I'm loving it.
I hope the devs will keep adding to it for a good time.

It's a survivors style game with a good amount of different characters with plenty of different weapons and ways you can build each character. If you're a fan of vampire survivors you will probably enjoy this.
Only with the "default" controls on the Steam Deck were better.

Didn't know what I got into when I bought this...
UNTIL I PLAYED IT!
ADDICTIVE A-F!
Thought it was just some fancy 2D / 3D look game on a cheap,
but as I got into it, it has a pretty deep progression ahead.
Very progressive and dynamic play, simple yet deep thought put into it's creation.
Highly recommend for those passing time, or on-the-move!

The developer has openly admitted to pushing a non-ready game as a final product in order to take advantage of a Steam promotional slot.
They pushed back features that were due in the final game to accommodate this decision, on top of having raised the prices of this game already while in early access.
I do not recommend this game in light of their behavior.

The developer, in their most recent update, has openly admitted to pushing a non-ready game as a final product, in order to take advantage of a Steam promotional slot.

Unfortunately, I can't recommend this game in light of their behavior.

the developer releasing an unfinished game and pushing back features to profit from the release sale slot is disgusting.do not supporit such greedy behaviour.

Graphics: 7/10, nothing fancy and there are occasions where overlapping enemies can make projectiles hard to see. However, that is more than offset by a wealth of options to allow this game to run even if you have a potato.
Audio: 7/10 Sounds are fine, and there are quite a few options including muting music so you can have your own personal playlist. I found the in-game music nothing special, but never sounded bad. Pretty much in-line with good examples of the Bullet Heaven/Arena Survivor genre.
Gameplay: 9/10 It's not complete, but the devs are active and multiple patches improving performance and optimization have dropped. The roadmap indicates there is more yet to come but Rogue Genesia already has more content than most Bullet Heaven games which claim to be complete. The game shows you a lot of numbers which you can ignore for casual runs, or dive into to make silly niche builds. Most levels take only a few minutes of time and you can save and load at any point, during the Across the Obelisk-style overworld map during a run or even within a mission. So it's great for fitting in a few minutes or sitting down for a long run.
If you like the Bullet Heaven or Survivor-like genre, this game is picking up the torch. It is well worth the money even at full price.

I picked this up not long after it launched into early access, didn't really think much of it at the time. Just another bullet heaven game that didn't have a whole lot to it yet. It's now more than 2 years later and there is definitely a lot to this game now. You've got your weapons, your meta talents, a whole ass equipment system that I've barely scratched the surface of yet. There are other playable characters that I have yet to touch, let alone unlock all of. If you like bullet heaven games, Rogue: Genesia is worth your while.

Fun survivors like, runs are fairly lengthy and they will get lengthier with the release of the A zone. You play multiple stages per zone with a boss at the end of the zone, then move on to the next zone until death or completion. You can save your run to continue later but I've had multiple instances where I accidentally erased the run-save by doing a meta upgrade before continuing, unsure if they've patched or added a confirmation dialog to prevent that.

An odyssey through the thickets of monsters. Two modes, the more roguelite multi-stage one and the more horde-survival single-map one. Nice epics and legendaries, secrets, variations of maps and areas. A ton of options, items/relics, and skills... plus moddability, on top of that!
