expecting I won't like the game as it's not really my type but it's soo enjoyable! Really love the style, the mechanics, the amount of ways to play the game - it's real, you can pick who you wanna be. Am a bit struggling with the controller because it's not working at it's best yet but overall experience is pleasant. And it's fantastic that a two-person team made it and, moreover, it's actively developping and polishing the game.
Hint: if you didn't like something in the game, wait and give it a try later: maybe your problem's fixed :)

Combat is just awful. Even trying to face your opponent is unintuitive, and given there are NPC encounters from the start that will kill you in a few hits, being able to control your character is important. Not going to play this again until it's fixed.
General opinion
The Game is a bit rough around the edges, very atmospheric, seasons are beautifull, gemplay mechanics a bit clunky and can anoy at times, but will recomend, the game has what you would call "love put into it", still jar needs more filling to be complete ^^
Game Performance and Economy/Progression

Performance
Mirthwood can run on lower frames quite often, the "Home plot" after 3 seasons can be tanky after you build up your plot. Beside that exploration does not suffer from performance issues beside occasional stutter while autosaving.
Economy/Progression
Economy, game is quite rough on the aspect of hunger managment at the start, you need ton of food to keep going, its not that hard after you start hunting and harvesting your crops but beggining is quite rough, mid game when you want to expand your plots invest into farming animals start as a hard punch in the guts, farm animals are expensive, same as buildings requierd if you want to make it fancy. Overall seems a bit overpriced for what you get, but it does look nice
What i would like to see changed/implemented
Game has good crafting system that can seek materials in chests nearby, (by nearby i mean like 5-6 feet distance) Would be nice if system worked on a bigger scale for example chaining storage "connections" so that you could make more aesthetically pleasing crafting areas. Good idea would also be showing either lines connecting crafting stations when placing storage or showing area of influence while placing the chests potentialy highlithing crafting stations that will feed from the storage.
One thing that bothered me is toiling the soil, what i did not like it is that the whole process is finnicky, example after season change your plants that have miltiple harvests (peas/grapes/corn) do die in diffrent intervals, what happens is that dead bush stays if you do not cut it in time the toiled soil underneath disapears forcing you to either cut dead bush when it apears (for example 3 plots died in 12 plot field) and quickly plant another thing so that you wont need to toil the soil again, if you let it stay to long you may find yourself in place that i was, somehow you wont be able to toil it again in the same spot forcing you to change plot configuration again, i do endjoy snug fit and cosy clutered aesthetic so yea xD had to fight it alot because of it :)
Last thing: the fishing quest at the coastline, for the last part "catch a lobster" i thing wise idea would be to change the quest test to "catch a lobster using a wooden basket" since mechanic was changed :) i fished out like 12 pearls after i found out you cannot catch it with a fishing pole xD

I paid full price for it, so I got the right to dislike it
Reasons
1) Poor combat... Like really poor... Here is your sword... Here is your bow... That's all, enjoy the game... Yeah...
2) Weird communication with NPC... Just push every possible option, and then repeat right ones... And repeat...
3) Painful start of your household... Run around, gather materials, but remember, you (and we got to reason №4)
4) Limited inventory... You can carry few types of something... Like 8 resources... 8 food... And e.t.c... And if you crafting new food from the food in your inventory, it wouldn't work... You need to drop something first to free the spots, and just then crat
Great graphics, great music, great concept... But whoever planed the game process just f***ed it up... Game gives more pain, than pleasure

The game is still very much in active development and being worked on by a tiny independent team; which can mean that there are changes and new bugs from time to time and it's not a fully polished gaming experience. However, somehow it just scratches a certain itch for me.
I love the art style and the narrator is top notch. Mirthwood's voice actress, Vicki-jo Eva, was even nominated recently for the One Voice Award for best performance in gaming for UK females and I think it's well earned. She's great, I could listen to her read the phone book.
The world is a little bit gloomy and the stories are on the darker side, but I can still make my little farm and fix up my ruined farmhouse. I can still potter around the large open map and gather resources and find creepy foes, creepy places and even some creepy allies.
It won't be everyone's cup of tea, but if you really want a game that's darker than Stardew Valley, less cursed than Graveyard Keeper, and lets you spend as long as you like on a fairly low commitment adventure, then it may be yours.
If you want a fully polished game, then maybe add it to your wishlist and watch it for a while longer, but for where it's at, there's still plenty to do and enjoy.
