In early access there was a bug related to the fact that the female character had a male voice. The developer promised to fix it, but in the release version nothing has changed :)

It’s a good game so far. The only aspect I’m really struggling with is only being able to carry a certain amount of a type of item at a time. It really slows down setting up the homestead such as when starting to farm and not being able to hold too many food items. It also limits the rewards of exploration. When going to the meadery, I couldn’t find any more materials and therefore couldn’t loot any of the bars found there.

Amazing and cozy little medieval fantasy farming game. My wife and I play and both enjoy it.

The game may have promise and its so far away from that in its current state. The game is minimal and not well developed at all. Not ready even for early release IMO. There is just too much functionality that was never put in making all things tedious... game plays like its still in the "concept" stage.

Game needs better optimization... it chugs on a fairly beefy pc in certain spots... Playing on Steam Deck is utterly horrible needs better optimization on both. Instead of releasing co-op etc they should fix the main game.

I genuinely love the game. It's essentially medieval stardew valley with a few fantasy elements. However the grind for resources early game can be excruciatingly slow. At the time of this review I have around 8 and a half hours in game, and I haven't touched it in a few months although I do plan on coming back eventually. After around 6 hours in game I began experiencing crashes EVERY TIME I died, and occasionally when browsing through my inventory, I also occasionally had minor frame drops and skipping. The game itself is a solid 8/10, however with the bugs and frequent crashing I began to experience relatively early into the game I'm not sure I can wholeheartedly recommend the game in its current state.

After nearly 60 hours in Mirthwood, I’ve been thoroughly drawn into its moody, atmospheric world. The dark themes woven through the story and setting give the game a unique tone that sets it apart from other life-sim RPGs. There’s a constant sense of mystery and quiet tension that makes even the peaceful moments feel meaningful. Whether I’m exploring shadowy forests, managing my homestead, or uncovering the lore, I’m always finding something new to enjoy. I’m especially excited for the upcoming All Hallows’ Eve update, it's a perfect fit for the game’s eerie vibe. Can’t wait to see where the developer takes Mirthwood next!

WARNING! This game is not for everyone but to the people who appreciate clunky combat and potentially dying at the beginning of game multiple times due to not wanting to read how to get better swords and such, yeah its actually a wonderful game (in my opinion) I appreciate the difficult combat and the roundabout ways you can obtain money and better weapons, but even if you don't want to go down a rabbit hole, it can be very rewarding when you purchase your first chicken in the game, or maybe even goat after hard work and grinding for it, its not so much of a cozy game as you have to eat to survive and constantly grind for more resources, there's always something to do in this game, be it farming, chopping, mining, or doing quests. 9/10 would recommend.

This game should still be in early access. I really wanted to like this game because of it's unique Chaucer aesthetics but the combat is too clunky, the crafting is rudimentary, and homesteading doesn't add anything new to the genre. If this game was in early access I'd say wait for a few years before looking at this game again. But as it is at full release, it's just not there. I'd refund this game if I could.

This game is truly so beautiful, and so deeply unplayable. Please, devs, listen to the reviews and improve it.
