TL;DR Grab a friend to tackle the campaign and enjoy one of the most fun games of all time! . Although there is lots of action and barely any horror, it is still very very fun and has tons of replayability. You have many different weapons, some are secret and only unlock under certain conditions! You can upgrade them to make them stronger for harder difficulties. Theres tons of treasures and collectibles hidden for you to find. Theres even multiple costumes to unlock for both playable characters! Aside from the campaign you got mercenaries and versus modes as well which are a blast. . I played through this game on 360, PS3, PS4, and now PC. Maybe i am a fanboy but still, that's a lot of memories with multiple different friends on multiple different platforms all from one amazing game! So yeah I definitely reccomend grabbing this and making those memories for yourself :)

Resident Evil 5 is a game that has to be experienced on co-op (even though it’s possible to play solo). It was obviously developed with co-op play in mind first and foremost, the game has many co-op features and remains one of the best choices for those who are looking for a co-op experience. At first glance RE5 might look like a generic zombie-themed third-person shooter but don’t be fooled by such an impression. Gameplay of RE5 stands out and feels different mostly because it heavily relies on inventory management. It’s always satisfying to finish the mission with spare ammo remaining in your inventory. Ammunition in the game is scarce and this forces the player to use the gun only when it’s absolutely necessary. What often happens is that you use the weapon only to stun enemies and then you finish them off with melee attacks which have unique animations and vary across different characters you can control. In-game currency allows you to buy new weapons and equipment but for more ammo you’ll often need to go back to the campaign. Farming resources by going back to previous missions adds replay value to Resident Evil 5 next to various collectibles you can find or higher ranks you can achieve. There’s also modifiers, character outfits and other kinds of content to unlock as you continue to play. This further expands the scope of a game which otherwise has a pretty linear and straightforward campaign. When it comes to the campaign, RE5 is set in Africa during the late 2000s. A new zombie virus breaks out and the main characters Chris Redfield together with his partner Sheva Alomar go after the bioterrorists responsible for the incident. The story is over the top, doesn’t take itself too seriously, introduces entertaining larger than life characters and that’s the fun part of it all. Resident Evil 5 Gold Edition also includes a couple of DLC stories which, for example, will give you a chance to play as series old-timer Jill Valentine. Aside from the campaign and DLCs, you can also try out different variations of the Mercenaries mode (basically horde mode) which introduce a larger roster of characters. Among them are villains and protagonists of other games from the series, all of whom have their unique fighting styles and voice lines. There’s also a Versus mode where these characters can fight each other online from what I understand but I can’t say anything meaningful about that mode because I was never able to find a match while playing on Steam. Back to Mercenaries mode - it is especially great because it gives you something to enjoy if your co-op partner is not available. It simply requires you to survive waves of enemies for a couple of minutes and in this way it creates the possibility to briefly hop in and enjoy the game after a long break and without making it some sort of a huge commitment. While playing you can unlock new maps, characters, and go after a higher score. As mentioned before, it is really commendable that a fairly straightforward and linear shooting game offers a fairly large amount of content and ways to experience it.

Good game but broken boss fights. It's not possible if you don't have RPG with extra 10 bullets.

Game was utterly amazing. At first i wanted to refuse playing it, since it this annoying yellow filter over it from it being an old game, but after installing reshaders to remove it, the game was extremely beautiful, combined with the fact i played with a friend made the experience even better. It was clunky at first but we got used to it and finished it together. There were a few bugs where a few locations kicked me out of the server we were playing on completely, and reloading took a while since sometimes both of us had to restart our games. But in the end it was worth it. It was an amazing game that id maybe replay in the near future.

Underrated. I still think 4 is my fave but 5 is very cool. I was worried about the AI coop stuff but it works. The only gripes I have is that you fight the same 3-4 enemies over and over again and the lickers in this one are pretty weak. Also it feels impossible to run out of ammo and the knife feels weak. Still a solid entry in the RE series.

Pretty much a must play co-op as opposed to solo. Horrible A.I. partner. That said, I played though this with my buddy in Europe online. We definitely had some hiccups but ended up finding minor fixes and got to get playing. I really enjoy this game with friends, but playing solo just isn't too great.

Enjoyed this installment of Resident Evil game more than I initially expected. I was playing it in co-op with a friend, so that added way more to enjoyment than playing with AI partner. Had bunch of exciting and funny moments that single player would hardly replicate, so I would recommend tackling this one with a friend if possible. My criticisms would be that the game did not have that many puzzles as Resident Evil 4 had, which was a bit of a let down. Although, the game has very Tomb Raider-ish area with a simple puzzle. It oddly stands out from the rest of the game, but enjoyed it nevertheless. The game also has this ugly yellow/brown tint filter that a lot of games during late 2000s had, which for me personally does not look appealing at all. Simple resahde mod can fix it.
