To the Moon Series Beach Episode
The story to the game is good as always is what you expect in a too the some series. The ost is nice to listen to I expect no less from this developer. However the mini games weren't as fun and the surface board controls just felt awkward to play. This chapter feels like a DLC then a standard alone game. I would recommend getting this game on sale its way too short compare to the others.

This is an ultimate fan-service game and I love it for that. To the Moon series has been with me for so long and the stories resonate with me so deeply(in particular Finding Paradise) that just seeing the characters being happy and enjoying their time and all these subtle references made me cry so many times. And the final speech just hit me so hard. I love it. Thank you Kan and the Freebird dev team.

It's an important story beat between the two main characters and thus you should play it, if you have played previous entries of the series. (To The Moon -> Finding Paradise -> Impostor Factory -> this) There is a Beach with user generated content which is beautiful to look through and get encouraged by.

Just as the title states, this is a short interlude for the To the Moon Series. If you haven't played any of the other games, you can play this on its own, but I highly recommend playing at least the third title Impostor Factory first. The beach episode follows Dr. Rosalene and her coworkers as they take a well deserved vacation from work. But the work is never done for long and so the company has given them an all inclusive 1 day vacation! (Wow, so generous, whatever will they do with a single full day of freedom?) With so little time it's no wonder the group comes up with a day jam packed with activities. You'll find yourself exploring the hotel, the local lighthouse, participate in some extreme sports, investigate hidden messages in the sand, and enjoy a lunch at the local one star restaurant! However, something doesn't seem quite right and Dr. Rosalene just can't seem to place why, surely she's only imagining it right? It's just the stress and aftereffects of helping so many customers relive life from the beginning at the cost of forgetting the life they really did live in reality...right? But then that doesn't explain why customers from previous assignments are at the Golden Lobster hotel alive and well... Gameplay lasts about 2 hours if you are primarily going from one plot point to the next without spending too much time on mini-games or interacting with the environment much. Unlike previous titles puzzles are few and far between, instead focusing on learning various plot points through environmental interactions. Due to this the sole achievement of the game will be granted upon completion of the story. The game threads together the old and new music to provide players with a sense of nostalgia and uneasiness. Through the soft sounds of the piano's keys comes the memories of many customer's final wishes and last moments. A true testament of the series' use of piecing together the joys of life with the inevitable sorrow it bestows. I personally found myself often sitting in the hotel lobby scrolling through the various tracks you can have played at the piano and simply allowing myself to feel the music. As briefly mentioned initially many of the story elements will make more sense to those that have played previous titles in the franchise, but the majority of major references will come from the third title, Impostor Factory. While this is an independent title and can be played without prior knowledge I highly recommend coming back to this after having played the previous games for the full effect. Similar to many of the other titles, the beach episode threads together lighthearted joy with life's dark undertones to create a short but thought provoking experience that won't leave the player until long after they have stopped playing. It does make you wonder though, is the ending more important than all the moments leading up to it?

What I love about Kan Gao is his ability to always tell a bittersweet story about loss and grief. He did it masterfully with To The Moon, and stayed on top of his game for every subsequent stories in the series. The Beach Episode is a beautiful knot to possibly end the series with nostalgic wonder: Beautiful piano music that is reminiscent of the whole series, chaotic characters that you come to know and love, and of course, the inevitable twist in the story that tears at your heartstrings, this time with an existential question: If an ending is "never good enough", would you hold on to the vague hope of what could have been, or cherish the moments that led up to it and force yourself to move on, no matter how abrupt? Of course I highly recommend, but you should play the previous titles before this standalone title.

To The Moon has cemented itself as my most favourite series ever. I remember the conflicted emotions I had at the end of the first game, I remember the way I broke down during the finale of Finding Paradise. I played through all the side games, read the books, and listened to the music whenever I was cramming for a test, or when my days weren't the best. I know this isn't the end, but this Episode feels like the story I've been waiting for the longest time--what everything has been culminating up to. I love these characters, and I can't thank the developers enough for creating something that has affected me and so many other people. I only wish I could make a story like this one day. I'm so glad I picked up the first game all those years ago, and I'm glad I've stuck with it up until now.

Was NOT expecting this to continue the story in such an important and heavy way. I don't want to leave that beach but I need to see how this journey ends. I love the To the Moon series and hope what comes next is just as amazing.
