The female "Detective Locke" in this ruins an otherwise acceptable game. I started actively rooting for the bad guys over her. She is so insufferable. The puzzles are easy and the speech is slow (I could read the subtitles multiple times over before the character was done speaking) but those are tolerable. The camera work is good. The graphics are smooth. Some excellent artwork....all thrown out the window because they had to have annoying charmless leftist woman character.

It is not great, but interesting enough. I think I would rather reread the book then play this again? And I tried, spent hours on it.
I think this works for a certain demographic.
I really liked the new character and the visuals are mostly good.

I feel like I have a lot to say about this game, but just don't know how to put it all into words.
This is a fine detective game IF you have never experienced the story in other mediums (print/movie/tv). If you know the story you're mileage may very on enjoyability.
At first the substory with Locke was not hitting with me at all, but at a certain point I was enjoying the extra world building they were telling with her character.
What I did not enjoy was the "13th" stab wound story line that felt very rushed and added on only to pad out the game length an extra two hours.
I enjoyed how many puzzles they managed to fit in that story section, but between going through Venice and how quickly it ended I'd rather them not include it at all.
I think something else that i just couldn't keep focus on is the time period. I grew up watching the BBC version of Poirot but also enjoy Kenneth Branagh's version as well
I just can not get the idea out of my head about Poirot asking people about vape juice and showing people his cell phone pictures of evidence.
The game takes place in 2023 but the style of clothing and topics of discussion (mostly) with the princess make it seem like its 50-60 years prior (are people still talking about Stalinists??))
I overall enjoyed the game but I feel like I'm still missing something

For context, I love Agatha Christie books, the Orient Express setup, the detective genre, and point and click games, so I would have been the ideal player for this game.
I didn’t mind playing a story I had already read and watched, or the modern setting with mobile phones, or even the somewhat dated and underwhelming art style.
And, I quite liked the addition of Joanna Locke as Poirot’s investigative partner, the mechanic of the mindmap, and the puzzle hint system.
I was very annoyed at the slow pacing, including the painfully slow walking back and forth on the train, the super slow voice acting without any skip option, and the unnecessary puzzles that further slowed down the game. I want games that respect my time and this one didn’t.
It could have been an enjoyable 5-hour game, but at 15-hours it felt at least twice as long as it needed to be. I have bought the other games in the series as part of a bundle but I am not really looking forward to playing them.
