A lot of people seem to bash the game a lot. I also had trouble as well with dying a lot, but was easily able to fix it with armor upgrades to my character. I was able to play the game without dying a lot from then on, once you really get into it is when it gets fun. Although I had trouble with doing some of the quests, it felt extremely rewarding whenever I was able to close a case. I also enjoyed the designs a lot and how the lore of Cruelty Squad is expanded. The vibes from Psycho Patrol R and Cruelty Squad are like no other game. I'm looking forward to the new updates that will be further implemented into this game.

Brother Ville. I tried to get into this game but I cannot I lack sense of purpose, I think this can be fixed by a short cutscene in the beginning to make me know what my goal is and to really set the tone. I like what you did with the different operators that you can play as you could give them extra stuff to really flash them out if u really play into that then you would REALLY cook. Right now the Mech feels like a coffin and ur basically saying "get in, idiot" perhaps make it optional to use make it feel like a late game item that u can have early on. The open world needs to be more reactive and have more stuff to it as well to make it more engaging pls, and another thing I know ur anti hand holding but I believe u can make the lil orb guy u summon by pushing P give u hints and such he can be a really good tool to indirectly guide you through this game. I haven't played this game enough to run my mouth but right now I don't get it. Love u tho ur the best

The game is really fun and addictive and i sat down and played for 10 hours straight which i haven't done with a video game in a very long time but i think if you go in thinking this will be like cruelty squad or top it then you'll be let down. This is sort of a different experience compared to that game but its still in early access so things are subject to change over time. I would recommend you get this if you really loved cruelty squad but don't go in with the mindset this'll be cruelty squad 2.

is this game finished? Hell no. But in my opinion the game foundation is much better than cruelty squad. Fully embracing the immersive sim genre. It not only contains a very strong message about fascism and individualism, but also an extremely interesting look into the mind of Wilhelm Reich and the pseudoscience behind orgone, bions, and other stuff like that. Making a unique theme you can't really get anywhere else.
Gameplay wise, this is extremely tense, for better or for worse. You have to learn routes and area clearing strategies because even inside of your mech, you can be killed really fast. So learning how to kill not only fast, but safely, which is kinda annoying because of the preconceived notions that most people have with mech media, but it really isn't bad, just different, it really just depends on which YOU like more. The weapon drag mechanic where your gun isn't always in the center of the screen makes the gunplay messy and dangerous, increasing the tension.
But in terms of actual content, while it still has tons of guns, quests, mech parts, and more, the game can still feel empty namely due to the amount of purely empty rooms and unfinished areas. I would say this game has a good 15 hours worth of content. Do not look at my hours.
So in conclusion the foundation of the game is much better than cs and has the potential of being an amazing FPS/Mech/immersive sim hybrid. The actual game can be quite lacking in many areas, I would wait to play when its fully finished. This game is very much early access and even though I enjoyed it, I understand the disappointment of paying 40 dollars for a game that only has 15 hours of content.
It has the foundation, it just needs to be built upon!

Extremely overpriced for the state it's in right now. Don't get me wrong, this is a cool game if you liked its predecessor, but Cruelty Squad blows this out of the water at the moment. Hoping that changes one day soon because I want to love this game, but as it stands, everything Cruelty Squad had going for it in terms of level design and atmosphere feels like its mostly been squandered in Psycho Patrol. It feels as though the attempt to make this an open world game has detracted a lot from the really unique and fun level layouts and designs that CS had, and I'm hoping that changes soon.
Just get it on sale. It's ridiculously overpriced even for a finished game, which it isn't, but it's still worth playing. Again, I really do like this game, it's just priced waaaay too high and doesn't compare at all to Cruelty Squad imho. Or maybe I'm just doing it wrong, idk.

It's just not fun for the price he's asking for. I don't understand this philosophy of "Making your game as inaccessible as possible, because that's the point". Because the game does have some groundwork to be an actual enjoyable game, but there just isn't anything there. 40 dollars for an art-project doesn't feel fair, and with how incomplete and early access the game claims to be, 40 dollars up front just feels way too steep for a game that holds it's inaccessibility like a badge of honour.
I like this guys previous game. Cruelty Squad is a wonderful game but it's also a great commentary on hyper-capitalism and and corporate mega-culture. But the commentary in Psycho Patrol R just feels like such a jumble of random "esoteric buzzwords" and "euro-centrist gobbledegook" that it forgets to be a video game. And with the developer's recent ramblings on "how video games are just a complex form of video-poker" and "the philosophy of addiction potential" I just don't see how this game will ever make it out the door in any entertaining or even cohesive form. Conversations with NPCs feel more like a lecture on subjects that don't exist, and ultimately do little more than point you in a direction, you don't even have the insider knowledge to know how to utilise.
Time-to-kill is instant, I couldn't stumble my way to my supposed mech-suit in this "FPS/Mecha game", and I really for the life if me couldn't find out where to go or what to do. The quest marker only told me to talk to my handler, but after exhausting every dialogue option he had, the marker still didn't updated and I was back to square one.
This game is incredibly incomplete. It's and acquired taste for people with a thing for games that don't tell you anything about everything. Cruelty Squad at least had the assassination markers, and with the levels being somewhat linear, you could usually always stumble your way into or towards where your intended direction is. With Psycho Patrol R, the open world stands as a hindrance as the game doesn't seem very interested in your progressing, opting more to tell a story the world doesn't seem very invested in.
40 dollars is way too much for something this small scale, I don't care if this game has plans to be the biggest thing in gaming, but the Early Access roadmap claims that the game will be in early access for a year, and it has now been out since March with no meaningful or large updates other than bugfixes and minor stability patches. The game doesn't tell you how it wants to be played, and it has no interest in telling you. I don't recommend it on the grounds that it just isn't fun. I feel like I'd have to watch someone with thousands of hours of knowledge in political shitposting and esoteric storytelling play this game before I even think about installing it.

What it is I have to do or where to go in this game is extremely obscure. Whereas Cruelty squad had arrows and a small paragraph saying "this is what you're doing" before each level, this game has paragraph after paragraph of lore. "Show and don't tell" is a notion that was completely dropped by the looks of things.
Now me personally, I play games to shut off after a long day of work/college so having to read deep fictionalised politics to try see if there's any hidden hints or tips on how to play isn't my cup of tea. Especially when Cruelty Squad had such a simple "Pick up and play" attitude once you got used to the controls.
So I paid 3 hours of work for an unfinished game that's too pretentious to tell you simple mechanics, where to go in a directt manner and also isn't finished upon purchase and then the dev is on social media trying to act smarter than everyone for making a game "you just don't get". You're making a game where you shoot people in a big robot man, you're not John Coltrane. Stop going on twitter and having a meltdown about how instant death is just a wrong step away and blaming the fans for not liking it.
And this is coming from someone who ranks cruelty squad as one of their favourite games.
If it weren't for the new Mario kart and donkey Kong setting actual industry standards for higher prices, I'd actually make a case for this being one of the most overpriced game of the modern era. Even the positive reviews agree.
On the positive side I'll admit that aesthetically this game is extremely unique, it will definitely get a reaction out of you.

(At the time of writing, this game is in early access and is still a work in process with planned future content being added)
Although this game's price is much steeper compared to Cruelty Squad, I still really enjoyed playing this game. There is a lot more it needs to do, but it definitely can (and mostly will) surpass Cruelty Squad in gameplay, content and definitely its humor.
To start, I love the contrast of the Mech Fighting and the in-person gunplay, the sheer vulnerability you feel when outside of the MECH is great and high stakes. Winning fights feels really rewarding while really really punishing if you fail. I would not call it balanced per say, but that feels by design to be so chaotic to fight. The mechs contrasts this with how strong and secure you feel, with only a few sections requiring you become confident in how you approach a section. A great example of this is the abandoned highway, where you can play evasively and cheese it, or engage in an epic combat. I know Ville reworked mech controls recently, but I also love how clunky and awkward it moved. It gives it enough challenge, and good skill check. Also includes a lot of unique guns, and just cool gizmos to find around the map (much like Cruelty Squad). I have taken a liking to the AUTO MAG 5 stand in this game, sounds good and fires .50 AE. Glorious.
The world's and environment of this game are great. Now I am a NA player, and may be missing on some of the context for the fictious EU/EFP stand in. But I found myself really enjoying interacting with NPCs and conversing with them, the humor still lands and you really get to see the perspectives these people feel and react with. Some I wish had more dialogue, I want more it is so funny, I just want more. The areas are distinct and with a fast travel system you can worry more on interacting with the environment than on getting there. The lore and world to this game are also unique, you can either find yourself completely invested into this crazy Paneuropa hell or completely taken out of it with how silly the whole conflict is. Its awesome.
The gadgets and classes are unique, my favorite is the SWAT. Yeah it is basic but I love using the 10mm MP5 and the armored mech is fun too. The HACKERMAN stands out to me for how unique it is, and how mastery over it can make certain sections much much easier.
My only problems with this games the stock market is confusing, I do not really understand fully how to use it. (I will revise this once I get more familiar with it.)
I wish this in this game you could sort your saves into slots or folders, instead of just posting new saves above the previous one. This way it would be more organized and less of a mess trying to navigate through, and better for certain runs.
I do wish the gadgets had better explanations or some tutorial to them, like the HACKERMAN. It is a cool tool, just wish I didn't have to look it up online on how to use it. Maybe a section with Elias teaching you how to use it or something could be a cool idea.
In conclusion, Psycho Patrol R is a great expansion of mechanics when compared to Cruelty Squad. It definitely needs to be fleshed out in certain areas, but where it does well it really does well. Anyways, time to make Lorenzo proud.

I wanted to like this game, it just makes it so goddamn hard to. "That's the point" feels like a pretentious cope from the developer, as if he's too stubborn to cede anything to the player (the audience for the damn game). Making a game hard to get into doesn't make it cool and niche. Ville is an amazing artist and there is so much to admire about the art direction here, but he has to realize that someone's also got to play the damned game to appreciate what he's doing. I think its very telling that half of all the "positive" reviews have <5 hrs playtime. It's obvious that the even the cruelty squad legionnaires couldn't sit through this one
