"What a grand and intoxicating innocence. How could you be so naive? There is no escape." A quote that perfectly reflects the ignorance that struck me the day I first launched Morrowind.
I fumbled through the game in half-hour sessions, only returning to it months later. Then, one fine morning, I opened my eyes and told myself, "It's high time I give this dusty old game one last chance."
The depth of this game is unparalleled, the story is magnificent, the world is rich, and every character has its own charm. I think what makes me hold this game so close to my heart is just how much it captivates me every day.
I suffer from concentration disorders, a daily struggle that robs me of the ability to truly appreciate things; yet Morrowind manages to help me overcome that. My eyes stay glued to the screen, I read and absorb every word, and before I know it, I'm poring over every book placed on the shelves.
Morrowind deserves all the love in the world, and more. It is one of the games I hold dearest to my heart, and I will never be able to thank Bethesda enough for giving us this gift.

Morrowind is probably my favorite game in the Elder Scrolls series. It doesn't have the streamlined gameplay of Skyrim, and the graphics are dated, but the game gives you so much freedom to do whatever you want. You can say screw the main quest and just go out and do anything. You can make insanely powerful spells that break the game, enchant weapons to an extreme level. The devs just decided to give you this sandbox to play in and let you break the game and its fun as hell.

I say, without nostalgic bias, this might be the greatest game of all time. It's not pick-up and play, but it's incredibly immersive. Many say it's dated and I couldn't disagree more, it's just different.

An Amazing game!
Those who claim the combat is bad, just don't have their fatigue, skills and attributes high enough to roll a success.
A truthfully alien world, with customs magics and politics of their own. A story of betrayal, friendship and tribulations spanning millennia coming to its climax.
A must play for true RPG fans.

Last year I finished the main game and the Tribunal DLC. Now that I have completed Bloodmoon and Almost Discovered the entire map and finished a lot of quests. I gotta say Morrowind is the ultimate, peak high fantasy experience, yes the combat is Shi and it is the worst thing even for 2002 game the dice roll combat is horrible and literally ruined my first hours but if you get used to it and upgraded your skills after the progress it will become easy and your hits will land each time, once Morrowind kicks in your gonna be completely hooked with the alien-ish environment that no other (fantasy) world have and the main quest line that actually make you feel as a hero, Cites, Ashlander camps, the mind blowing lore, the music, the NPCs, factions quests, dungeons, humor, the insane spells that can break the game, levitation, the beauty of old graphics. Although morrowind isn't fully voiced the voice acting is amazing specially jeff baker. I don't know what to say more than there's no game that have the magic that Morrowind got an ABSOLUTE MASTERPIECE.
note:
I BELIEVE IN HOUSE TELVANNI SUPREMACY
I BELIEVE IN THIEF'S GUILD SUPREMACY
I BELIEVE IN MORAG TONG SUPREMACY

it really is just not for me. I understand why many rpg fans would find morrowind appealing, but the gameplay is too dated for my liking. the rng based combat, tedious quest tracking, monotonous soundtrack, and the empty, gloomy map turn me off heavily.

Might be a little odd to play at first if you are not used to the combat mechanics and you will get lost if you don't have any idea of what you are doing, it has its little flaws here and there, but its also a quite charming game with a with a unique fantasy look to it!

You start off with the best rendition of the Elder Scrolls theme song and know that life will be okay.
This is the best Elder Scrolls game in terms of story, immersion, and lore. It's weird and experimental, but still very consistent. If you have only played Skyrim, you should play Oblivion before Morrowind just to warm yourself up. Morrowind was a revolutionary game, but is truly old-school in many ways. Where Oblivion and Skyrim are the same kind of game, Morrowind is something else.
In many ways, it's something better. If you love it, it's for the world, which is so much richer and deeper than any comparable game.
Many reviews note this, but a couple of tips if you plan to play: 1. Understand how the systems work. This is not you whack, you hit. You have a chance to hit, determined by your skill with a weapon type and your agility. Many people bounce off for not understanding this mechanic. 2. Build your character right or get a movement-speed boost mod. I could only get into this game by doubling the player's movement speed, otherwise you will trudge around at a snails pace for about 30 hours. 3. Decide how vanilla you want the experience to be. You can get graphics overhauls that update things a lot but stay true to the original form. You can get render distance increases. All of these things can be nice, but the original game was designed with what it had. There are trade offs and bonuses both ways.

Don't let my meager 60 hours fool you: between the Windows and original Xbox versions, I've clocked in around 3,000 hours over the last 20+ years easily in Morrowind. This game blew the minds of gamers and developers back in the day, and even with it's jank combat remains one of the most impressive stories and experiences in RPG history.
The world building, environments and themes surrounding politics, humanitarian conflicts, religion and corruption are covered very well with strong narrative - and the sweet velvet strings, thundering drums and resounding brass of Jeremy Soule makes the game 9,000 times more immersive. I still get goosebumps when I sit on the title screen with 'Nerevar Rising' playing, getting transported straight back to summer 2002 holding my duke controller sitting in my room completely oblivious to the adventure I was about to experience for literal years to come.
This was one of the games that expressed to me: video games are an art form.
If you don't like reading dialogue such as those in classic CRPG's, you're not gonna have a good time with this - there's a LOT of it..but I can't recommend this game enough for both new and old players exploring RPG classics. It's got a lot of dust, rust and blemishes around the edges in a vanilla experience compared to today's standards - but character? Oh, she's got heaps of it, Outlander. Check out nexus mods for a plethora of easy to install QoL mods!

Everyone said that the early game hours would be painful and dull. I disagree. If you are having trouble I would recommend a character with high agility. It's easier to hit the enemies that way. If you get lucky, you can kill a dark brotherhood assassin and get his OP loot. World building is really cool so far and I'm having a blast playing. I hope it doesn't change!
