The premise is spectacular, but the end result is such a shame. The individual battles have no realism, no tactical finesse. The campaign mode doesnt know what it is....there is no sense of direction. The map wildly lights up with insurrections in every colony. Very poor. This game is a grand let down.

I enjoyed AG Civil war and Age of Sail a lot more. American Revolution is to subtract Civil war from Age of sail with the result missing what was best about both of the other games by this developed. Steer clear of this one.

Sad that this game has been abandoned apparently. After how much I enjoyed their Civil War game entry, I was excited to try this. I was disappointed and very quickly decided the game was not worth investing my time in. Apparently the developers agreed.
To be honest, had this been my first foray with them, I would have been completely turned off by them as a company. I hope they pick it up with any future entry they develop.

I honestly felt this game has the best battles and logistics matter. Its challenging but more based upon your actions, failures, victories! I kinda feel this game got a bad rap, but I loved the way it puts the action, politics and intrigue in your hands! Victory is in your hands!
Sadly with Darth leaving the game's development team and how the development has grinded to a halt... It could have been great! And a continuation leading into other campaigns like Napoleon, or other ideas would have been awesome with this formula!
Know, my review is mostly on the mechanics and formula of this game being both challenging and refreshing for a strategy game! I loved it all, from the combat at sea, land and political sphere! But sadly the game may just die now...

Map is difficult to use (zoom, moving around). You get the feeling that you're always just shy of where you want the camera to be. The maps themselves seem to have little historical research put into them. (Factories with smokestacks, that sort of thing). The whole thing just feels sloppy.
