Firstly, the things that grab you are the route length and the location. The length at 155 miles is amazing, the location has very intense railroading going on with big trains and big obstacles to overcome. The game offers 13 scenarios, it's true enough but four of them are tutorials, which you might play once and then forget about. The nine career scenarios are by no means bad, they're not, it's just that they fail to show the route off, other than to run trains over bits of its huge length. I know this area well from back when you'd even get CP passenger trains down the route and the one thing always threw a spanner in the works was the weather. Stalled trains, reduced speed limits, re-routing and all kinds of stuff used to happen because of the weather and it still is the same, but don't expect any of that kind of drama in these scenarios, oh no, these are the kind of scenarios created by your least favourite geography teacher, they are as flat as pee on a plate. There is no excitement, none, they are competent and can be finished. You will have grades to surmount and timetables to keep, some difficult others not so much so, but there's no drama at all. An end to end run would have been nice even split in to chunks, but nope you don't get that. Other than the whinges about the scenarios, the route itself is reasonably done if a bit lightweight detail wise. I took a Western Zephyr down the length of it, it was satisfying. Get it on sale and it can be fun.

There is so much in unfinished scenery in this package. There are long portions of the route that have "floating" track beds. The locomotive sounds are flat and repetitive. It's all just haphazard and poorly pulled together. Shame, because the scenery is great. Disappointed.

Great route, sure wish they'd at least changed the locomotive sounds, and the annoying thing about this locomotive that comes with the route is that, the bell activates automatically when you blow th the horn..( bound to give me some headaches. LOL) And another thing is that there is only one locomotive that comes with the route, I would have at least expected a dash 8 and 9 and plus an SD80 and 70MAC, but other than that. Awesome route and nice scenery and great locomotives, what sort of bugs me is that they didn't add in a cab light so please do fix the issue with the Cab light and horn.,and the speed limit is so damn low along most of it's length,..I could fall asleep while driving my train(LOL) it's literally that slow! Anyway, love the route, it has very high detail and I hope DTG keeps up the good work. If you TS fans are looking for some challenging train routes, the Canadian Mountain Passes is for you. It's a very good challenge going from Eldon(Alberta) to Revelstoke and back through the Canadian wilderness. It's a fun challenge overrall. .Overall 9/10

Honestly it's been a really long time since I played this route, but I have played on it extensively as I made my own line of scenarios that crossed the length of it. Overall I can say it's very well done. Of the several routes that Milepost Simulations has done for TS (That I have played), this is one of the better ones. Despite showing a bit of age, it's still enjoyable to travel along. All scenarios work; all achievements work. My only complaint is that the locomotive's brakes are tough to deal with. Are they realistic? Perhaps... I wouldn't know. They're hard though, at least for me. Still, this ranks as one of my all time favorite routes and I'd highly recommend it.

Very pleased with this route. + The scenery is beautiful, with modest compromises, very few mistakes. Occasional stuttering, but steady 60fps. It looks much nicer on my PC than on the brochure photos above. + Versatile and clever. Several mountain climbs where you have to pay attention, but some long, fast flat sections. + All scenarios could be completed with realistic driving. + Physics issues I had with previous iterations of some cars (loaded coal in particular) seem to be resolved. N The telescoping is real, but it's not too annoying and it helps with a few things. Forgiveable. N You can SPAD a few metres at low speed - helps the initial experience when misjudging brakes a little. Might even be prototypical (the signal can be placed earlier than the actual end of the block). - The ES44AC sound in multiple operation gets bad. It's a game core problem. (Use various locos in QD.) Many train types were home here, including F7, GP40, F40, P42DC pulling various bilevels, classic cars like on Donner, or the Zephyr. CP subdivisions often use SD40s and newer GPs. This allows many, very happy hours. There is a core game issue (since forever) that causes different physics from 2nd scenario onwards (including a restart). This can affect your experience greatly as generally trains are heavier or dragging. Just restart the game and it's good. (There is one other review mentioning the engines being too weak.)

Very lush scenery with good mountainous terrain and perfect scenery. The route has many opportunities to take in the sights. The newer CP liveries for the ES44AC locomotives are a nice feature as well as the adjustable dynamic braking. Since Canada is the worlds 3rd largest potash exporter, the potash car was a nice addition to the standard cars. Overall I think DTG and Milepost Simulations did a good job on this route. I give this route 5*****

There are a total of 9 scenarios in this DLC. At the time of writing this review, I completed 4 scenarios with a perfect score of 1,000. To all die hard fans of Train Simulators out there, scenario CP Train 200 Part 2 is very difficult to complete with a perfect score. You must always keep close to the speed limit to have any chance of completing this scenario with a perfect score. In conclusion, I would heartily recommend fans to purchase this scenario due to its difficulty. It is indeed a challenge but well worth the effort. As for bugs, I have not come across any so far for this DLC. A great value for money.

Canadian Mountain Passes is a visually stunning route, with spectacular scenery and accurate recreations of the local terrain (at least, based on my memories of the area). The rolling stock is also nicely done. The negatives, unfortunately, come from the rolling stock physics, which are completely broken. The ES44AC included with the route has a different braking system to most Train Simulator versions of this locomotive, and it's so sensitive that the slightest application can cause wagons in your train to come flying off the rails exactly as wagons don't. If it really is as realistic as the devs claim, it's frankly a miracle that freight makes its way over the Canadian Rockies at all.

I must say that this is one of the best routes done by Dovetail Games and Milepost Simulations. The scenery is well done, quite dense, and includes some nice custom assets. This route is also the longest route available for Train Simulator at the moment, being 155 miles long. Also, the braking physics are quite challenging, just like in real life. Being a third party developer, I understand that a route like this is quite a challenge to make. And also being Canadian, it is nice to see my home country in Train Simulator. 10/10

This route is definitely another true masterpiece by DTG. It was released in February and I got for my birthday in April. I love it alot. This is the first route other than USA, UK and Germany. DTG is now going global with this being in Canada and they also developed a South African route via partner program. This route includes on ES44AC in Canadian Pacific livery and tons of rolling stock including the all new potash hopper and grain hopper. The route runs 155 miles from Revelstoke BC to Eldon, Alberta. En-route are challenging inclines, Mt. MacDonald and Connaught Tunnels, Large staging yard at Golden on the CP Windermere Sub, Field, BC which is a crew change point and dividing point for the Mountain and Laggan Subdivisions. After Field comes the Spiral Tunnels where long freight trains can loop over themselves. Later you have some downhill running on the approach to Lake Louise where the track is then single all the way to Eldon where a small yard is located. This route also features some amazing scenery. Sometimes you might see a static bear standing around in the woods. A new realistic brake system is featured on the ES44AC. This is the first DLC to have it. I strongly recommend this route!
