The game does an incredible job balancing fun and realism, making a complicated game quite simple but super fun. As a fan of simulation games, I appreciated how balanced the mechanics are i.e. having pros and cons to your actions. For example, in most prior college football games, there is no incentive for playing harder teams, conversely, as a powerhouse or mid power school, there is no reason not to schedule cupcakes schedule. Here, there are financial incentives to incentivize and disincentivze accordingly. The interface is also a work of art. In the past, I have enjoyed the gameplay of other simulation games i.e. Front Office Football 8, The College Years, Bowl Bound College Football. While those games had great simulation and depth, UI was usually a bit lacking. This game nailed the UI and the gameplay is deep and fun enough to keep me engaged. Easily my favorite game of the year!

Love this game, it scratches my football simulation itch better than anything EA can produce.

I almost never write game reviews. I believe this is only my second. (I'm too busy gaming ;)) But I feel obligated to review this one out of respect to the developers and to thank them for providing hours of fun. I've played quite a few football sims, both pro and college, and this one is the best! The developers have created a way to play the game at different levels of immersion without losing the challenge. I've spent what will soon be 900 fun filled hours. Each time I dove deeper into the controls and strategy depth available there was a little learning curve which is normal when it comes to any game worth my time. The last update is definitely the best! (Hat tip to the developers.) I love climbing the ladder, although it doesn't take long to get the HC offers coming in, I like to start at one of the lowest prestige schools (e.g. Corvalis) and wait it out for a decent HC offer. If you're considering buying this game, don't hesitate. It's worth it!

If it was the end of the world and I had a bunker I would bring this with me and CIV 5. Great game worth it at full price.

For a college football management/simulation game, this is the current gold standard of things that exist. The game/developer is supported by an active Discord community that allows you to customize/important real world college names/colors/logos to bring your game an unmatched level of realism. This game can be as simple or as complex as you want as you are able to outsource gameplanning, recruiting, scheduling, in-game playcalling, etc. If you want to control every decision, you can certainly do that or simply automate the things that you don't enjoy managing.

I like the game and feel as the creators have been working hard at making it a polished product. Personally I would like a mode where I'm entirely doing nothing with the coaching. I prefer from my experiences with like Football Manager to focus on operations, and recruiting the right players and personnel.

If you like football, you will like this game. Personally, I'm not a big college football guy. However, I decided to try this game because of the great reviews and I was not disappointed at all. The gameplay loop feels satisfying and calling your own plays feels substantial. Certainly worth the price, but be prepared to spend a lot of time playing.

Football Coach: College Dynasty is a compelling and surprisingly deep management simulation that places players in the role of a college football head coach. Rather than focusing on flashy visuals or real-time action, it offers an immersive experience built around decision-making, strategy, and long-term program building. Whether you’re rebuilding a struggling school from the ground up or guiding a powerhouse to sustained dominance, the game provides a satisfying sense of progression and responsibility that mirrors the real pressures of college athletics. One of the most engaging aspects of the game is its detailed coaching system. Players are able to develop their own philosophy by choosing from a wide variety of offensive and defensive plays, customizing game plans, and assigning training priorities. As you gain experience over seasons, you unlock skill badges that improve your ability to recruit, coach, and manage players. These decisions carry weight on and off the field, with performance in games directly influenced by the way you’ve prepared your team throughout the year. Recruiting is another major focus, and it’s where the game truly shines. The process involves scouting talent, arranging visits, managing recruiting budgets, and even navigating name, image, and likeness deals to attract top prospects. It’s a strategic layer that requires planning and foresight, and it rewards those who invest the time to understand each recruit’s interests and preferences. The pressure to land key players and build a strong class mirrors the real-world college football landscape and adds tension to the off-season. Beyond the field, you also oversee facility upgrades, staff development, and even academic support for your athletes. You manage booster funds to improve various aspects of your program, from stadium seating to medical resources. Conference realignment, playoff customization, and roster rules give the player the ability to tailor the league to their liking, allowing for a very personalized dynasty. It’s easy to get attached to your program as you watch it evolve from a scrappy underdog to a perennial title contender. While the game offers a rich and immersive experience, it's not without a few flaws. The user interface can be dense and sometimes overwhelming, especially for new players. Certain systems, like halftime adjustments or special teams strategy, feel underdeveloped or absent altogether. There have also been occasional bugs with rosters or coach retirement features, which can frustrate players during long dynasties. However, the developer has shown consistent dedication to improving the game and regularly responds to community feedback with patches and updates. Community features such as modding support and Steam Workshop integration have expanded the game’s replayability. Players can import real or custom teams, create fictional conferences, and share scenarios, adding new depth to an already robust simulation. For those playing on handheld devices like the Steam Deck, UI adjustments have made the experience more accessible and enjoyable on smaller screens. Ultimately, Football Coach: College Dynasty is a standout entry in the sports sim genre. It strips away the fluff and focuses on what really matters: building a program, recruiting players, managing personalities, and making the right calls under pressure. It’s a slower, more thoughtful game, but one that delivers a deep sense of satisfaction as your decisions pay off over the course of years. For anyone who loves the idea of running a college football team from behind the scenes, this game offers a rewarding, addictive experience with tremendous long-term potential. Rating: 9/10

just spend 50 years trying to bring EMU a College Football Championship. This game is HARD, EXTREMELY HARD and insanely brutal. It feels almost like real football in that aspect, and I love how realistic and hard this game is and how it actually makes things difficult. If you put conference realignment every year by the way, that makes it even more insanely hard and fun. I love this game.
