If RAC and Jak had a baby, it'd be Akimbot.
Pretty Good!
Key features

Many mini-games,
Annoying companion,
Meow-meows aren't your friends /ᐠ。ꞈ。ᐟ\
Short review version Driving episodes suck big times. (almost) Everything else is spot on! https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3543501843 Long review version Wow! Liked Akimbot a lot! What is it? It's an adventure with frequent wall-running, fast-paced jumping and dodging lasers, shooting enemies and avoiding kittens hugs (yeah, it's a thing here!). You will travel islands. Tropical, volcanic (because we all love lava, right?), even frozen caves and acidic maze! Standard set. You will fly in the Space! Cosmic voyages were the most memorable experiences in this game - QTE with shields activation, gasping at the Galactic Fleet, and then listening how characters literally go mad. Well written argument right there! Plus! You'll get to fly through a giant spaceship exterior defence tunnels and land inside another one! https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3543191384 Akimbot likes to slow down and offer a change - here, control a turret and clear out hostile planes. Oi! Sneak past giant mech dinosaurs. Uh... tank? You want a tank? You'll have a tank. Nevermind, now run away from a tank. 🤣 It's the change and well combined action/change that glued me to the game. You will also try mini-games. Every now and then Akimbot makes you do small hacks. Whether during a battle or in a peaceful environment. Those were so organic and well added, simply - nice! It was naughty to implement them into timed extraction episodes, but the hacks are super easy, so I allow it ;) Moreover! Few times you'll play as your useless bot - beating a 2D enemy, winning a robot version of flappy bird (that was hilarious with characters' bodies fighting on a background). Argh, the bot. He was unbelievably frustrating. He wouldn't shut up. He wasn't funny. He wasn't helpful either, except for 2-3 story moments. He kept staying too close almost rubbing his gears against mine! Stay tf away, please! Zero fight assistance. Doesn't break resource crates. Just continues panicking and talking. Oof! =/ Him and the driving... two most ridiculous things in Akimbot. So, cars. Horrible controls. Extremely slow and chunky movement. And that in the missions where you need speed and aggression! Wheels often bump into a slightest edge and won't roll over. There's like... 3 major moments when you use them and I just wish those could have been changed or removed completely. Hey, devs made amazing flawless flying episodes, but struggled with driving ones? How come? https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3543190469 Akimbot gave me lots of memorable experience. While its story is laughable, its gameplay is catchy and full of various changes. Good job! p.s. I want a sequel 😛

wow, so.. this is awesome! my initial instant impressions after around 45 mins of gameplay: if ratchet met claptrap instead of clank,.. its heavily inspired by ratchet and clank more arguably the PS2 days, in themes, platforming, even the orbs etc. buuut it still maintains its own unique identity! not just because of the whole completely different sidekick thing, but also in that there are different mechanics at play here. the start of the game teaches you how to play in an easy fashion, a tutorial that isn't a tutorial (chefs kiss) and it focuses heavily on what you can do melee style at first! replace the wrench with a cool ninja blade, and replace wrench slam with headbutt, trust me it works, amazingly well here! the hacking minigame is nice, if you suck at one of them theres like 5 different random mini hacking games to play, so thats cool! idk about the weapon system tho, i mean... it works, and it certainly seems to focus more towards platforming/dodging around while shooting, buuut... i do miss having an expansive loadout (perhaps thats something that changes, idk yet) (i spoke too soon, you can in fact have multiple weapons, just not quite what i thought, im liking this so far!) anyway, if like me you loved ratchet and clank, jak and daxter etc from the ps2 days. and wish there was more of that kind of game out there... and dont mind the idea of claptrap being your funny lil quip emitting sidekick, then i think this is a pretty good contender! i cant wait to see the rest of this game, and hope it inspires a new series! i also love the music, so far it fits well! also, something you will discover in your playthru, its got that wonderful strafe dodge gameplay we know and love, tho it is more focused on dodging while attacking than ratchet and clank ever was! this is definitely just a tad more challenging than similar titles, but super fun and rewarding to play! im enjoying it so far! <3

Do you miss Ratchet & Clank? Do you miss Jak & Daxter? Do you enjoy shlocky writing with quirky humor? This game will fill that empty hole. It's a fun 12~ hour ride. It's a linear adventure and it has a lot of one and done scenarios where you play through mini-games and such, which to some might a good or bad thing. If this sold it for you, you don't need to read any further. It is a solid base and i wish there will be some sequel, though improvements to the gameplay could be made. The melee is very situational and mostly serves prolonging the jumping and destroying currency crates. Plus there is a odd buggy behaviour when you are going across debris where it is treated as if you are mid-air instead of on the ground making it quite awkward, but not a deal breaker. The guns are fun, i very much enjoy "infinite" ammo with heating up mechanic, plus the special weapons offer some "wreck everything" button. But after you get all the weapons, the assault rifle from the start becomes useless. Sniper rifle deals a lot of damage reliably destroying single targets, rocket launcher destroys shields, and the mini-gun has superior rate of fire and bullets addressed to "whomever it may concern". The assault rifle on the other hand heats up faster than the minigun, has poor damage and it has low rate of fire. Also the rocket launcher could use larger AOE. When you land a rocket right next to the enemy and nothing happens makes it feel very awkward. The special guns i haven't played around with too much. The nano-tube is a sort of mix between a shotgun and a rocket launcher that basically one shots everything and has a massive AOE zone. Can't really comment on the other weapons. If there will be a sequel i do hope it will be easier to gather currency, i've played through the game breaking almost every create, except when there was no time for it. And even then i barely could upgrade the nano-tube to the max, while buying the other weapons to just try them out. But since i couldn't amass enough currency to upgrade the rest i didn't even bother taking them. The weapon i did played with however was very satisfying to use. Another point that didn't sit right was the enemy placement, at time it felt there were too few enemies and sometimes there so many enemies the only strategy left was spray-n-pray or go for cheesy tactics. SPOILERS AHEAD for one section. There is a tank section where at the climax there is a complete horde of enemies, another tank in the distance and landmines. One would think that it could the closely huddled horde it'd be fun to run them over while you focus on the tank, or blow up the mines to take out the portion of the horde. But nope, the way to deal with it to hide behind a hill and peak every now and then to take out the tank and then deal with the rest. The enemy AI sometimes felt braindead too. But i when it did work and there was just enough enemies with the right placement, it was an enjoyable ride to dash away, dodge bullets while you take them out. But all this combined does make for a strange difficulty curve, where it is very easy at the start and mostly throughout and then suddenly the intensity ramps up. Still nothing that i couldn't beat, but because i did play games like R&C and J&D, a lot of the things the game asked me to do i could see from a mile away, but someone going into a game like this for the first time might have a harder time as when it comes showing the player some more complex mechanics isn't explained or demonstrated. But your mileage may wary on this. Another thing that i wasn't a fan of was the healing system. Usually the damage you take isn't substantial, each enemy seemingly dealing just one point of damage, especially at the start it does feel like you can tank an entire army, until you can't and you are faced with a bombardment that drains your HP down to zero. The healing being these floating creatures you shoot down to get instant full HP is unsatisfying for multiple reasons: - It's unreliable, you are at the mercy of their placement, and you better hope there will be a healing bot to kill right around the corner - The healing bots are everywhere around the next corner. You might think this goes against my first point, but no. Because they are everywhere, it makes any kind of encounter meaningless after you go through a room of enemies, the game might as well automatically heal you. - Instant full hp. It feels too good to have, the only rare times it feels good is when you're low on hp and you shoot down one mid-combat, but still it goes back to my first point, you are reliant on them being there. If it were an item you can collect, you could save up and use it in the moment. Or if you could somehow gain hp from kills like in Doom or Ultrakill, i think it would be a more fitting mechanic, but any mechanic would be better than the healing bots to shoot down. That's about all my complaints and criticisms, but all around it is a fun experience worth the money and i definitely recommend it.

together, WE are Akimbot I actually loved this game though. The constant different ideas for the levels such as the cars and spaceships while also keeping most of the gameplay on foot was amazing. Also by having loads of different methods of transport such as the missile, that was absolute cinema.

A tipe of game that doesn't really exist anymore, could use more weapons and upgrades and the flying/driving sections are a bit too long but overall an extremely fun game, movement and combat are very satisfying especially on the hardest difficulty.

The game has the framework of Ratchet and Clank for its gameplay, and Borderlands as the skeleton for story. Then, it had a bit of a drug trip with gameplay, gimmicks, and writing and ended up falling apart in my book. It made me laugh, but not because of how silly the game is, but by how rediculous things were getting. At the end of the day, it was feeling like the game had an ADHD development cycle with some of the most random things added in. My biggest hurdles were no defensive options given, making gauntlet encounters being much more difficult, especially with how accurate the enemies can be, the checkpointing in some segments just not existing for some levels, and the lighting in some areas that made it hard to tell where it was safe to go without trusting n blind luck a good number of times.

Immediately, I don't like this game very much. Maybe it's because I'm playing with controller and it's meant to be a keyboard game, I was playing it as a ratchet and clank game. But things stand out to me. Levels are incredibly straight forward, and while there's plenty of geometry to explore, there's no encouragement to explore. The tutorial stuff is TOO hidden. Yellow on an already yellow area, I had no idea you could parry shots wihich is also not that great. It feels like the parry window is too small and you just get hurt anyways. That evil beeping noise? oh thats the item locator. I'm in the second location and there's a beeping sound. Go to the achievement hunter video because I spend 5 minutes scouring the area and it's not IN that area, it's somehow somewhere else. Only four weapons. I guess that's balanced, but I love stupid ass ratchet and clank weapons. I'll try it with keyboard soon, then maybe I'll change this, but it definitely does not feel like a tightened up game.

Fun play! A little rough around the edges, could do with a bit more gameplay and enemy variety, but there's a clear passion put into the game. Has a lot of character, worth picking up!
