Quad Dice Defence Reviews
This is a tower defense game where you use four dice to build a turret. The rolls of the dice are the ability value of "number of shots", "time reload", "damage(& range)" and "magazine". Try your best to clear all 40 stages, which are getting more and more difficult!

A Tower Defense game that offers something a bit different.
Plays fairly easy up to around levels 13, 14 but then the thinking cap needs to be put on.
Enjoying the ride!!

So is this a very neat idea for a tower defense? Absolutely! Its one of the freshest ideas I've seen for the genre in a long time! Does it execute it well? I'd have to say it doesn't. Theres also the fact my anti-virus caught the application trying to connect to the internet in a sus way which is.... not a great look.
In a tower defense a lot of the engagement comes from strategic tower placement and the thrill of barely staving off the waves of enemies until you're so powerful that nothing can get past you. Each decision is important and meaningful and you're aware of the choices you're making at all times.
In Quad Dice Defence this is sadly not the case. While yes the scrambling to build a tower out of the dice allotted to you at the time is a VERY good mechanic with some solid choices in there the rest of the game play loop doesn't get very engaging until around the 15th level. The game does cool things to spice it up by having new pathways appear (which can disable your turrets by bisecting them which is VERY cool) but the enemies that appear on the pathways (again I've only played up to the 15th level) always die in one hit from one die damage (the lowest damage you can do) and often only one pathway is sending out enemies at a time. This isn't very engaging on it's own let alone 40 mins into a game.
It's absolutely possible to plonk one tower next to a goal and have it defend the goal easily without any assistance, there just really isn't any challenge or variety. Nor does it let you sit with your decisions for any length of time. Most of the first levels really only last a wave or two before being finished without any introduction of any new mechanics at all, leaving me with the only thing I'm mastering is turret construction.
Without any enemy variety and all the waves only having enemies that just die in one hit with no real moments that actually try to overwhelm you the game is painfully one note and boring when it has such a cool mechanic going for it. This game needed more time in other parts of it than just more levels. Have less levels, far less levels, and instead give more enemy variety, with ever expanding maps and more powerful enemies so that I have to actually sit with my decisions and so that I'm challenged and surprised with new challenges! In it's current state I could not reccomend it to you as it only gets slightly engaging after 40 minutes of playing and that's simply too long, it should have gotten to that point in the first 5 to 10 minutes.
