A lot left to be desired...
Environments are beautiful - No reward for revisiting areas
Music is Beautiful - Just buy the soundtrack and skip the game
Story is Ok for a JRPG, best played with Jap audio and Eng subtitles.
To many Characters, leading to lack of involvement in any single one.
Moves, weakness system and Job system make the game play VERY repetitive
Once you have a system that works, It becomes Pointless to experiment.
Locked with Main character you choose at the start is Torture.
Main character becomes over-leveled while party struggles to keep up.
Game quickly becomes a slog.
5/10 Buy on sale only. Or don't at all.

Great game, even better than the first one! They added some interesting aspects like travelling on the world map and the crossed paths that are very enjoyable.
The writing was only slightly improved and went up from bad to average, and if they were to purge all those Disney villain "Mwahahahahahahas" from dialogues, the writing would immediately improve to good. But the travelling gameplay as well as combat more than make up for the mediocre writing. The game has everything a turn-based combat appreciater's heart desires. Absolutely fantastic!
The characters themselves are also great and likeable. There were barely any one wouldn't want in the party. The endgame was really well-executed as well. And of course the "modern retro" aesthetic is just incredible!
Overall, definitely worth recommending! Hopefully, they'll stick to the formula, but improve the writing in the next part, then it will truly be a masterpiece.

Octopath Traveler 2 is a cozy, stylish JRPG that’s super fun to get lost in. The combat is quick and flashy, with just the right amount of strategy to keep things interesting, and the animation style is absolutely gorgeous—seriously, it’s one of the prettiest games out there. Exploring the world is a blast, even if it can get a bit grindy at times. The character stories aren’t the most polished, but they’re still enjoyable and have their moments. If you’re into classic RPG vibes with a modern look, this one’s definitely worth checking out.

I haven't played the first one yet, but this game is still one of my favorite RPG's ever. The Combat is fun, the characters are interesting, the world is fun to explore, and its difficult. The stories aren't very deep but you don't need that to be a fun game. The only thing i would change is being able to remove the character you started the game with from your party, because i forgot to do the stories of the characters that weren't in my party, and its not very fun going back with a level 50 temenos that i cant get rid of, when the expected level is 34.

I've played JRPGs for a long time, where many of my favorites come from the Super NES days with titles like Chrono Trigger, FF6, and Lufia 2. My opinion may be in some part due to recency bias, but I believe that this stands out among all games I've ever played as the best JRPG, for my taste. The music is the very best I've heard in any game, the battle system is fun, the story is highly enjoyable, and the characters are very relatable. Would strongly recommend for anyone who loves turn-based RPGs.

Many characters to play with unique skills. Good story. Turn based combat RPG.

Honestly, not a huge fan. There is a lot I liked about it, like the art style and the graphics, the music, the way the characters were introduced. But I didn't love the combat or the class system very much. The game also felt like a slog a lot of the time and I found the progression kind of confusing. I understand that it is supposed to allow you to make your own choices on what parts of the story to progress and when, but it was overwhelming to me.

For me it is too similar to OT1.
Storylines become bland and too predictable if you played the first game.
I downright just ignored them for some time because it's just too much yapping without a lot of entertainment or wonder.
That being said, the game itself is still a lot of fun and some of the new classes are quite cool.
Only thing combat-wise is I think too many classes have easy access to AoE which made combat and grinding very easy.
IMO you only need to play either OT1 or OT2 , from my pov OT1 is harder, OT2 has more QoL

Better than Octopath 1 in terms of game play in pretty much every way, but I liked more of the individual characters of 1 than I did 2. However the cast in 2 has much more opportunities to interact with each other, and the Quality of life features makes it hard to play 1 after playing 2. I recommend trying out both games, but definitely recommend playing the first game before this.
