Fun for 10 bucks. A bit frustrating at first until you get the hang out of it. Can be a bit Pavolovian. They could very easily reskin this as a pirate ship game.

Make sure you actually enjoy Deckbuilders/Card Games and Rougelike's. If you do you will like this game. Please keep the updates coming Devs don't listen to the haters you guys are doing a good job. Some things to improve is maybe a couple more attack animations to increase variety. More sound effects and more ambience/immersive sounds.
Hooded Horse has quickly become one of my favorite Publishers for indie games so It was an easy decision to buy this game. Just please don't give up on the game!

A bit grindy - yes. But there's a lot of replayability and different mechanics to learn. Game teaches you to manage resources and do complicated combos in order to succeed. Sometimes one combat modifier completely overhauls how you play and that's an amazing experience
Balance is also a bit off, but in player's favor - some things just make another playthrough a breeze.
Overall - recommend if you like a bit repetitive but satisfying gameplay

Hard to recommend the game in its current state as it is quite bare bones, gets boring fast and comes down to a boring easy grind.
The aesthetics and the core idea is really nice tho. There's a bit of innovation but this game just needs more aspects in order to not be just a weak FTL card combat clone.
I am very much looking forward to the full version and wish the game all the best.
Buy if you want to support the devs.

tentative yes recommendation
i genuinely love this game... i don't usually get into the deck games like slay the spire but this one just really clicks with me... i think having the decks build out from visible, fully-animated ship components was a brilliant idea. the combat loop is very fun and the resource management is a great twist i find to be really well balanced. i like the various hulls to choose from and i'm addicted to missile boats.
i get bored of the maps quite often and there's a tremendous amount of RNG as far as getting a map that just gives you lanes to succeed in. i wouldn't care about this so much if the same RNG didn't apply to ship builds and equipment drops. there are certain ways to build certain ship hulls and whether or not you end up with a strong build to effectively survive just the first map is very dependent on seemingly randomized loot (for example, getting a laser when you're building a missile boat or your third supply component in a row when you really need another gun). if i didn't enjoy the combat loop so much, this would have turned me off the game a while ago.
RNG aside, the game is very well balanced i think. the devs seem very competent and driven to support this game, and i think it's a really unique twist on these deck combat games.
also, intentional or not, this game plays extremely well on the steam deck using its touch screen... would love to see a UI option that's a little more friendly to touch screen controls but i actually mostly play on the deck.

It's a bit like a scifi version of slay the spire. I've been enjoying it as a side game to wind down in the evenings

Game is kind of incomplete.
The basic loop is okay, your run of the mill STS clone. Becomes quite easy once you figure it out, bosses aren't that bossy or even different.
Not okay parts:
Story or even motivation is nonexistant. After beating the last boss i was told i didn't figure out some kind of signal, even though i went through all the marked nodes.
There are 4 factions, no real difference to them, no real reason to favor one over another.
Upgrades are badly implemented, before you get a chance to upgrade your draft deck for a weapon and get a couple card slots, you are likely to be full on cards in that weapon already. Delete cards? That's a huge investment of money (2 upgrades + deletions) for a marginal bump, so i just didn't bother and flakked everything with a starting gun. Stations are rare. There is nothing but fight nodes and maybe-fight nodes.
Eh.

Game is fun but the entirety of the map is trial and error. Half of the time the game gives no indication of when decisions matter. Sometimes it will prompt you of the results of the decision, the other times it just closes the text/dialog box and goes back to the map. And since you can only move freely on like 1/10 of the map you end up spending precious and limited fuel on something that could have been easily avoided. Also, when it does this and pushes you back out to the world map it doesn't mark off the location as a place that you will no longer have an activity, tricking you into thinking that you can try again for a different result. You can try again but the result won't change. It's one of those "illusion of choice" that I hate when games do that only drains you of resources (it will cost fuel to access it again). It's a knowledge gap trap because the game never does anything to indicate that it's basically an irreversible trap.
Speaking of knowledge gap traps. There is no benefit to travelling to icons other than fights (besides docking stations and reactor upgrades). Fight icons ALWAYS reward the player for winning, while literally every other icon (outside of docking stations and reactor upgrades) are gambling to get the same the rewards you would have just got for going to a fight icon instead. Participating in every fight you can is how you actually build synergy and a proper deck so all other options are just not good in comparison. Even when going to a different location that isn't a fight icon but gives a dialog option that still results in a fight anyway it's still gambling. It will say something along the lines of "60% success rate upon winning". And with this game's XCOM success rates you effectively avoided a fight icon to go to a different location just to still fight, and then get nothing when you win. Worse case scenario, you lost resources to get there.
A lot of card descriptions are vague enough to make many cards trial as well, because they sound to closely worded to cards that don't do the same thing -basically making it where you have to use it first to actually see what it's doing (voiding the purpose of the description).
The game isn't complete either. Their are level systems that you can see in text but clearly aren't available to be used yet, and there are game breaking bugs like the game freezing on specific dialog options forcing you to start a new run.
The game is fun but I definitely wouldn't recommend buying it unless on sale in a couple of years when they actually finish the game.

Fun at the start while discovering enemies and equipments but bosses require a planed build. Game is too random, random drops, random upgrades, random everything. Need to have a better balance in what can be planed for and what is random. Random is fun, makes runs feels different from one to other but this feels like playing monopoly.

Game was released into Early Access in September of 2024. So far the team has done nothing but re-arrange their code and assets for almost two full years. There has been no actual progress as far as I can tell, and the game is still incredibly barebones and has virtually no variety or content.
Stay away, this is a scam.
