Game is good, but keeps crashing on Nvidia's most recent driver on my 4060.
Deserves a positive review though.

I feel like I got my money's worth at 40 hours, but every run is basically the same now that I've unlocked most things so I'm probably finished with it.

The synergies between abilities received on runs lead to crazy fun builds with ever expanding amounts of ways to tear through wave after wave of enemy. Great fun!

I was late to the Vampire Survivors/bullet heaven genre but after I discovered VS I tore through every game of that style I could find. There are a lot of good ones out there, but this and Halls of Torment are in my opinion the best by a mile. Starts out a bit slow as many of these types of games do, but don't let that fool you. Tons of unlocks, enormous potential for build variety (though there are definitely some just "objectively much stronger than other options" builds) and still being actively maintained and developed.
At this point I actually have almost twice as many hours in Rogue: Genesia - which cost me 15 dollars - as I do in VS and Halls of Torment combined, and I fully plan to go back when the next update releases and put more hours in. Genuinely just a great game made with a lot of love and passion for the genre.

After a very little while, all my runs ended up going exactly the same way. I would end up killing most things before they even enter the screen, then get killed almost instantly by something I couldn't even see. Fun for a little while, very nice looking and great music, but cannot recommend as it is quite poorly designed.

I liked the game up until they added rank world B. It just gets too busy, the game was much better early on in early access when the concept and game play was simple. But now there's corruption mechanics, gear, classes, talents, card types all of which might sound good but i don't think its necessary.
The phrase less is more is well suited for this game. Before i was able to just jump on and start a run, start with nothing and build an indestructible beast, or a glass cannon. But now you cant just jump into a game you have to deal with talents (for which there is too many) and gear (for which there is too many) and then select a class which has some gimmick which doesn't really add much to the game play.
And to come back to the issue with Rank world B, the problem with this is by this point the game becomes repetitive, grindy and just uninteresting. So ok cool they have new enemies, visuals and stuff but im not gaining new abilities or doing anything new at this point, i'm just improving core abilities like damage or health etc.
And the summoner class, well the game pretty much becomes unplayable with him since the screen just fills up with summons and the game cant handle it (yes even with all visual settings turned to its lowest). The game walks at a snails pace with painstakingly slow frame rate when you get to Rank world B with the Summoner. Honestly this is a shame because i loved this game early on but the more they added the less interested i became.

Of all of the survivor genre games I've played, this one has by far the most layers and depth. You can get incredibly granular on the data for each buff, debuff, upgrade, avatar, level, stat, equipment, and weapon. It's absolutely crazy how insane the builds can get in this game. I lost my mind the first time I maxed out a weapon only to see an Evolution of it pop up that was even crazier. The gameplay is absolutely peak for the genre. All of the weapon cards have keywords you can hover over that make it easy to quickly understand how it impacts your final stats and how it will influence your current build.
The music in this game is also next level. Not only do the soundtracks absolutely bang but when you are in a menu the music slows down and has a filter applied but somehow that slowed version now sounds like an entirely new soundtrack that also bangs. Hard to describe with words but if you value a killer soundtrack you won't be disappointed.
Any negatives? Naturally. The menu UI design/interface can be a bit problematic with some menus overlaying and interfering with each other on occasion - though it doesn't disrupt gameplay. Additionally I much prefer to play a game like this as a twin-stick shooter with a controller so I can recline and relax. However, the controller interface in this game doesn't always function and can be clunky/slow to use. I ended up just using mouse and keyboard after getting annoyed with it. Would love to see the devs fix that. For reference, I'm using a Flydigi Vader 4 that works perfectly on any game that supports controller.
