Captures the magic of playing Pokemon for the first time, all over again. Great writing and soundtrack, and a combat system that seems easy at first but has more depth than you expect as you get into it. I'm also surprised at how quickly I got attached to my Beasties :)

New hyperfixation unlocked<3 Fr tho, this game is GOOD Cool graphics, nice controls, the beasties have unique and fun designs, and the battle system requires a lot of strategy and good planning, making the battles very engaging! Dope game, go for it if its on sale, definitely will be an absolute gem when it gets to leave Early Access, I can see it being one of the tops.

Absolutely love this game! The characters, storyline, animation, and the reactions of the Beasties take Pokémon-like games to the next level. I've been craving a game like this for years. Looking forward to more updates!

This game is a monster collector yes, but its actively TRYING to be anything but the top dog Pokemon. The genre is amazing for RPG's and i love to see a company take that beautiful idea and try to make something unlike any other. Makes for really good puns and jokes in game too. An indie game definitely worth trying for anyone that enjoys the monster tamer genre as a whole. 10 Artwork, 10 Soundtrack, 10 Writing, i cant wait to see more of the work Klei

okay, this is the first creature collector game that genuinely caught my attention and had fun! i never got any interest to any games under that genre especially pokemon, but beastieball is the first one that did! especially the volleyball aspect as someone who watches haikyuu, i really had fun! i cant wait for the full release! o((*^▽^*))o

I was shocked by how universally praised this game is - then I played it and I'm firmly in the camp of praising it. It's by no means perfect - the occasional platforming sections can be hit or miss, many of the animations are not finished, etc. - but what it lacks in surface level polish it makes up for in the unmitigated fun the combat system brings to the table. Many other reviews have noted it, but the introduction of volleyball battle mechanics to a monster collector/pokemon-ish game works incredibly well and adds a welcome shake up of the genre. I don't want to discuss it too much as I think it's best when you experience the "aha" moments that come up while you play the game, but it really had me completely engaged from the start of the game to it's end. I've done some post-game stuff but will check back in with this game every once and a while to see if they continue improving it :)

I have tried and bounced off of a myriad of other creature collectible games. I wasn't the most enamored with the new Pokemon games, I've not found a Digimon game I've wanted to play, Palworld seems like not my type of game, Cassette beasts seemed a little rough around the edges but was okay, but this game caught me. It's simple and strategic with designs I deeply feel are inspired, despite not all the art being in the game is just about done. It feels finished. It's really neat and I think anyone who wants a game with heart and soul to it needs to play this. I'll write more when I can, but this is how I feel right at this moment.

Important: This is one of those RPGs where the characters have more than one thing to say. Keep talking until the prompt disappears, it is ALWAYS worth it. This is such a special experience, even in Early Access. The writing is great- efficient and evocative and emotional, with a well-realized world and a story with twists. The music is an outstanding blend of instruments and styles that never fails to bop. The creature designs are adorable, even with the occasional placeholder sketch, and their posing and expressions are superb. The gameplay feels great and has oodles of strategic depth, and great options to make it easier or more challenging. But for me, the standout feature is the way that the Beasties interact with you and each other, which is miles away from any other creature-collecting game I've ever played. Just the change from "capturing monsters for your collection to fight battles for you" to "recruiting animals to your team to play sports with each other" is so positive and heartwarming and so good. Beasties love to ball. Toss a ball in their direction and they'll start keepy-uppies at a moment's notice. The wild encounters use slightly weird and inefficient tactics, because they're not playing to win, they're just having fun. Each Beastie has a unique 'recruit condition', because you need to show them something specific that makes them realize that playing for your team might be fun. And when they aren't playing matches for your team... they go home, and hang out with their friends. They form relationships with each other, they form a community. It's so wonderful. And that's Beastieball!

Insanely original and unique twist on monster taming. The sports angle of the game makes everything unique and fresh. The game is asbolutely goregous and the beasties' designs are all cuuuuute. Top tier monster taming game. I hope this blows up and becomes a big franchise.
