Mediocre. It's fun for the first two hours, but then the rest of the time is just about getting achievements. Regarding the gameplay: at the beginning of each game, you can choose a spell that will be your main attack and an essence that will give you a benefit. It's not bad, but later in the game it will be strange to find an interesting synergy, no matter which spell you choose. Basically, you'll find a few upgrades that help you and the rest will be practically useless, so in each game you'll end up selecting the same upgrades, and it will become repetitive. To win a game, you have to pass through five zones. These zones, although named differently, are literally exactly the same: same terrain, same enemies, same bosses. The enemies never stand out; they just chase you or shoot you, or follow you and shoot you. The bosses are mostly okay, even though they only have two to four attack patterns, but it's still more fun to fight them than the regular enemies. In the final zone, you'll face a boss, not a complicated final boss, just a regular one that I mentioned earlier, because this game doesn't have a final boss. Very anticlimactic. On top of that, the bosses don't get harder in each zone; they have exactly the same stats and attacks all the time. This means that the last boss you face, which I've already mentioned isn't special, will be destroyed by the upgrades you've been accumulating. Finally, what do you get for winning a game? Money that you can use to buy spells and essences. What do you do next? Playing another run, that's all the game offers you. I'd like give this game a more neutral thumb, but since Steam doesn't allow that...
