Not a terrible light-puzzle / walking simulator from a single developer. When reviewing this game you have to take into account its low price and the fact that it is a single developer. The graphics are pretty good, which is no surprise given that this is a UE5 game. The puzzles are not very hard mainly searching for things and doing operations in the right order. The story is okay, it lacks any real drama or big reveal, but there is scope to expand on the lore of the game in future. In short it was a pleasant way to kill a few hours for a low price, but I didn't finish it in one sitting as I got frustrated at one point because I couldn't see how to go forward.

[th]MY RATING:[/th] [th] 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 ✘ ✘ [/th] [th]8 / 10[/th]

I would describe Santo Island Incident as a challenging first-person puzzle game and it reminded me of “The Turing Test”, at least in terms of opening the doors. The game is currently playable in English and Turkish and, in addition to the option to switch the subtitles on or off, offers the FOV slider, which I always like to see. The menu is clearly structured and offers sufficient setting options for the game. However, I find the arrangement of the control settings a bit confusing and the sensitivity can only be set in steps of five, but that's more "moaning at a high level". In the menu there is still the sub-item Addons, which currently has no function, but I'm curious to see what might come in the future. The level design, with its unique concept, the attention to detail and the absolutely successful atmosphere really invites you to explore. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2825686230 https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2825686447 And exploration is rewarded. The material that you find there can be exchanged for useful and required items at various upgrade stations and you can also upgrade them in several stages. Searching for and finding the materials is mostly relaxed and not particularly difficult if you open your eyes and look around. There is also legendary material, which is not that easy to find, but you will be rewarded with an achievement. Speaking of achievements. These work perfectly and are actually all easy to get. Since the game currently still has the status "Steam is learning about this game", i.e. the profile features are limited, the game is not rated as a perfect game in the profile and the achievements in the stats are not taken into account. (For those who care). I don't want to reveal anything about the story itself at this point, but even if it's not too complex and the game itself isn't very difficult, I really enjoyed it and it was a relaxed and entertaining experience that I can only recommend to you. If you are undecided, use the option and play the demo. I think it's worth it and the game definitely deserves a look. Meh. You can tell the game was made by a solo developer. That is the only reason why I am recommending this game. I respect it. Though I personally don't think the game is that good. There are a couple of interesting mechanics and puzzle wise it's okay. This game lacks a lot in the visual department, it could use a change of scenery. The same assets are used repeatedly. The audio effects aren't great. Having to wait for the repeated sentences in the story scenes is kind of annoying. The story lacks depth. The buildings / level design makes very little sense sometimes. But it's alright. It works, you can play through it and have fun. So yeah, well done.

This is an exploration game set in a research facility that is overrun by plant growth. It definitely lacks polish, but is also worth spending a few dollars and a few hours on.

This was a very enjoyable puzzle platformer. The atmosphere was excellent and running through it was a joy. I loved that I was rewarded for exploring every nook and cranny for upgrade currency, but I also liked that you could feasibly get through without going hardball explorer to find the extra stuff. Visually it felt both nostalgic and very much its own. At first glance, it reminded me of Portal, I think something about the setting shares that common ground with it. Overall, a very happy purchase for a fun short game to run through.

Not a Puzzle Game The "puzzles" are not actual puzzles. The game loop is "you" redirecting electrical charges from one unit to another. Level design makes the experience even worse. Not only are the "puzzles" nonexistent, but solving them is tedious because of the level design. You will be exploring boring empty rooms looking for these charges, and that's the puzzle experience summarized. Sometimes "you" have to do simple jump-performed platforming, but jumping feels unresponsive and makes for an unfortunate gameplay mechanic. But the worst game mechanic is the one involving "you" looking for three pieces of coral-deformed objects. The only challenge comes from trying to painfully locate these objects, and considering that the map is badly designed makes this tiresome. The only entertaining part of locating coral comes from the way the voice actor says "Human growth." Besides the game not being particularly enjoyable, there are some good elements to it. There is a solid art direction to the game, using Cycladic architecture is something I haven't seen a game do before, and I like the way it was used. I also liked the first encounter with the coral enemy, which was well presented. Overall, the way the world looks is the best part of the game. I encountered one game-breaking glitch that occurred when starting "chapter 2". I was not able to move my character even when restarting the level. I rebooted the game the next day, and I was luckily able to proceed. To me, the game doesn't feel focused enough on what it wants to be good at. Instead, it fails at doing anything remotely well, which sadly makes for a boring experience.

A fun little game. Starts out very slow and generic looking but it does pick up and has a complete story to follow to its conclusion. Well worth the price.

This is such an amazing game! The concept is unique, the artwork is great, and It's a relaxing game; even the "monster" is easy the pass, which keeps things nice and relaxed. Not to mention you get a surprising amount of game for the price. I can't recommend this enough! I can easily see this becoming one of my favourite games to come back and replay.

This adventure indie game is 100% worth its 4 euros. At every second I had the feeling that the game had me firmly in its grip, searching like a "madman" for hidden material to upgrade - that's the way of a real treasure hunter. ;-) The material comes in three value levels in this game. And of course I was always looking for the legendary material, some of which was really hard to find but always exciting. There was an achievement for almost every legendary material that you could find once per chapter. You can buy different items with the collected material at several different upgrade stations, such as a flashlight, which you can then upgrade twice extra, so that the light radius is better; three shock upgrades (more you will learn in the game itself; no spoilers here) then there were wallpapers for the main menu and souvenirs. The story in this game is not complex, but in my opinion very interesting for an indie game and I really wanted to learn everything, which is why I mastered the game in one playthrough without a break. My score was 20 out of 21 Steam Achievements, because I saw that there is a real nice Super Secret Achievement, which actually only "clicks" when you look at the description and do some research. :) Here's the picture of the Achievement: (you have to find the way to it yourself!^^) https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2824599909 My rating: 88/100

The first thing you see while reading about this game is "MYSTERY - EXPLORING - PUZZLE". Those three are a huge exaggeration. The MYSTERY? Some dude tripped while carrying a barrel of plant-growing substance and it spread everywhere. That's literally it. EXPLORING? Yes, get ready to explore rooms over and over again, because they all look exactly the same. Endless corridors of concrete and steel. Hunt down pointless upgrade material to upgrade... a flashlight? Or to unlock another main menu background??? PUZZLE? I have not found a single puzzle in this game. While on paper the premise "use electrical charges to manipulate door to progress" has some potential, the reality is just "give charge to door 1, turn around, take the charge back, give to door 2". I got stuck for longer looking for a door I could actually interact with. Santo Island Incident is just not worth your time (1-2 hours to complete). Shoutouts to one of the reviewers that somehow spent 63 hours in this game.
