There's a few things I love about this game. Anyone sitting on the fence? Here's what makes it for me.
Is it perfect? No, but things can only get better in each annual iteration at least I hope to see this get better and better. Right now it's just too cute. Play a match in real time and you'll see what I mean, I love it's beautiful simplicity with the characters battling it out on the courts. Of course with time I would hope these are worked on, more realistic characters, with more variety and better animations, maybe a switch to Unreal5?
The management side of the game is really satisfying, don't expect to begin and start winning, again there's plenty of variety with business management and the creme de la creme, the training sessions. My advice would be to let the ai do the training until you really get grounded with the game. Then start over and take full control over your player.
This game is fully moddable, even the main database can be altered to your liking. And even making your own player from scratch it is easily modded to add a face to your player no problem. This mod is a must for real player names.

My previous tennis rival and my teammate from our youth league are playable tennis players in this game :')
Here I am a software engineer, managing them on the side on a virtual management game while working on a desk job meanwhile both of them are actual pro tennis players now :') F e e l s **INTENSIFIED**

Strangely addicting. I found myself getting mad at my players when they under performed. It's a lot of fun building your academy.

Firstly I have a less than passing interest in Tennis and have a very basic grasp of the rules etc but i do love management sims. This game surprised me on how good the match engine is, arguably better than football manager. Goes into great depth too. I picked it up in the steam sale at £7 - easily worth anything up to £10, if tennis is your sport this game is a must

Ok, so the game is very fun however there is one thing about the game that are incredibly frustrating to me. The player I coach is a big server, and is unbelivble against any player who isn't aggresive, I have an 10-0 record against djokovic, however anytime he plays a player who is also agressive like tsitsipas, he can't win, I get that game plans are important but it would be great if they were less important

I have been searching for a long time for a tennis manager based game and never had any luck, Tennis Elbow Manager 2 was too basic and very dull. I found this game and tested it out and it is everything I have been looking for to scratch that tennis managing itch. It's extremely deep in management, the casual player wouldn't enjoy it in my honest opinion. The game is very strategic, the coaching is a great touch, and creating your academy is the best thing about this game in my opinion, and I really like how the menus and the game is presented. The only complaint I have is that there's no doubles tournaments, which I like to have here. I am huge on stats, so the stat game is massive in this game and really keeps me pushing. Now this game isn't easy, you really need to think strategically, including when you train your players and manager your finances well.

Bought this on a lark after watching Zealand play it.
Listen...there's a lot here. It's rough around the edges but the sky is the limit. They don't have the resources of Sports Interactive, but I can see this franchise developing into a proper management sim. It's so close to prime time.
It's good for 50-60 hours before it gets "too easy." With some attention to detail and some quality of life changes (particularly to the UI when it comes to managing your stable and their training regimen/tourney schedule), this could be a really stellar game.
3.5 out of this many.
Props to the team.

My first tennis manager game, I have played a lot of football manager and it is similar, you grow a created player/upcoming star or take on an established player, academy can be upgraded in sports, medical, youth & scouting and business, you have to keep an eye on your finances which is fun especially when your player starts to win grand slams and you get a percentage % of the winnings, grow your players and scout new ones, agents will get you sponsership deals for equipment and clothing
The game is very fun when you get used to the game mechanics, there are still some game breaking bugs however i imagine they will be patched out in due course

It's got a good interface for a game of this type. If you're familiar with Football Manager or OOTP you'll be able to move around in this game pretty well. The matches look good.
The problem for me is that you don't have enough control over what's going on. Or maybe not that you don't have enough control, but you don't have enough information given to you about why things are they way they are.
So the players mental state is kind of a big deal in this game. In the matches I played, the player with the best mental state going in always won. That usually matches up with ability but not always. But you're given no indication of why a player feels the way he does.
My one players mental state/morale dropped from 'OK' to 'Rock Bottom' over the course of two days. Why? I don't know. He didn't play a match during that time. I've got no way of turning it around. I just have to shrug and go, OK then, and wait for things to get better.
My other player was in a tournament in which he was one of the strongest players. He destroyed the first two opponents and was in a match against someone who was about as good as he was. He went into the match Troubled and Anxious. Why? I don't know. My pre-match talk was whichever one told him to relax and it had no effect. Talking to him during the match had no effect either. So I'm sitting here watching him blast forehands into the net and miss his shots and I know that's his mental state because he wasn't playing like that before, and there's absolutely nothing I can do about it or avoid whatever caused it next time.
Another thing related to personality is that you'll sign someone and then find out their expectations of what they can do are way out of line with yours. So that second player I mentioned up there with the bad mental state. He's 13, and he insisted that he play in the Mens tour. I had no option not to put him there, and only had the option to turn off Junior tour play and expectations for him.
The match I was talking about up there? That was a Junior tour match. If he's crapping himself on the Junior tour how can he think he's ready for the men's tour? Regardless, that sort of thing should be resolved before you sign a contract.
So basically this is a good game but ruined for me by these two arbitrary mechanics. Unfortunately these mechanics are a major part of gameplay so there's no ignoring them and I can't recommend this at any price.

I do love the work and love the devs are putting into this game, but also a little greedy releasing a new one at this point.... don't get me wrong, it has potential and someday might become great, someday.... but right now it's nothing more than a little update, since the 2021 version feels more like a demo or a beta, they should have just kept improving that game for now, change the name to 2022 and just keep working on it until it feels like a finished, complete version of the game before moving on to a new one. If it's about making money, I really do not appreciate it since I paid almost full price (40 euros) for 2021 just to get a messy demonstration of how a tennis manager could look like. Again, I appreciate it gets attentions and improves on regular basis, but just keep it there, keep improving.... do not release an unfinished product after another.... and sorry, even if I am enjoying it myself, I cannot recommend at this point, with this price and what it offers. yeah, you gonna make some profit out of it too, but I also hope you are using the money to keep on working on the game.... dont let money get to your head, don't be greedy, make this game reach it's potential.... keep working and trying hard
