If you like Jin Yong novels and turn-based games, you will like this great Wuxia game.

This is a game with Octopath-like visuals, played out in a turn-based grid combat system. Lovely game with plenty of decisions to make which will affect the storyline. Good amount of gameplay for the price that you pay, even more if you got it at a discount. Enjoyed it very much. Thank you Dev!

Awesome game! If you're into Wuxia this game has it all. Beggars Sect, Wudang, Shaolin, etc. 18 Dragon Subjugation Palms, Tai Chi, Lion's Roar, epic Aura moments!! It's a Wuxia movie/series/novel put into a beautiful pixel graphics game. If someone makes this game into a movie I would watch it! So many epic moments in the story! Characters having that epic moment! Gameplay is fun, typical tactical RPG, with Wuxia twist. Gameplay is simple exp points and character leveling is easy to learn, confusing at first, but is really simple once you get the hang of it. Story 10/10 Keep up the good work Swordsman Studio and Spiral Up Games. My only gripe is I wish there was more!!! Add more content and Ill pay!!!

Absolutely adore this game. I won't lie, the routes are so complex I played it with a spreadsheet walk-through for my NG+. No regrets. THe new content and cross-over content has been an awesome addition. Great Devs. Great game. Cannot recommend highly enough.

I'm only at the half-way point of the game (I think) but I need to make this comment now, after about 75 hours of gameplay I can't recommend this game enough, an amazing wuxia game, a lot of hidden side quests and recruit-able npcs that you need to active look for as you progress the main quest, the power progression is addicting with each piece of gears, meridian point, book manuals that you earn/learn, a surprisingly good story - one which i didn't really expect since the power-scaling gameplay was what attracted me to the game, like seriously some of the npc allies that you can recruit have insanely good storyline that you must go through before being able to recruit them [spoiler] Xun YaoYao my beloved I hope you can be recruited [/spoiler] . I went in expecting a funny game where you just abuse the system to get stronger (by [strike] robbing [/strike] sparring every character that you can for their [strike] sparring gifts [/strike] loot) and I got way more than I expected - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

I never leave reviews for anything, this is one of the all time greatest RPG's I've ever played. It's very reminiscent of Chrono Trigger in the way it tells it's story in a way where you can play a completely different game from one play-through to the next, including a New Game+ style feature where you can enter the game stronger than previous play-through's in order to see more of the game or try out a different play style to see a new ending. My lone complaint of the game stems from something others may find to be a positive. In the vein of older RPG's where you seemingly needed to know the correct way through the game to get a full complete play-through, there are many secrets in this game you can miss by making one decision. I'm not a huge fan of choosing 1 incorrect conversation choice and missing an entire segment of the game because of it. This is a must buy, and if it's on sale and you don't buy it, you're only depriving yourself of a wonderful RPG. This should be the game that ushers in a new era of Chinese mythological RPG's that can give us all new great stories to enjoy for years.

I really didn't expect this game to be this good. It's a fantastic indie RPG. It's a bit rough around the edges, but as an RPG fan that's played a lot of RPGs of all kinds, I had a blast playing it. Fair warning, this game will let you miss important content if you don't explore around. Side quests can alter the main story. Companions alter the main story often, and most companions are optional. Be thorough, don't advance the main story without checking everything, and recruit everyone you can.

SAD. This game had the potential to be a masterpiece, but the fundamental game design is just broken. At first, it feels like you’re encouraged to build your dream team from a dozen different characters, which sounds awesome. The problem? The story constantly forces teammates to join and leave at random, and in about half the boss fights… your teammates just don’t even show up. It’s especially frustrating when the two main girls are absent for like 70% of the game. By the end, I realized it’s not worth investing in anyone but your own character, because chances are your favorite teammates will be yanked from your party for some ridiculous story reason right before a tough boss fight. Great concept, but this design choice just kills the fun.

Wandering Sword is a game I bought on the spur of the moment, after getting hit with a glance of its HD-2D style graphics. A wuxia style RPG set in a fictional Chinese-inspired setting, I've come away very surprised by how much I got into it. It's a very open ended game, with plenty of optional party members and branching outcomes for quests and even the whole game. There are secrets, characters, and quests to be found as you scour the map, with plenty of freedom for how and when you opt to pursue it. The tradeoff there is that it's very much possible to miss out on quests and entire characters if you progress too far. I've played two complete playthroughs as of the time of this review - one blind, and one where I let myself look up conditions, quests, and characters to recruit. It was interesting to see what played out differently and what remained the same. In regards to the story, it's somewhat rote in many ways - it wears its inspiration on its sleeve, and isn't ashamed of it. It indulges in tropes you will recognize if you've engaged in this sort of literature before. How much this bothers you will vary as a result. You end up playing the martial-art prodigy climbing the ranks of the martial arts world, interacting with heroes, villains, and martial-arts masters as you grapple with the problems of the world. I personally found it well enough executed, with plenty of good characters to keep me engaged, even if they generally did fit into archetypal molds I've seen many times before. The translation at times feels a little clunky - use of some modernisms and slang stick out among the more heroic, epic language. But it's a commendable effort and good enough that I can take the blemishes in good humor. In regards to DLC, my first playthrough I played just the base game. On my second, I picked up both the Legends of the Eastern Sea and Hero's Adventure Collaboration. Both expanded the base game fairly significantly, and the collab (the source of which I have not played) was integrated so seamlessly I would have never known they were characters from another property. I'd definitely recommend them, if not for your first campaign, at least for a second. I'd rate this game around an 8/10. At its current price of $24.99, I find it very reasonably priced, and on sale it's even moreso. If this at all looks like something you'd find interesting, I'd recommend you give it a shot.
