Good responses and devs are working hard.
I do like the way it plays, the way it looks, and the way it sounds. Plays like FTL/STS/Darkest Dungeon, the looks are crisp without being overly stimulating, and best of all the music sounds like Mass Effect.
Looking forward to sector 3 and the continuing of the Signal.

This game is extremely fun. I feel like all of the comments about the game being too hard have never played this games close cousin, FTL (Faster Than Light). You are not going to win every run, and as you grind, you get better at everything, including deck management. Most players that complain about difficulty take every card they see and never build a strategy. I challenge you to try this game and have fun with the mechanics, as the combat is immensely satisfying. The sounds and effects are one of my favorite parts of this game, the ship design is also amazing. Tilt your camera and admire the damage you've done. The roguelite elements are undercooked a bit (the map never changes, really), but the combat is the shining factor of this game. I hope it builds on this amazing foundation and doesn't bend the knee to complainers that dont want to learn the game or always just want to win.
For a more critical take, there are some half-baked elements most people don't talk about that are worthy of the early-access title. Not all weapons are created equal, and some builds are just stronger. Components help change the game flow and shift builds, but the railgun doesn't flow well, hacking needs more work, and missiles are too easily countered. Defense in this game needs some sort of pacing change, like all defense potentially being burst, or having a separate hand for just defenses?
But also, BUGS. I encounter so many on a normal run it is just ridiculous. Having to spam click to review weapon cards sets because they wont preview, right clicking cards you pick them up by accident will auto discard them (you have to wait 3 seconds to put back a card you didnt want to play instead of discarding), stuttering, shop descriptions going below the screen, pre-combat dialogue occasionally not matching the situation, all of these are frequent (every run consistently) and annoying.
Overall, this game has a great foundation. If it plays its cards well (pun intended), it can be the next Slay the Spire FTL space hybrid. But expand the games story (alot), make an endless mode, balance weapons, and you'll have a goldmine. I am excited to see its development.

Fantastic game! It's everything I've been looking for in a deck-builder-strategy. I know, it's such a cliche to say it, but it's true. If you look at my library of games and consider what I also have in GOG and Playstation, I have a lot to compare this game to. Breachway is like Knights in Tight Spaces and Balatro had a baby in the Star Trek universe and the all hang out in Slay the Spire.
I've only unlocked the first 2 ships, but both play very differently from each other. I immediately assumed the newer ship would be better and so on up the line. I was wrong. It's part of a different faction from the previous ship so you are playing a different role. The strategy and tactics are very different from the previous ship so I can't even tell you which one I prefer. There are several routes through the star systems but you have to watch your fuel. Do you upgrade the components on your ship? Do you replace the components with better versions or completely different?
I only have 6 hours invested so far, but I've been playing every day after work and I'm absolutely hooked

FTL came out years ago; admittedly, this game is a polished narrow modern deckbuilder rather than the slightly messier of mechanics we had then, but I can't help feeling that I've played the game already. What's new? That less pure gameplay seemed to have more soul & character.

This has been an enjoyable space roguelike and it's actively developed. It is definitely an early access game, but I'm watching its progress with great interest.

The game's primary conceit is cool for all of 2 hours. And then you realize you're just playing Slay the Spire, except for some reason the game only lets you put 4 block cards into your deck , which kind of guarantees you won't draw them when you need them on the early turns. Oh sure, you can reset fights until the rng doesn't fuck you over, but who the fuck has time for that bullshit? All lot of the concepts are interesting and cool. And terribly executed with little thought to how fluid it makes the game.
There's far too many problems that aren't just simple fixes for me to actually recommend this game.

Fun, but too short of a campaign, and rewards are lacking credit wise, earning credits needs to be increased as it's just pennies. I would hold out on getting this game until more is added and until this game is more fleshed out. A WHOLE LOT BETTER than it was on day 1 on release, looking forward to how this game grows!

Graphics and game concept are good. After the update the game feels like you could play any ship and have a chance; however....
It is 100% against you. You could have a phenomenal build , but lo and behold an enemy ship (especially in the second system) is the near perfect counter to your build, and then after surviving that conflict (to which you'll most likely suffer severe damage) RNGeezus just so happens to make every node to the next space station a conflict zone...notwithstanding your relations to whatever faction in that zone.
So be prepared to be screwed over at every opportunity, no matter how well you think you understand this game, RNGeezus says screw you.
I forgot to add this as well, the heat mechanic is absolutely broken...towards you, and it make no fracking sense. So you see cards that will give you heat if played, or dealt to you with enemies, which makes sense...but then get heat on playing things that don't tell you they generate heat. Now you try to be the heat dispenser guy...too bad the AI have better capacity and/or dissipation than you ever will.
I'm revising this on the fact that I can't play this anymore, the heat mechanic is absolutely broken against you...as of this review I would've beat the second boss, but heat killed me on literally the last turn to kill said boss. I played few heat generation cards, have radiators equipped and upgraded, took relatively little heat from the boss, shielded often and attacked every turn, but the heat just kept building, never venting...it was practically the perfect build (Avalanche in case you're wondering)...but it still isn't enough.
Player ships need to have better heat management because as it stands you're not going to win against the 'final' boss.

This game is pretty good, well worth your money. Some of the negative reviews mentioned balancing issues & they were valid. However they've been updating frequently these past few months & have addressed it well so far. They're responsive & engaged with the community too.
