A great Metroidvania game with enjoyable exploration and combat reminiscent of a classic Souls game. It's not as difficult as it might seem, but it will still challenge you to learn boss attack patterns. Visuals are...specific, let's put it like that, you might need some time to get used to it, but when you do its a match made in heaven.

I wasn't ready to give up through the terrible slog of the beginning. The fortress didn't make me lose hope either. The mid game actually got pretty enjoyable once I'd acquired some better movement options and stronger weapons. The problem I kept seeing was that every boss followed the same general pattern of "phase three means unreactable BS." This pattern, sadly, persists for the whole game. Combat in general isn't great, it's just Castlevania with extra steps but the bosses are where the turds really float. After pushing through some endgame bosses to what I was certain had to be the end, another curveball "lol jk it's not over yet" happened and I found myself in yet another new area with no narrative buildup and yet another boss that tested my patience more than anything else. Combine all that with a leveling system that barely does anything (weapons don't scale, health/magic upgrades are miniscule) an exploration based skill tree that...exists, I guess, and a scant few worthwhile collectibles and that's the game. The comparisons I've seen to Salt and Sanctuary and Dark Souls are skin deep; Skelethrone has very little complexity.

[b]Many have said that before me, but...its essentially 2D Souls, with good art and solid difficulty.[/b] This is just an awesome platformer. Here we run as a knight, destroying enemies in locations. And often they will be much stronger than us, but still, like a berserker, our hero is ready to smash them with his sword. This game is very interesting: constant battles, upgrades and a huge number of mobs and bosses make the gameplay long and exciting. And nice 2D pixel graphics and a cool soundtrack give the vibe of old roguelikes. If you played "Skelethrone: The Prey" or love Soulslike games, you will definitely like this part.
