Maybe my favorite survivors-style game out here. The gameplay, graphics, effect, monsters, etc. are all perfect. Such an addicting gameplay loop.

This game w/ the Diablo 2 OST in the background is so perfect. Lots of fun, really invokes that early diablo vibe, even if the gameplay is wildly different.

Halls of Torment is an incredibly addictive, dark dungeon roguelike that will keep you hooked for hours due to the nature of the replayability. The gameplay is incredibly satisfying, with a perfect balance of challenge and progression. The pixel art style is beautiful, with detailed environments and enemies that give the game quite the eerie vibe. The soundtrack also compliments the mood perfectly.

The more I played this game the more I began to dislike it. It starts off strong, but eventually fizzles into an incremental gains game. Feels like this game needs 50 more abilities to suit each class archetype for starters. Seeing the same 15 abilities over and over and over while you're grinding away agony levels isn't what I'm looking for in survivor-likes.

As a fan of both Diablo and Vampire Survivors, this game scratches both itches in a most unique way.

Halls of Torment is one of these Auto-Battler-Rogue-Like-Bullet-Hell type games that followed in the wake of the success of Vampire Survivors, and it is by far one of the best of its genre. There are a lot of different Characters, each with their own attack style and challenges connected to them, a lot of different stats to play around with, lots of different items, skill trees and everything your heart desires to improve and progress over time to cause the most amount of havoc. Each of the different maps has its own little secret and buff for you to discover and they play unique enough to make it enjoyable to explore each of them. The “map package” is rounded up with an extra map called the Vault, that acts like an endless mode for advanced characters. The game is addictive and satisfying to play and you always urge for this one more round. I can only recommend Halls of Torment to everyone who enjoys the genre, and also to people who look to experience it for their first time.
