I play a lot of deckbuilders and this one's good enough I put in 25 hours in under a week. Hard to recommend any more clearly than that.

This game being in early stages means things are not gonna be perfect. I on the other hand think this game is a great start at being Goated for me highly recomend and urge people to try.

A fun roguelite deckbuilder, requiring you to balance reading your enemy's moves as well as think about how to use your cards so you don't end up with everything on cooldown. I guess that sounds normal, but the way this game does it feels good, and it's fun to get a good burst in and watch the enemy modules get taken all offline. Your ship choice determines your gear (think FTL), but also determines your crew faction reputation, and how you'll interact with those while navigating the systems. I was pleasantly surprised to find the differences fairly significant between the starting ship and the first one you unlock. It's early access however, so keep that in mind. There's a couple performance hitches, particularly when a ship is destroyed, and I've ran into a handful of spelling errors.

Liked the different variants I can go with in each game did not like the difficulty of fuel cost being first level though very harsh for first level difficulty

It's almost an exact combination of Slay the Spire and Faster Than Light, so if you love those, it's definitely worth picking up.

Fun but buggy and RNG based. Run take 30 min -> 1 hr. Not enough game for full price atm so get it on sale. Gameplay is perhaps too simple because there's little strategic decision making. You just hit as many nodes as you can and pray that's good enough. Play the game too long? Crash every battle.(restart required) You can go negative $ in the shop because you can buy an item and not have the "buy" button register. so every click you lose the value of the item as $. This is a card based game, but some card descriptions aren't accurate or unclear. (Energy Spike+, repeater pulse) But it's still fun, so recommended.

Honestly this game is kind of fantastic. I'm often not super into deck builders but this one has really won me over - there's a good amount of depth but there are still accessible builds to work your way into the mechanics. There's only two sectors right now but I'm really looking forward to the later areas - I want to see how my best builds fare against the more advanced enemies I'm sure will show up later on! Replayability in the limited areas so far is pretty good once you understand how the game is structured - you're playing through the same maps each time but the way you build your deck is what can make the game very different.

Breachway is rogue-like space RPG where players manage equipment and cards through multiple, deck builder style combat encounters. While the game is clearly inspired by FTL's theme and rogue-like mechanics; the game's combat, art-style, and management systems make it feel distinct. The game is still in early access and has limited content. Even in its unfinished state, the game's strategic combat and deck management are fun enough for me to recommend it (especially on sale). Pros: - Solid Sci-Fi theme - True rogue-like experience (chad builds, dumb builds, annoying losses, and glorious victories) - Decent graphics - Fun Deck building Cons: - Incomplete playthrough (only 2 sectors to explore and surpass) - Lack of story and lore - Poorly balanced cards (some builds are great, most others lack any viability) - limited content - lack of any interesting events or choices outside combat To go into more details: I recommend the game mainly because I enjoy the deck building and combat. I think learning and mastering the different builds is fun enough to justify the price, even if some are too strong, too weak, or niche to pull off. I would not recommend this game for its storytelling or for players who enjoy seeing the various non-combat events and choices common in other rogue-like games. I have seen other reviews blast the difficulty, lack of any viable builds, and dependence on RNG (luck). The card combat system is much more complicated than the combat in FTL, and more complicated than Slay the Spire. I will admit there is a learning curve for the combat, but it is learnable for anyone with the patient to learn. I found there were a few decent builds that could beat the sector 2 boss (currently the final boss). But they require carefully picking cards, selling or not using equipment that doesn't help the build, and using stations to get money to pay for ideal equipment. Admittedly, the rewards and random loot in this game are bad. Regular combat mostly only give a few credits and a single card (assuming a card slot is available). Rarely, players get new equipment, but most of the time the equipment doesn't suit the player's build, comes with bad cards, or their isn't an available equipment slot to add it too. Elite encounters have better rewards, but are not always worth the risk. This force player to be frugal with their credits. I typically spend all my money repairing my ship, buying more fuel, and purchasing the one non-terrible equipment or sub-equipment I can afford. The main RNG in Breakway is the enemy builds you encounter and the random equipment rewards. There not much that can be done about the first, but for the second, all useless equipment can be sold at stations for credits you can use. I always rely on going to stations to sell bad equipment. Even if the station does not have any useful equipment, those credits can be spent on repairs, resource capacity, or reactor capacity. Anyway, in summary: Fun deck building and combat, lack luster in everything else. I will probably stop playing after I unlock and play with the finally ship. But I try it out again when more content is released.

Don't know if I can recommend this game in its current iteration. The fuel system sucks and I mean SUCKS. It's the single thing that can literally make the game unplayable. Want to explore? Too bad. Want to check out that mysterious node? Too bad. Git gud. Or conversely magically manifest fuel out of nothing in between the start and the stations 20 nodes away. Just give me the option to explore and fight and add fuel a little easier.
