10/10 Dungeons of Hinterberg is a game that delivers exactly what it promises: a thoughtful, exciting, and heartfelt vacation from the dredges of modern life. The characters are likable, the combat satisfying, and the journey is one well worth taking.

Such a GREAT GAME :D Not only is the combat varied, fun, and just the right level of difficult, the story hits just right. These characters are rich and deep and sweet and hilarious. I had so much fun while also having a second look at how work and rest interact in my life.

Not even completely finished but I already know this is a recommend. This is the type of game I've been missing lately; more and more lately I find that I'm playing games just for the sake of playing games and to be completely honest most of the games I've been purchasing just aren't worth my time. They're not fun, they don't respect my time, or they're just rehashes of games I've already played to make a quick buck. I've missed playing a game that is just a game and all the extra thoughtful commentary about life is actually pretty insightful. Definitely give this game a go if you're feeling like you're in a rut, it won't disappoint, it's just a good old-fashioned game.

Excellent - love was put into this game! Highly recommended to those who think they might be interested! The art style is gorgeous, the world design is beautiful, the "friend relationship system" is fresh and fun, the daily cycle system is clever and addicting, the combat is well done (but if you're wanting hardcore/perfect fighting mechanics then it might not be for you), the puzzles are largely intriguing. My only complaints are surrounding the movement: in general the movement is a bit slow for my taste, and the climbing mechanic is too slow and a bit rigid (I would be fine if the devs simply sped up the animations at the expense of realism). I LOVE riding around on the snowboard and you really feel the difference when you go back to walking and climbing.

I absolutely loved this game! The combat is fun, the puzzles are great, and every area of the game keeps things fresh and exciting. With so many dungeons, you'd think things would be repetitive, but they never are! The characters are fun and interesting, and the mechanic of earning skills depending on who you choose to spend time with is unique and fun! Even downtime has variety. I love the story itself and the art style is charming. I cannot recommend this game enough!

Fantastic game. I love the variety of the areas and the light combat and puzzle solving is fun. The personality of the town and characters is wonderful and engaging and the way the socialization with the characters connects with your stats is really clever.

Phenomenal action RPG! Wonderful cell shading, fun puzzle oriented dungeons, enjoyable combat - really just a fresh take all around and have encountered 0 bugs since starting. The main town and its people are truly endearing and I highly recommend this game for anyone.

I genuinely loved this game and I can't wait for a sequel (please make a sequel, I am your loyal fan until the end!!) This game is beautiful. The style is absolutely breathtaking and it never ever looks messed up or janky. The music is also beautiful and adds to the scenery and battles so well. I also personally really liked the combat. I feel like some people were talking about it not being engaging, and I guess that's true if you never push yourself, but if you're trying dungeons a little above your level (like 1 or 2) and enemies around the same they're usually decently tough and asking you to really use the mechanics to win. I really like how much you could diversify your playthrough, be it with different gems charms slotted (which are actually really good upgrades, not like 1.5% buff to combat), different special abilities you can unlock and slot onto your hot bar, and different combos that played into each of these systems. This variety was also further enhanced when changing up magical abilities in each different dungeon biome, which was also very fun just alone. I liked going to different biomes and having to remember what abilities I had and figure out how to use them in each dungeon to make it through certain puzzles or enemies. Another big part of this game was the story and the NPCs. Basically the main gameplay loops goes like this: Wake up in the morning, get ready for dungeon, pick biome to go to and either roam around the map to find a dungeon and complete it or roam around the map to find rest spots or NPCs to pass the time with, then go back home to spend your evening with one of the locals (either a tourist staying there just like you or an actual local that lives there), then go to bed for the night before doing it all over again the next day. Maybe that sounds a little boring, but the mixture or story, puzzles, and combat really make it an interesting and fun loop. A big part of that fun, other than the combat which I just described, are the NPC storylines and how your story works off theirs. I really do love the writing in this game -- the plot talking about tourism in a really meaningful and real way and all the NPCs acting and speaking in a very realistic and interesting manner in response to that was just so well done. I loved being able to go hang out with someone at the end of the night, especially after a relatively stressful dungeon. After hanging out with a certain NPC enough times you're given very special upgrades that usually tie in to the personality or story of the person you're hanging out with. This ends up making the rewards highly satisfying, not just because they're unique and good upgrades, but also because it was a reward that meant something to the NPC I was just developing a relationship with. With those two together, the combat and the NPC relationships, it ends up making a really satisfying and fun time throughout basically the entire runtime, despite some of it being a little repetitive and there not being a ton of enemy variety. There also feels to be a small amount of bosses, now that I'm thinking back to it, so I think I would have liked some more of that too, but like I said I was having so much fun in the moment it all didn't really matter to me until I started to really think on it. Now, with all that said, the end of my //checks playtime// HOLY SHIT -- 30 hour playthough ..... o.o ...... was a bit of a slog ((which maybe you'd expect for an indie that can have over 30 hours of content)). I was invested in the story and the NPCs that I really wanted to finish all their storylines before the end of the main game. I felt like that was kinda the point, getting to know everyone around you and their perspectives, even if they didn't seem to make sense at first because all perspectives are worth considering and viewing. But like.. it was fucking impossible to do all the NPC events; and I don't say this to be dramatic it was genuinely starting to ruin my playthrough so I just had to give up on it and end the game. And then there was a final area where all the people you got to know well enough came to see you off and like... that made me so mad? Cause I wanted to do everyone's story and when I saw people missing when I ended up giving up it was like damn did you not want me to give up? Did they expect anyone to do all the NPC stories in one playthrough? If so, then why did they make it so god damn hard? When I say to you that I was done with all dungeons and just burning time before finishing literally the last one for HOURS just so I could pass the days and get better relationship with NPCs I really mean it bro. It was probably like 2 streams worth of content where I was mostly focusing only on NPCs and there were multiple times were I'd do a whole storyline with an NPC and then my relationship wouldn't even go up with them...MULTIPLE TIMES IN A ROW. bruh... It takes me a whole day to talk to one NPC, either give me more dungeons or let me level up the relationship more. Even if I'm not meant to get to know everyone in one playthrough I think the time it takes with some of them is just too long and it really kills the pacing of the game. Even though I feel that way, that's honestly my only real issue with the game. Some medals were hard to get and it made me a little frustrated because it meant either redo a whole dungeon or just don't get the outfit and when I had really nothing else I wanted to use my copious amount of money on by the end of the game it made me feel a little bad; but really that was a minor issue in the grand scheme of things. The battles and dungeons were fun; I loved the puzzles and I usually don't feel that way in games with puzzles as a "side" thing or whatever you want to call it in adventure games like this. The world and every single bit of its design is GORGEOUS, I wish I could live in this world. The music accompanied the world and all the dungeons and battles so well, I was always immersed. All the NPCs were not only well written, like I said, but well designed. Powers and abilities felt like they were designed around how fun they would be to use, not how hard they needed to be to execute. I just loved basically everything about this game and I want the studio to make more so desperately. **It's like if Zelda and Persona had an indie baby** and while it isn't perfect, it's also this studio's FIRST GAME and I think there is so much promise here. I love this and I will support this studios next project with my dying breath (especially if it's a SEQUEL!!!!!!) So yeah, obviously highly recommended. You know what to look out for, so please enjoy your playthrough! <3

Really cool adventure game with super solid pacing even though it might look a bit more open than it actually is. The choice to put different magic skills in the different worlds was a masterstroke. Puzzles might be on the easier side but the combat to puzzle ratio is great up until the last tier of dungeons. Some minor issues with the social upgrades, occasional fixed camera perspectives and the auto-jump but still probably a 9/10 for me.

This game is cute and a tiny bit of fun but not enough to get me to keep playing it. Very basic features, very simple game, too simple. Too childish. Even cartoony games can have a little bit of complexity to it sometimes, but this game felt a bit too simple to me.
